Oh, how did you guys feel about the Hasbro nod to the fanon?

I threw my monitor.

You're not going to make me find the link are you? WARNING: SPOILERS via images.

Also, Hasbro has swung the hammer of legal justice.

Thoughts?

Thoughts? I better download all the episodes, and lickety split.

I don't really care. It's just one site. They can make a new one and all the episodes are available a ton of other places.

So wait a minute: does that means no more Youtube streams?

If so, someone's going to be very mad

I don't usually care about piracy, but anyone who calls themselves a fan of a show shouldn't rip off it's makers. I'm getting the whole series on iTunes this xmas.

EDIT: And no, this doesn't mean we can't watch new episodes on Youtube. It means we can't illegally download the episodes as easily anymore.

To be honest, think of all the money they may have GAINED by people discovering the pirated versions and becoming fans, only to spend money on the franchise later on.

To clear some issues. Fans seem to be optimistic. It appears that the cease and desist was put through to stop the downloading of their episodes. I think the streams of new episodes will still be allowed. And I think the youtube episodes will be fine. In my opinion, I'm okay with this. Hasbro has already been lenient towards us by allowing us to put the episodes up on youtube. All they ask is that if you wish to actually own a copy of an episode, you buy it off iTunes or through the DVDs.

Most people discovered the show on Youtube, I don't know anyone who learned about it's existence because they pirated an episode. The Youtube versions aren't going anywhere, well, unless they're griefed by trolls.

I should also mention Hasbro's been trying to convince retailers that the brony community is worth investing in, if the fans aren't willing to spend money to own the episodes then we'll never see a full retail release.

To be honest, I'm finding it hard to feel sorry for them. It's one thing to upload the episodes on YouTube without permission, but allowing the episodes to be downloaded for free via torrents is taking it a bit far. Hasbro has to make money, and while the YouTube uploads probably weren't cutting into their profits too much, a free alternative to their iTunes services was likely costing them a lot of money. It's a shame to see a brony site get attacked like that, but to be fair they were kind of asking for it. Besides, I never used PonyArchive, so its closure will hardly affect me at all.

Well, it's somewhat hard to make purchases when your parents don't even let you buy "masculine" things, so I at least have an excuse…

For those that wish to support the show, you can buy the DVD from Amazon which is only 11$ plus S+H:

http://www.amazon.com/My-Little-Pony-Friendship-Magic/dp/B0063FGF14/

Or hit up itunes and but the episodes in HD at 2.99 each. You don't need to buy them all, just the ones you like! (FUCK YEAH LUNA AND DISCORD EPISODES!)

http://itunes.apple.com/us/tv-season/my-little-pony-friendship/id465945221

It's time we gave a little back to Hasbro and Studio B.

Don't be like this please:

I would really like to contribute to Hasbro, but still ain't got a credit card to make online purhcases without having to give explanations (which is a problem for me and others). But I'm travelling to the US again next year and have already put ponies on my shopping list (hope to get at least a shirt, that's all I want)

I don't see what the huge difference is between downloading an episode and watching one online. It's already online. Why should downloading it be any different?

It allows you to view the episode while not online.

And so it begins. Youtube links for many episodes are down too. Soon I won't be able to get any content. Beacause I live in Canada I cannot download from iTunes.

Bitch, Its magic! I aint gotta explain shit!

But I understand it, Some people want to have it on their iPods or PSPs or whatever. So hasbro is making sure that if you want to download it, it will be through them.

What Im beginning to worry about is the fact that Hasbro feels comfortable by now with the amount of viewers and its audience. When the show was just starting out they needed publicity and more people to get hooked and stuff. But now that is is fairly popular they may begin to block some sources of episodes in order to increase profit.. Remeber that this show wasn't exactly intended for bronies but we're watching it, and Hasbro knows that. Now they want to make money from that. After all its just a corporation whose goal is profit. By blocking links and stuff, they will get more people to purchase it on iTunes.

Kinda sucks for me, because Im willing to pay. But I cannot purchase episodes beacuse they can only be purchased with a US account (and despite me trying to get a US account and funding, my plan hit a roadblock)

If that is their cunning plan then it is most likely going to backfire.

Anypony who really wants the episodes and doesn't want to pay is going to get them. From ponyarchive, from the pirate bay, they will find somewhere.

