I don't think Algernon's 20 yet. He's just British and has seen things (I have no proof of his seeing of things, but it's the only explanation I have for his maturity.) But yeah, I'm 24. I only think of how old I am when I'm on this thread, but I guess I'm still the youngest of the oldfoals.

I have been watching the anti-piracy laws that are coming up. My union, as with all the unions in the film industry are behind the laws. We had a few years that everyone filmed out of state and even out of the country because it was cheaper. Jobs where lost, companies went out of business and I'm talking companies that were not even directly linked to the film industry but relied on the film industry for services. This past year there was a push to have more filming in Hollywood and I've been very busy because of it. I am on the fence about these new laws because I see both sides of the argument but it's not the actors or the big studios that lose jobs. It's the crew, guys like me that this kind of stuff affects. So as much as it sucks to not get stuff for free it sucks more to be unemployed.

Me and Ideo are both 20. I wonder if that qualifies us for the club…

I'm generally glad to hear the other side of an issue. I'm not sure if you're getting into piracy or stuff like that, but you're right: the pretty singers and actors/actresses aren't going to lose money. They'll just nix the crew or the sound team…people that actually do this to make a living.
 
It's true that we may not be able to watch FiM online anymore. In my case, I won't be able to watch it at all, because I don't get The HUB, and I don't make the money to allow me to get a package with it. Also, distribution of fan art and music and animation may be stopped as well.

But like Daniel said, one of the sources of my entertainment (and even a nice boost in a rather mundane life) is not equal to the worth of people trying to live and take care of families.
 
 
Maybe the best case scenario would be that only the most enforced copyrights of shows and other media would be actively censored or removed. Hasbro, itself, hasn't bothered Bronies about their material as of yet. Perhaps it can be a win/win.

I do imagine the TeamFourStar parody of Dragonball Z would go though. They've had their share of problems with FUNimation.

I understand where you are coming from, but I can't help but feel that giving the government the ability to censor websites is somewhat of a slippery slope. The companies already have the ability to take down copyrighted material if they chose to. Try posting a music video on youtube and see what happens. I just don't like this at all. Also, that GIF you posted counts as copyrighted material. You wouldn't be able to post that or any fan art if they had their way.

It would be a huge lifestyle change for Bronies. It may effectively kill off the community, along with many others, and possibly KYM along with other sites. But if people working in film and other areas are getting laid off due lost revenue from piracy or streaming, then I'll make that lifestyle change 10 out of 10 times.

Im not only talking about lifestyle change, Im talking about the power we are giving the government. You think The film industry is the only one with problems? There are always gonna be hardships in the field you work in, but becoming a police state( a bit of hyperbole) is not the answer. The dairy industry has problems that puts an enormous strain on us too. but as I can tell you, the Gov stepping in does nothing good.

Oh, of course. Ill be the first to agree. I never watch pirated movies and I actually bought season one and two of my little pony on iTunes. I just don't want people doing covers of songs, fan art, or whatever the case my be not being allowed to do that.

Another thing about parody laws, Weird Al, SNL, etc. wouldn't be able to do what they do without them in place. Hell a lot of movies are parodies. Thanks to Larry Flint too. He fought and won to make it possible. I don't see that law changing any time soon.
