@RusselC

Okay, sorry.

Problem is, we have dealt with people who have said that kind of stuff…except they were dead serious and really believed that MLP is the one fandom to rule them all. We didn't find them funny.

So I guess you kind of touched a raw nerve.

@Russel

Please don't go. Please stay and tell us how you clearly know so much about us

You have not caused any trouble at all. You only have raised my curiosity.

I'm being honest with you, I want to hear your research.

yes Gamzee please stay

So, I just watched the new episode. And by that I mean I watched the episode an hour ago and then spent the last hour catching up on this thread. You guys never think of poor Sandwichman, having to read through all your well thought out meaningful discussion.

Anyway, the episode was alright I suppose. The song was pretty funny but not that catchy or musically inspiring. The CMC's antics were pretty funny. The baby talk was cringe worthy to say the least. But I think the worst thing about this episode was Big Mac. I'm not sure what it is about him, but I just hate him. I suppose it's because he is such an under developed character, I hate it when people say Big Mac is one of their favorite characters because I see it as equivalent to saying plank is the best Ed, Edd n' Eddy character.

On the subject of hating characters, the more I hear people talking about Luna Eclipsed the more I start to think I'm the only person in the world that didn't like that episode. It may be because I never really cared about Luna as a character. I might re-watch it at some point to try to work out exactly what I didn't like about it.

Damn, Russel deleted all of his posts. There goes my fun I guess.

For those who never saw Russels post. Here's what happened

He made a remark that he thought was funny in his own mind. It was a joke about "cheating on the fandom for another fandom"

Except it was wasn't funny. It was something we all heard before from people who were serious about it. We can take jokes here, we get them all the time. But his was not one of them.

We know that only trolls make remarks like he did, nobody here is that zealous about this fandom so he got downvoted. That's simply what we do to suspected trolls

When he saw that he got downvoted for not being funny, he backpedaled by making up this excuse that it was all part of some social experiment he was doing

I'm not fooled by that however because his "experiment" actually doesn't give his any information about us here on this forum and how we roll, other than the fact that we don't like it when people pretend that this fandom is "TEH BEST THING EVAR" which he implied in his posts.

To hide this, he pretended that we are all too sensitive to understand what his "expiriment" was about. He thought that he would "start a shitstorm". Kid vastly underestimates us. That's when I knew he was bullshitting.

Evidently he didn't realize that this thread has a long history of debates and discussion made by some of the most level-headed posters in the forum and it also has a history of shitstorms that were caused by strifes far greater than a simple disagreement in opinion.

He also was clearly unaware that many people here, myself included are university graduates/students who have full semesters of experience in debate and study. We aren't just kids who post ponies. Some of us also study and analyse the Brony fandom and culture so we have our own little facts and theories we could have shared with him too.

If he is doing some sort of experiment on us, I challenged him to bring it out and tell us all what he found so he could make us "devolve into shitstorm" with his oh-so-controversial findings. He fled the scene after that.

TL;DR:

Some kid thinks he knows something about Bronies just by making 5 posts. (Bitch please, if he wants to know about Bronies he needs to sit down and listen to me lecture him on the months I have spent studying our own culture.)

I challenged him. He makes up excuses and runs away

I was bored and I needed the entertainment

You aren't making yourself understood.

You are quite welcome to post corrections were you see fit. I'm only posting my best speculation. You will find I'm quite reasonable

But since you are leaving, goodbye and have a nice day.

PS: Overanalysis is actually how I have fun on this thread. Don't take it too personally.

[edit]

Ah yes, the truth comes out! Nice to see you again then Ivan. Do continue.

Last edited Feb 11, 2012 at 11:03PM EST

Really? Haha

My friend, I think you overanalyzed the overanalysis ;)

You see when Derpy talked, we were not actually going "Psycho". It's just something called excitement. It's perfectly normal. Plus its funny and entertaining to take it overboard sometimes.

But look, nobody is making a huge deal of it now. That time has passed.

