The idea is to hopefuly scare the kids into staying on the path of the Amish, but it doesn't always work.
Or, I could be wrong and just humiliated myself again.

You wanna hear my headcanon?

Do ya? Do ya? Huh, huh huh?

Can we agree not to have spoilers on this page. I want to have something to do tomorrow.

I am going to sleep now and I will sleep with happiness and joy of Gamzee come back as Slendy!

And for the people who tell me to let him go before, I will flag you as a bad apple if you do it again next time, and….

DON'T TEMPT ME.

Night all!

@Conor
Sure. Head canons are always interesting. And don't worry about spoilers. I said I was gonna wait until saturday to talk about it.
@Ric
And you know what Pyros do to people who write them off and get them pissed. We BURN THEM ALIVE. That is all.

My "headcanon" is whatever the writers put in the show, because that is the only canon. That means shipping is completely and utterly illogical.

Goodnight.

In other news, did somebody actually make this?

Please, I must know. If it exists, I would buy this no matter the cost! For me this would be the next best thing since Bacon Vodka. Oh celestia, can you image mixing Bacon Vodka and Pinkie Pie Vodka?

Vodka Vodka Vodka Vodka…(slobber)…

….

…Don't drink alcohol kids!

hello everyone!
first of all, let me provide a short introduction. i'm AugustDay (obviously), many of you may know me from the MLP main meme page, where i comment considerably both in the comments section there and on many of the images uploaded.
so yeah, that's mainly what i do.

i'm here to continue a conversation i started in the comments section, which Blue Screen (of death) recommended i bring over here. it was about an idea i had for a Brony Fandom Archive. i'll just quote myself and him:

AugustDay
@AugustDay
my last comment actually brings me to another point i had intended to mention when i got online today. i’ve been thinking, that KYM (while it is a great site for meme documentation), is pathetically limited in efficiently capturing this fandom’s essence. there are so many sub-memes and fads within the brony community that this site doesn’t even mention, or simply can’t record well enough…
well, i think we should do something about it. just like some of us founded an alternative to 4chan (Ponychan), we really need a site fully dedicated to exclusive documentation of our memes. a site like KYM (with some minor differences), but with editing features closer in form to a wiki, like TV Tropes.
what do you guys think? is this something which might be really helpful? while the KYM mlp page should still be maintained, it sure would help categorize things to have our own site. if i knew enough coding, i’d do it myself. but alas, i have better ideas then i have the skills to put them into action.

Blue Screen (of death)
@Augustday
I think what you are talking about already exists
MLP wiki
Sign up for an account there and you can use that website to document all trends regarding the Brony fandom.
For instance it even has that Bon Bon article that someone tried (and failed) to make on KYM.
KYM was never designed for capturing the essence of fandoms. It is for memes, first and foremost so it only works for MLP memes.
PS: I’m a web developer and if you still want your own website for your MLP related memes, well I can make you one…for a fee. But otherwise, there are also easy Wiki template engines that you can utilize for the purpose. If you wanna talk more about this: Take it here

/end copypasta
so yeah, i was wondering what you guys thought of that idea. and to reply to Blue Screen, i am aware of the MLP wiki, but it's not exactly what i'm going for. it's a straight up wiki, designed to document the show itself. and while it does have extensive pages for background characters and that sort of thing, it doesn't really deal with the fandom specifically. my vision is for a wki-style service modeled after KYM, with some sprinkles of TV Tropes.

to elaborate, imagine KYM, where the meme pages each have separate image and video archives. now, imagine this site with pages in a wiki format, so that anyone can edit the pages, with a back-end discussion page and recent edits, (etc.). instead of here, where virtually all brony content is dumped an masse to the main page, this alternate brony KYM would be set up so that there's a place for everything, and everything has its place. people can make pages as the need arises, to account for all the endless memes and fads that pop up.
this could theoretically be done here, but it would require a ridiculous amount of pages. the fandom is simply too big for this site.

the pages could be laid out something like this:
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Memes/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic

sorry about the gigantic wall of text. i just kinda want feedback on this idea, and i don't know where else to put it. if something like this was done, it would help provide a superior place to categorize and archive events/memes/fads of the fandom itself, and maybe pull some of the traffic from this site, which i think many might consider a welcome change of pace.
of course, our pages here would still be maintained and everything, i'm just thinking that a site all to ourselves might be favorable. there's actually more details i had in mind, but i think that's enough text for one post. here's a pony:

Guys, look what you did!!!1!five!1

Oh, sh!t! Look at this!

