Obviously, it's due to the presence of Dan. During the course of the show you only have other diabeetus inducing ponies/non-pony critters to visually compare them to. Eventually your subconcious d'aaaawometer adjusts accordingly, and you can only diferentiate between cute (now baseline) and cuter. With the presence of a not so spectacular looking human in the exact same frame, you are reminded of just how cute the ponies actually are.

Really, the reason most people are trolls about this is because they lurk 4chan, which used to be absolutely FILLED with pony content pretty much all the time. It also used to be a problem on this website, but not to the extent of 4chan and other websites. They just got tired of seeing it, and seeing as anons tend to be assholes, they take it out on bronies to 'get them back.'

I personally don't have a problem with pony content, but that's just me. Some people really can't stand it.

As for Gamzee, I don't know the details. But deactivated accounts can be reactivated. So if he changes his mind, the damage can be fixed.

That's the basic reason behind most of the trolling that happens across Bronies in general. But I'm thinking in much more specific terms.

To give you an example: What could be a trolls motive behind specifically attempting to raid the KYM MLP image gallery with unflattering images? And yet those same trolls don't attack this thread in the forum or Bronies personally? (I'm thinking of specific users that have done this) The reason behind that could be more specific than your average hater and I'm curious what it could be

I wonder if some troll motives are caused by feelings of intimidation: The troll see's that a certain article in KYM is not just being used for documenting a meme, but also to supplement a community that discusses non-meme related things. Because KYM articles are not really meant for community discussion (that's what the forum is for), the troll may see this as misuse of KYM's services as it causes that meme to constantly trend. This in turn, can result in feelings of retribution or intimidation regardless of any previous resentment gained from 4chan

The mature way to handle that has already been done: We have seen some people make requests on the forum for features that filter out MLP images from the trending bar. But not everyone is so mature about such things. The immature way to handle it is to leave hateful spam in the MLP comment section to try and break up the community that has been established there and that's exactly what some trolls may be trying to do.

That's a theory anyway. I could be wrong and I'm happy to hear alternate theories.

The trolls don't attack the threads here in the forums cause they know they'd get karma bombed to Hell and back and unlike ratings on pictures for the page, those ratings do show up on your profile and we'd easily be able to identify the trolls via that.

Another thing to keep in mind is like that King of All Butt Hurt (oh the irony) guy who goes "itsforgirlsyourallfagsandqueers" and such who think it's odd that we enjoy a show meant for small children, despite Faust CONSTANTLY saying she made it for families and such, including the adult male members.

Simple, it's like Abra said, anons. 4chan threads often get derailed with porn and gore. Haters did that to pony threads since the beginning. They apply it here as well, but in smaller numbers. Besides, if they really start uploading porn, it's a ban.

The comments had multiple people complaining about the constant trending of the article. Mainly because people were using the comments as a forum/chat. That isn't what the comments are for, we have a forum here. The name is also quite big, it takes up quite some room on the trending bar. I remember when it first was off trending, someone actually made a thread to celebrate it.

Besides, people are free to use the comments on other articles in the same way. Currently MLP is just THE biggest fandom online, so you just have to learn that it's everywhere. Whether you like it or not. But with the constant change on the web, this might be a whole lot different in a few years.

And the people requesting it for the sake of themselves are just being selfish. Some have found their own solutions, like adding special codes to their adblock so it won't pop-up. I don't really mind those, although some do take it too far.

I'm going to agree with Random here; it reflects badly on the site if too many special measures are taken to limit the visibility of the MLP entry and images, because, as he said, that is discrimination. Now, there are always going to be trolls who upload…bad images to the entry, and we'd be hard-pressed to try to stop them outright. Our mods tend to be pretty good about cleaning stuff up, and in all honesty, KYM isn't the best source for pony-related images anyways, so I'm not too fussed if there are a few trolls around. Actually, I haven't actually been on the entry page for months – the forums are infinitely better and easier to read than the comments.

As for motivations, all I have to say is trolls will be trolls.