You could have played along with the Derpy excitement, or just ignored it. But it isn't something to carry a huge grievance over, especially when all the Derpy business has long since passed

[edit]

OK, he deleted his posts again. New explanation:

So apparently Ivan came back for a while and revealed that he is upset about this fandom getting too crazy over things and generating large amounts of over-analysis. He listed Derpy's first lines as an example. Although nobody is really upset/excited over that anymore

He made his earlier posts to try and gauge how frantic we still are about things. I'm glad he decided to come back for a moment to clear that up.

So in essence I ended up proving his point about over analyzing things because that is what I did with his posts. Although his posts did not prove that we go completely nuts over small things. Negakarma means "We think you are trolling" not "ZOMG! RAGE!"

He still needs to address the question however as to why over analysis crosses the line and upsets him. Because really, over analysis is something I only do for my own entertainment and anyone is free to ignore it. In fact, analysis is something we have always done in this thread, why would it upset him now? How that is harmful or negative in any kind of way?

All I know at this point is that the Derpy fiasco is what set him over the edge. I can understand that. That really made a lot of people tense and frustrated, more than it should have.

The plot thickens

@Blue
Thanks. Too bad I missed the playing mind games with the troll part. I would have loved to fuck with his mind.

I thought RandomMan checked their IPs and figured out that Gamzee wasn't Ivan.

They are not. I have word from the swagrabbit himself. End of discussion.

BSoD? I know Ivan is having a hard time, but he doesn't merit attention in my mind. I gave your first post krama for being well-thought out and entertaining though.

I have been proven wrong. The survey indicated that not many who got took the survey bought any official merchandise. I guess we're different from those who follow merchandise news and EqD though.

But good for broneis, and good for Hasbro. They can't say who bought the items, but I have trouble believing that it was the parents of the target demographic that bought ALL the stock in under a day.

@Verbose

I'll leave him alone if he posts again…which he probably won't.

I was just bored, I needed something to analyse and comprehend and I got all excited when this "unknown user" just comes out of nowhere and leaves an enigma for me to compute. But I guess I had my fun. I'm going to go cook some dinner now.

RusselC = Ivan

Russel told me that right before he deleted his posts.

Gamzee = Slendy and is still here posting in JFF

So then why does he feel not wanted here and why is he getting downvoted?
I read his comments didn't feel it deserved that many downvotes.
WTF guise?

Last edited Feb 12, 2012 at 12:36AM EST

Honestly, we had no idea it was Ivan at that time. If we did he wouldn't have been downvoted.

We thought he was just some random troll. Like I said earlier, he managed to hit a nerve with the whole "cheating on the fandom thing"

As for not feeling wanted. It sounded like he was upset that we were getting all hyped up over things, namely Derpy. That's why he left. I should have taken a screenshot of his posts.

@The Ivan issue
I'll see if I can contact him. He's not showing up on my Steam friends list, so that's out. But, I can't see why he would delete me. I didn't even try and get worked up over the Derpy incident, I really didn't see the point of it. I hope he gets over this and returns.

@Berry
Possibly. I have a lot of other things on my mind right now other than burning stuff, for some reason. I don't know why. Mostly it's Luna, but there are other things. The fire has taken the back seat for a couple days for reasons not yet understood. Also, I don't know why everything's gone to shit now. Maybe it's me?

Anyway, have some Fluttertree, all nice and Christmas-like:

Hopefuly it'll cheer everyone up.

I noticed that the response to this new episode was lukewarm. I liked it a lot personally. So Ivan91 left because of a derpy argument? too bad, I liked the guy. I don't get why people on this thread get so mad.
TWILIGHT CAN TIME TRAVEL?!?!

And one day we will all have Erectile dysfunction, hair loss, crows feet, etc.
We can't worry about the future, just enjoy the present.

Re: The episode discussion

I liked it a lot as well. A lot of the complaints stem that Big Mac and Cherilee's "Baby Talk" was annoying.