The MY LITTLE PONY brand is eager to take girls on magical journeys of friendship and fun in 2012! Girls will adore discovering the whimsical world of pony friends, and watching their adventures unfold in the "My Little Pony Friendship is Magic" animated series created by Hasbro Studios and airing on The Hub TV network. Pony fans can act out imaginative stories of their own with delightful MY LITTLE PONY figures, playsets, and vehicles inspired by the series, including a variety of ponies and playsets inspired by the upcoming fall wedding of PRINCESS CADANCE. In 2012, licensees worldwide have come aboard to bring MY LITTLE PONY branded products inspired by the series to the global marketplace ranging from fashion apparel and accessories to publishing, arts & crafts, school supplies, domestics, and collectibles.

Guys, they didn't say broneis!!! We're doomed!1! DOOOMED!1121!

TAAAARRRRRDYYYYYYYY!!!1

Also, this might suggest that this episode(s) may air in the fall. Which means either this season is going to get really stretched out, the season is going to end differently than we thought, it might be a part of Season 3, or we can actually gather nothing from this.

Also, TAAAARRRRDYYYYYYYY!!!7!!!

Or maybe it's just an episode that takes place during the Fall? A bit optimistic I know and the least likely scenario but hey, I got nothing else :P

@Mic's apology:

All is forgiven

@AugustDay:

Would the Fan Labor Wiki cover your requirements?

http://mlpfanart.wikia.com/wiki/My_Little_Pony_Fan_Labor_Wiki

It seems to overlap with a lot of your points?

@AugustDay

Nice to see you here.

So from I understand, you are looking for separate version of KYM that is made especially for MLP so that it can be used to follow all trends that occur in the Brony fandom and has a categorization structure similar to TVTropes. So instead of all our pony image uploads being pooled into 1-4 galleries, we can spread it among several different topics

Your main motivation for this is the fact that information regarding the trifecta of trends, fandom and show is split between three websites: KYM (trends), EqD (fandom) and MLP Wiki (show).

You want a single website that covers all three of those factors. You mainly want to base this website upon KYM's format, right? Right. Well that can be done, but first, has it already been done?

I have never heard of the Fan Labor Wiki that Phoneix suggested so I don't know if it already meets your needs but I would not be surprised if what you ask for has already been done. I think the first thing you should do is do some digging on what is already out there. There are tons of MLP fansites and one might do the job already…maybe.

If it turns out that nobody out there has what you are looking for and you really want to create your own website your own way; like I said, perhaps that's something I can help you with. I build websites for a living. But what you ask for is not small. Especially if the source code for KYM/TVTropes is off limits or if people just aren't interested.

TL;DR:

I can see the merit in your idea and it intrigues me, however I'm pretty sure the thing you ask for could have been done already. Especially when it comes to repositories of artwork or catalogs of Brony news.

If it is not something anyone has done before and it is something you really want to build yourself. Brace yourself because what you ask for (a centralized hub of Brony activity and creation) is pretty big. Not as big as TVTropes or KYM but big enough to be a challenge. Both KYM and TVTropes took many months of hard work to create, expect the same.

PS:

No need to apologize for walls of text. You will find that a few of us here are quite experienced in the art of TL;DR posting

This threads contains lots of image spam and single sentence posts but it also has more walls of text than any other thread in KYM ;)

The only offense you can make in regards to walls of text is to quote an entire wall of text. Don't quote walls

To finish this novel off, have some really cool humanization

Well since we are still in art dumping mode. I'm going to post some more absolutely awesome artwork then go play some Urban Terror/Starcraft/Diablo

Q: Why post here you ask?
A: So I can find it again. Everything in that gallery get's buried under tons of other images no matter how good it is.