If they want to make buku bucks they should make something that you can't get from the internet; physical show accurate dolls and plushies. I would buy them in a heartbeat.

Now hasbro intern lurking this thread, go tell that to our benevolent (and trollish) overlords.

You can still watch it on Youtube, and if you're really desperate to download them you can use a youtube to iTunes converter. I have all the episodes on my computer and I've never been to ponyarchive. (still going to by them on iTunes though, cuz I'm a good brony who gives hasbro it's well deserved money)

I actually bought season 1 and the season 2 pass just so I don't feel guilty about watching the news ones right away on the internet. That, and its cool to have it on iTunes

This thread is now about Spitfire's plot, cope with the circumstances!

@Connor

Even though they're slightly… cloppy… I do like those pictures.

No, not for that reason.
They remind me of those old U.S. Army posters where they would use enticing females or something on them to attract people.

I'm actually against most piracy in theory. The only things I get online are game tunes that don't have an OST released for it, and then sometimes tunes from games that I have already bought.

I don't download any shows or movies nor do I agree with anyone who does. But that's a different argument.

On one level, I'm almost glad Hasbro is enforcing its copyright. We get a great show on the whole for free. You just need Internet access, and you can watch it on YouTube in great quality (unless you're really into quality) whenever you want. We should support the show, and flashing money is the best way to do it. Some people can't do that easily, because they live with their parents or they don't use credit cards, but some people don't have that excuse…or would even if they had the means.

If I let myself, then I would be so angry with people who downloaded all of the episodes, don't buy anything that show monetary support for Studio B or Hasbro, and complain about some small thing in the show that they don't like and begin calling for heads whenever they think Hasbro is taking down YouTube videos or doing something that is expected and fair from a BUSINESS.

On another level, I'm glad, because that probably means Hasbro will be on the lookout for other places that offer downloads. Now it's the Internet: you can find anything if you want it. But I'm hoping that it will encourage people to buy DVD or get episodes from iTunes. Now, I don't want to install iTunes, and I don't have the Hub, because I hardly watch TV at all, but I did buy a DVD that will get to me in March. And once I know the episodes in other DVDs, I will buy more. I'm glad the YouTube videos are up still, but if they come down, because Hasbro called for it, then I can't argue with it.

You don't have to buy anything, but I do think less of those who think they have a right to free Pony. It's Hasbro's product, and they sell it. We're not entitled to it. We're getting a great deal here by being able to watch full episodes whenever we want on YouTube at any quality.

Actually, both levels speak to the same thing. tl;dr I just want Hasbro and Studio B to get some tangible support, and I want some bronies to learn that we're not entitled to free Pony.

burning_phoneix
You really don't get enough credit for your posts. But I think the fact that my name means being "long-winded" or "unnecessarily wordy" makes people associate tl;dr posts more with me than anyone else.

Stop image spamming, we still need to talk about this.

I find this is a pretty good video to sum up the situation, it's about video games but it's still relevant if you cut to about 3:15.

I agree with the video completely.
My biggest pet peeve ( concerning this issue at least) is when people say " Those companies make millions anyways, why should I care that they aren't gonna be able to afford another yacht"
To those people I say grow the fuck up and learn economics or some shit. The CEOs aren't the only ones who get paid by your purchases.

@Giga
Nice video. Sums up well the situation. Speaking of games, that's what I do: Keep saving my money untill the day of a big release and just go buy it (and because PS3 still ain't have pirate games yet). Now when it comes to ponies, the HUB is not even a channel in my country, so what other options do I have to watch all the episodes I want besides the net? As I said, I still wanna compensate by getting some pony stuff when I get to the US, and because Hasbro really deserves it.

And with that said, I leave. Tomorrow is my last day of having to go to school and I hope to come in time for new thread opening (and that my suggestions wins the title voting /)^3^(\ )

I jelly, my technical school is screwing me out of half a week of holiday break this year (I don't get out until next thursday)

And about supporting Hasbro, I'd really like to buy some pony stuff but I still can't seem to find anything in my area. I may just have to order something sometime, like that blind bag collector's set if it's still available. If they have to resort to having more sites remove episodes, I know how it is – you gotta do what you gotta do. I wouldn't blame them.

Not much. I'm getting a cold. Everyone at work has been sick and now I'm feeling sick. Plus I'm working at an abandoned hospital so there is a funk in the air in that place.