But my reaction is: Duh! Of course it's annoying! Didn't you see nearly every character on the show recoiling in horror and disgust. It's an incentive for you, the viewer, to support the CMC's actions in getting them back to normal and also increases suspense in the final "marriage" scene.

Entertainment is not only about creating positive feelings but also negative feelings in order to contrast and amplify the positive feelings you get, making them stronger and clearer.

Admit it, you let out a sigh of relief that Cherilee and Big Mac weren't gonna spend an eternity calling each other baby names. That's the point, to get you to desire the happy ending.

It happens in many movies, for example in the classic 1963 film "I It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" Ethel Merman plays Mrs.Marcus, a completely annoying and total bitch. She literally grates on my ears whenever she's in a scene but you cheer whenever something bad happens to her (The final scene in particular).

But if that movie to classic for your…..mainstream tastes, another example is Dolores Umbridge from the Harry Potter movies and books, she's a total racist bitch but at the end when she gets her comeuppance for calling Centaurs "sub-humans" and is dragged off in the middle of the night to be raped by a herd of centaurs, you cheer for her punishment….no wait….that's actually really horrible! I would never wish that on anybody!

WTF ROWLING?! SERIOUSLY WTF?

But my original point still stands….negative emotions must be had so you can experience positive emotions.

Well, since it's in some sort related to the thread in general… here's a drawing Ric asked me for (altough I might haven't got it just as he asked me for but close).

He wanted a drawing of him in pony form with Gamzee (now Slendy) features, so now he's a slender-pony. Let's just assume slenderman's suit gives you his "powers", so now instead of wings, he's got purple tentacles.

Now that I look at it closer, he looks sort of evil… O.O

Actually, I'm taking comissions at my drawing thread at the JFF forums if you have any (there's all the info you need to know). But… don't ask me to draw a lot of ponies… it was too hard for me to draw him since I'm not used to draw animals in general, or even adapt myself to a particular style. Also, don't expect awesome-Muumi-quality, I'm not as great as him.

Also, sorry for almost-derailing the thread!

OH MY GOD

I'm not the only one who knows about that movie!

It's one of my all-time favourites. Ethel Merman was the best character, but she was an annoying bitch. (best scene)

>Time traveling episode announced
>No one has made this refrence:

Episode:

  • Not too bad, but not too stellar. Also sorta awkward.
  • Big Mac begins speaking entirely in pet names "GAH, this is NOT what I had in mind when I asked for more Big Mac dialouge!"
  • During the song: did Sweetie come out of an ambulance and crash a BUCKING FUNERAL?!
  • On a lighter note (pun not intended): Arcade games confirmed, yipee!
  • Jelly pony, for the love of celestia why? As a matter of fact, did the CMC just find all the most derranged colts in the town? (granted disco colt and jelly himself were damned awesome)
  • Big Mac is motherbucking Hercules, holy shit an entire house? Also how did that rope not break?
  • That ending, wait where they trolling or srs?

Sorry, AJ.

@Verbose
That goes too far against my headcanon to be sad. Everyone knows dragons live for thousands of years.

You want sad? I'LL GIVE YOU SAD

I am not liable for any drowning in tears that may occur while reading that fic.

I thought of something to talk about!

I was talking to opspe earlier about what it would be like for the KYM Brony Community to live in one big apartment building.
You can choose to be either yourself or some form of your avatar.
Form? Reactions? Wondering oh Celestia why?

I call the bottom floor. I want to be closest to the exit when pyro lights the thing up.

When means by extension, you now like the last episode of MLP.

MY LOGIC IS FLAWLESS!

Hmm, this whole thread in one apartment?

We could have IRL Synctubes! Except with a TV and a DVD player.

If you don't like loud music, living near opspe would be tough. But that doesn't include me so I reckon we could get along pretty good.

But if I catch Dac-Attack clopping in the shower, there will be hell to pay.

One of the best comedies. Just about everyone who was someone in comedy at that time is in it. Even Buster Keaton and the three stooges ware in it. Good to see that you guys like it so much. Next synchtube let's watch it.