Nicely detailed Luna. That must have been hard to make.

@Augustday, BSoD and whoever wants a seperate site.

  • First: It might be best to check if this hasn't been done yet.
  • Second: You have to be prepared to run a site. With the constant development of the fandom, this won't be easy.
  • Third: How will the site work. Are only moderators allowed to post content (like EqD), or is every member able to request editorship on pages or make thier own (like KYM).
  • Fourth*: You have to actually make the site, making a site isn't free. And you need a person who knows how to make a webpage and maintain it.
  • Fifth: Good luck. I might be able to help out, but I'm going to stand on the sidelines first.

Ponies are one of the few things I even bother trying to draw… :P

I have a question about the fandom.

Check this out

Here's the thing. A lot of people don't seem to care or hate Facebook. And it seems to be based less on functionality and more on strong opinion of varying sorts.

That's a common sentiment that I've seen among broneis. And perhaps to a lesser extent, people on KYM.

But why? Why do broneis dislike Facebook more than those outside of the fandom? Or do they?

I don't because employers might look at my facebook if I tell them mine, but only if I made one which I did not, also I am paranoid the U.S. government is able to look at all the information I have put in my profile on facebook even after deletion. (Which is not really deleted).
Also hi everypony.

So your personal reason is for professional reasons, some paranoia, and some founded concerns about access to your data (because you can't delete your account. You're right about that.)

However, I don't think that's why many broneis don't have accounts. As such, you're suggesting that we care more about our professional appearance than others or that we're concerned that our information will be used in ways by which we did not directly consent.

I say it's possible. Although, I say that before submitting a entry, members must prove themselves. We've been getting a flood of deadpools lately, and I'd hate for the dream to be crushed under the incompetence of the entry makers. But, it's a good idea. Good luck.

@Bronies and Facebook
Ric's point makes sense. Facebook is a virtual deathtrap for people who like privacy. For closet bronies, one slip up can mean complete ruin. Since even after you delete your account (Yes, it's possible, although the effect is different……..), the info is still there. The page still exists, it's just not editable or acessable anymore, since you deleted the login acess from the name and profile. So, that's my views. I still don't have a Facebook, because even before becoming a Brony, I HATED how much people obsessed and valued it.

@Verbose and Courage
I remember back when CN actualy showed good cartoons. Courage, Samurai Jack, Dexter's Lab, Ed, Edd 'n Eddy, Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, they all were good……until the show genocide. I like to call it "The Purge". The time when all of them were moved aside for crap. I almost never watch cartoons anymore because they aren't any good, plus they replaced the shows that I loved.

Oh god, that was too damn long. I'm gonna go get myself a sandwich.

@AugustDay

I liked your ideas, and know you got good intentions, but, well, I guess Blue Screen and Random said it all.

@Verbose
Well, I gotta go with these guys: Facebook just seems kinda pointless to me and I barely use it. I was never into websites like Orkut (does that still exist?), and perhaps it was because all this "social network" thing started in a rather depressing time of my life. So yeah, it makes no sense to have an account in a friend-finder site with no friends at all. /RLrant

But that's just me, I ain't generalizing all Facebook haters or neutrals.

Perhaps it's cause it got too mainstream as I also think [ INSERT ANY HIPSTER PIC ]

I still don’t have a Facebook, because even before becoming a Brony,

That's what I'm trying to get at. I don't think it has any real connection to the show, actually.

I really want to add it to the survey now and see if there are any consistent differences among those who have an active Facebook profile and use it regularly.

EDITED Again, because I'm a jerk.

@Facebook discussion
I use Facebook because It's the easiest way to contact my friends. I don't use my mobile phone at all, If you can do something on the internet, the most wonderful place in the world, why do it anywhere else? Although, I don't really use Facebook for anything other then talking to friends. The last time I posted a status was early December.

Last edited Feb 10, 2012 at 06:03PM EST

@Verbose
A lot of the people who I know who don't have a Facebook do it for a couple reasons:
1) They don't have internet, so it's useless.
2) They are irritaed by other people obsessivly checking for updates.
3) They hate it because all the stuck-up, popular kids like it.
So, I thnk it's safe to say it has nothing to do with the show. Maybe the type of people who are most likely to become Bronies are just the type that were not into Facebook.
@Greg
I think it is. They've already announced a new Code Lyoko (Say what you want, I like it.) series. Plus, there's word that they may be resurecting some more. It will be glorious.