I disagree with Random man. He is too weak and stupid and has no balls and he shoots like a girl. If only a real mod was here, he would save everyone and save the bronies because that mod is awesomer and has a billion girlfriends and a huge dong….

I did not. If I had bought it on iTunes, then I would have been more likely to watch it.myself, but not present it on YouTube or anything. Purchasing it legitimately means I have some right to watch it. That is iTunes/The Hub's fault.

But I'm not watching it on YouTube or on the livestream. FiM is Hasbro's product, and both YouTube and livestream is stepping all over their rights to distribute the product. Hasbro has allowed broneis a lot of freedoms with the show and how it's distributed, and so I'm a little bit upset towards anyone taking advantage of them.
 
You know Hasbro didn't want us to see that episode this early when the episode got pulled from iTunes. I don't think many people were oblivious to the fact. But then again, it's the Internet. There are some people who will take advantage of anything if they can. There are probably a few who regret it in hindsight, and there are (a lot more) people who chose to not watch it until Saturday. Some out of ritutal, some out of respect for the fan/DHX/Hasbro relationship/some people it's just not that serious.
 
So I'm actually proud of the brony community for showing restraint in larger numbers than I would have expected.

Holy crap. De-ja-vu. I remember this conversation. I remember telling you guys about it. I remember Dac's death wish, the trolling discussion, all of it. God, I need more sleep. Did you guys hear about what happened last night? Mic the Microphone got over 1.5 K in donations last night. He was so shocked by the generosity, he's giving all the people who donated his Skype and one of his mods is making a group shot of their OCs. He also fought Pedro and cried for about 40 minutes. People were donating in the hundreds. One guy even gave 250. I gave about 20 bucks, but Mic was just so goddamn happy to even get any money. I now have a little faith restored in people. A LITTLE. I still don't approve of most.

That's something you'll have to determine for yourself. But personally, I can only either get iTunes (which I don't want to do,) buy the DVDs (which I have, but they won't be here for a month, and they don't have all of the episodes,) or watch online. I don't have the money to buy a monthly cable package that includes the Hub, nor does it makes sense to get a different package for just one show (because all I normally watch is ESPN and occasionally Cartoon Network…when they're airing cartoons, that is.) So I don't want the kind of restrictions I've seen on other shows uploaded to YouTube, because bronies are taking advantage of it.

I don't mind it as a General feature, I never will. It's a good idea. It's the same as the option to get a warning when clicking on NSFW entries

But the people who suggested that feature suggest it for MLP 90% of the time, only to work on the MLP related content. That is what I find childish, not the feature itself in general.

This is actually pretty funny since someone on the main page was saying that we were whining about Forever Alone's views. Just a tad bit hypocritical in my opinion when people are whining about MLP: FiM.

So I went and watched the episode… obviously I'm not gunna spoil anything for y'all but I felt it was pretty good.

Fortunately I already payed for the episode so I can go about watching it guilt free! But let's just try to make sure this leak doesn't cut into the show's premiere profits too much. Anyone who's got the Hub should watching on saturday regardless if they've seen it already.

It's always been a battle with haters who complained about it always being on top of the trending bar. Some bronies just want to stick it to the haters and some just like that it's on top and some like you and I don't care.

I'm all for the glorious cause that is ponies, but I think the MLP entry keeps the trending bar from doing it's job. After all, just about everyone knows what MLP is, and it's lengthy title keeps other entries from appearing as well.

Before you go and judge him, the donations were up long before the episode was out. They were to fund his trip to BroNYcon. It was never meant to make money off the leaked episode. Also, watch this. It will clear everything up.

He's really not trying to scam Hasbro. It was just a coincidence that the day of the leaked episode was the day he got so much money.

I took that awhile ago and it almost said I'm most like Pinkie, but I got Rarity instead by what looked like 1 or 2 answers.

It made sense because of some of the answers I put in, but I lol'd because I'm always laughing to myself about how my brother reminds me of her because he's rather dramatic and hates getting dirty with a passion.

And yeah, this account deactivation business is getting weird. I mean it was bad enough that rapturjesus never trolled me back before deactivating his account but now more people are doing it just for the lulz it seems.