I hate using Facebook, but I still do for the reasons Sandwichman mentioned. I dislike it because it's so omnipresent. I primarily use it to share videos and photos with people, and sometimes for event organization, but that's about it. I don't update my status very often because I'm not vain enough to think people care what I think. That's also the same reason I refuse to join Twitter.

Come to think of it, I guess I dislike most social media platforms because I can't escape them. I do what I can; I adblock all sorts of little facebook and twitter and digg buttons, because I would never use them, and I hate seeing them everywhere.

As for being open about being a brony over social media, it hasn't happened yet, and it's unlikely too, unless in private. If someone asks, I'd tell, but I wouldn't broadcast it.

/rant

@Verbose
I use facebook regularly but I'm not sure why. I spend a lot of my time on facebook getting annoyed or printscreening stuff, showing it to my friends and saying "LOOK AT THAT IDIOT! WHAT AN IDIOT!". Occasionally I'll see something that one of my friends posted which interests me but generally most of the posts that show up on my wall are of no interest to me or just annoy me. I guess it's useful for organising stuff but I hate facebook chat with a burning passion so I tend to not use that. Also my band has a facebook page which is handy for inflating our egos by looking at the amount of fans we have.

Hey everyone. Thought I'd drop in and say I'll be gone for a couple days due to reasons beyond my control (read: father). I'm currently posting this on my PS3's terribad browser.

@Randomman

First: It might be best to check if this hasn’t been done yet.

That's what I suggested to Augustday

Second: You have to be prepared to run a site. With the constant development of the fandom, this won’t be easy.

Seconded. Keeping websites maintained is work, the more traffic it gets, the more work involved. And Brony websites can easily get a ton of traffic that will be difficult to manage for an inexperienced admin.

Third: How will the site work. Are only moderators allowed to post content (like EqD), or is every member able to request editorship on pages or make thier own (like KYM).

That's not really something that can be determined at this stage where Augustday's website is merely an idea. Augustday needs to plan out his project scope if he really wants to go ahead with this. But the vibe I get is that we can assume identical functionality to KYM

Fourth*: You have to actually make the site, making a site isn’t free. And you need a person who knows how to make a webpage and maintain it.

We'll I'm one such person. But then again, I'm just one person. A project like this needs a team.

Fifth: Good luck. I might be able to help out, but I’m going to stand on the sidelines first.

Yea, its just an idea at this point so. Nobody should be taking any kind of action until that idea gets off the ground. I can't help Augustday with anything until I get a well defined and well researched project spec.

@Verbose

Why do broneis dislike Facebook more than those outside of the fandom? Or do they?

I don't think it's a Brony thing, rather it is a general internet opinion thing. Go ahead and ask that question anywhere else. Facebook hatred is extremely commonplace

People use Facebook reluctantly. We know we have no privacy (I'm not kidding, FB's privacy policies are all utter and complete bullshit). We know our shit gets stolen from it. We know its allowing the internet to track us everywhere we go. And yes, employers do check Facebook accounts!

We only use it because everyone, our friends and families are on it.

The only security I have on my own facebook account is the fact my name is so common, employers can't find the real me if they tried searching. Though if they did find it, they might find the ponies on my Facebook Timeline banner a bit curious.

Ric Te$l@ wrote:

Mic is a guy who runs a livestream for ponies. This is nothing new, neither is the donation link he has apparently. However, he livestreamed the leaked episode, and people were so happy about seeing it early, they donated a lot of money to him (i.e. 1.7k US.)

I and others were upset, because it seemed like he was trying to get money from Hasbro from something that isn't his and on a mistake that Hasbro didn't make (it was likely iTunes fault.)

He didn't have a problem with accepting donations or airing the episode early (even though it's stepping on copyrights of those responsible for the existence of our community and we're already afraid Hasbro's going to drop the hammer,) but he was upset about getting so much money. So he's returning the larger sums and will refund any who asks.

I'm not as mad with him now, but I still think he has the wrong mindset. He didn't care about the property of Hasbro or making money from it. He cared about getting so much. And you know me: the reason you feel a certain way is just as important as how you feel.

@BSoD

What I was trying to get at is that I feel like broneis don't like social networking sites moreso than other people on the Web. You may be right in that it is a wide-spread thing among people who spend a lot of time online, but I feel like those who become broneis are more likely to not use them.

There's reluctant and there's not using it. A lot of broneis I've read about in other threads and blogs don't use social networking sites at all. I find it curious, but I guess I've gotten enough of an answer.

Also,

Are you a bad enough dude to watch a shoutout on a network many of us are disappointed in?

@burning_phoneix
i was not aware of that wiki, thank you.
it's still not exactly what i'm looking for though, but it is definitely a similar idea.

@Blue Screen (of death)
exactly, i think you caught what i was thinking of quite well. it'd be great to have a website for documenting MLP memes specifically, since this site is simply too confined for archiving the myriad memes and fads this fandom puts out almost daily. i will certainly be looking around the interwebz to see if it has already been done, no doubt.

@Random Man
thanks for the reply. and i totally understand, making a site (especially for this explosive fandom) would be maddeningly time-intensive. it'd take a massive commitment of time and energy just to get it started, not to mention actually maintaining it.

as for how it'd work, i'm thinking of a site similar to this one. each page would have a seperate image gallery and video repository. the page layouts themselves would be like a wiki though. there wouldn't be a view counter for pages (since that's not really important), though i suppose a way to favorite certain entries (and of course images and video) would be great. i'm thinking that anyone with an account could make a page/upload content/edit things (except for certain moderator specific areas, obviously. and mods would have the ability to remove/merge entries deemed redundant). people can alter tags on images at will (hopefully meaning that regulars will self-moderate, tagging most images and keeping things clean). if an image is tagged with a page's title, then it automatically appears in that page's image archive. this way, an image of Derpy Hooves and Doctor Whooves together would appear on the page of both characters. this would be very handy, and put things where they need to go. there wouldn't be any sub-pages or anything like on KYM, since everything is related to ponies. Meta pages would probably exist, but that's not so important right now. also, pages/images/video that are given the NSFW value would not show anywhere else on site, unless a user has it set on their account to display these things. this way, pro-shipping/R34 (which i'm not personally too fond of, but in the interest of unbiased documentation, would allow) could be found here without getting in the way of people who don't want to see it. i probably wouldn't have a front page for breaking news and stuff, like on KYM, simply because EqD already does that, and they do it way better then i could.
there's more, but i think you get the general idea.

@Blue Screen
thanks so much guys, i really wasn't expecting quite such a big response XD
to be honest, i wasn't really considering running it myself. i simply don't have the time, nor the experience to run something that big. i mean, i'm 16 years old and most of my time is taken up with AP Biology and Chinese language class. as it is, trying to keep up with this fandom essentially removes all my free time. and i don't really have much in the way of funds either. i would absolutely love to do something like this, but i know that to do it right (and if i were to start this, i'd want to finish it), i'd need more time to dedicate to it. perhaps this summer
i really appreciate everyone's feedback.
you guys are so awesome!

i've been working on this post for a couple hours on and off, lol. i probably forgot something XD

Ahh, I see where you are coming from now. In that case that really could be a worthwhile question to ask Bronies in a poll

There is a conception that Bronies are also the kind of people who are more introverted and are not that interested in social activity. Could there be some truth to that? Your question might shed some light on the matter.

I just saw Fluttershy. I acknowledge no shipping, but that hurts, man. It hurts me.

@BSoD

I added that question by itself to the questionnaire with the blessing of opspe. Calpain has not responded (and I need to get that link to Muumi,) so we don't have any more data on anything.

It'd be interesting to see. And if the survey is enjoyable enough and people wouldn't mind more items, then another survey (months down the line) might shed more light on who broneis are.

I don't know.

I need to get to bed before I watch the new episode before it airs. But I think it'll be worth the wait from what others have said.
