Yes I know that I have nothing against bronies but this is like an experiment to see why it is heralded.

Bronies, I have a question for you:

I just want to know, how did you become a fan of the show at first?

I actually found kym around the same time I found ponies.

Oh and hey, good job Harshwinny.

@Thread Title

Damn, I was liking 'Lyra in the sky with diamonds'. I was hoping for a thread titled after best pone.

But the people have spoken

Alright, so we are decided, yes? The new thread title (if we make it that far) shall be as the polls dictate. The next thread will receive a cease and desist following one small horse

@Thread Title
I honestly hated all of them, and wanted to go with the switch up so that we didn't have a year of living with a "meh" title. It's kind of why I didn't vote – no option was even close to one I wanted.

We're not doing the drama of last year though, so just make sure you're going to be happy with this subtitle for the next year. I personally think the humor will wear off quick, but we'll just have to see.

P.S. If you bring up the Ponies for Prosperity thing again next time, I will set your computer on fire.

Well, blame her.

Yes, if it wasn't this adorable derp, I wouldn't even know this site, let alone you guys. #SaveDerpy to be exact, that caught my attention for this show.

IF I remember, I started watching this since I joined KYM, somewhere between October 2012. Most of the stuff I like was the porn artwork of the fans, but it wasn't until recently I catched up all of the episodes within the last three months.

And anyway: @Vehicles

Can't really deliver HQ post now…

I'm honestly really glad that one didn't win. I just didn't like it that much. It's like it sounds like an inside joke, except it isn't one.

Technically, there could still be a little drama. There were 24 votes, yet somehow only 22 people gave their username--despite the username being a requirement. One of those usernames was "I totally didn't vote twice." Even if all three votes are disqualified, C&D would still win, so it's kind of a moot point.

Really, I don't think too many give much thought to the thread title. We have our fun picking it, and then once the next thread starts, it's promptly forgotten as people just click the link and get to the most recent page to read and post. Think about it, how many times have you thought about "Live Free or Twi Hard" since the infamous last election?

I think I know who did the "stop the superPAC shit" username last runoff. It's for 30 pages a thread, once a page at most, at the very end of a normal post. Don't like it, skip over it.

Your threats are idle. My brother works in IT and has a pile of laptops sitting in our spare bedroom. If this thinkpad went up, there's ten that could replace it. Our laptops will blot out the sun!

When I found out about MLP, it was from a YTP called "My Little Porno: Friendship with Benefits"

I didn't know about the fandom, until three days after it came out, when a comment in the video said "What's a Brony?' And I had no idea of it, and someone replied to that comment to the KYM article about it, After reading it, I thought it was just a bunch of people who would get high or drunk, and watch it, because as far as I saw from the YTP, its really fucking colorful, and isn't being drunk or high makes your vision weird, so seeing the colors would make it even more trippy I guess. I don't know what is the effects when you are high or drunk, and I didn't really look more deep into it at that point.

When I got a new laptop, I was hyped because I could finally play TF2 for the first time, and I realized How big it actually is. when servers was dedicated to it. When playing it, I kinda was starting to hate it, because alot of people when they put their sprays up on the wall, its Rule 34 of it. And I had the impression, it was just some people who did see it in that view. But now looking back on it, it was either trolls, or people who tried to "stop" it, because this was the summer where it grow exponentially! But like a month or two later, I was talking to a few people on a server of the game, and they were just talking about it, and that's when I had to know, what is this about, not the just the show, the fandom itself.

So to even begin looking at the fandom, I had to know the show, So, On Halloween of 2011, I usually watch a horror movie, since I really don't watch them a whole lot, and its usually when I watch one. That year was 1978's Halloween, and Since I'm a fucking pansy, I usually have something to watch if I got freaked out to much, and had to stop it, and just watch something that isn't the thing that was freaking me out. The first episode of MLP, was the thing for it. Though I got by the movie just fine, I still had to see this. After seeing it, I made a schedule to watch more, At first, One episode a week. Then Two episodes per week, then an episode a night, then finally, "Lets get the first season over with." And the finale of the first season, was the point where I unconsciously succumbed to it. My brain was still fighting it, but I wasn't really resisting it at all.

Soon enough, I caught up with the season 2 when it was like 10 episodes in I think, and was able to watch the show, as it came out. I didn't have an idea on how to really dive in the fandom, so I decided, The image gallery of MLP on KYM, was the place I should go to. A̶n̶d̶ ̶t̶h̶a̶t̶'̶s̶ ̶h̶o̶w̶ ̶E̶q̶u̶e̶s̶t̶r̶i̶a̶ ̶w̶a̶s̶ ̶m̶a̶d̶e̶. And that's how I kinda became a fan, and how I kinda been in the fandom really.

Sorry for being TL;DR, but that's kinda how it went, I wasn't one of those who immediately started to get into it, as soon as they heard about it. There are more details about the whole ordeal, but Its already gone to long. So yea, that's how it is. Here's Fluttershy with a mustache.

Bronies, I have a question for you:

During September, 2011, I was browsing through the Gametrailers forums when I discovered that some signatures were overwhelmed with something like this and my mind was like "hey, this art's smooth! I wanna know more"

If my memory's not mistaken, shortly after that discovery, I found a blog in that same site that had a review of everything about Season 1, from the characters to the episodes. It ended teasing something about this guy called Discord, and I was like "Discord? What's a Discord?", but of course, it was the time when Season 2 already started.

So, it was September 24th (yeah, I wrote that down later, just to make sure), I went to youtube, typed in "Friendship is Magic", watched the first three episodes, thought that I needed to watch more. September 28th arrived, I had watched the first eleven episodes of the first season. And then I knew it… I had to get my fix of the rest of the episodes.

I first found ponies on Know Your Meme when I first browsed the site in March 2011. Ponies weren't really popular on the websites I went on at the time, so I didn't see them before I went on KYM.

The article for My Little Pony was getting popular so I read it. The article said the show was popular and had an embedded video of the first episode, so I watched the first episodes and became a fan, then I watched the rest of the episodes that had aired.

@Titles: I know I said this, but to be honest the C&D joke title kinda bothers me, kinda depressing and upsetting given these things happening in the fandom.

@Origin: I was actually originally a flat-out Pony-Hater, I was getting annoyed seeing it on a Fire Emblem forum I used to go to, predictably I had the common mocking/hateful attitude to MLP that all pop culture did (stemming from the originals) so it got irritated to hear people say positive things about this "stupid cartoon for steretypical little girls". However I did always have a sort of morbid fascination with this stuff, which eventually lead me to start checking out Pony stuff on here and even signed up to comment on it.
After mocking and negative comments (one of my very first comments was talking about shooting Sweetie Belle to death with a MAC-10), I eventually came to this very thread to sort out a couple questions I had: Why did people apparently sometimes pair up Lyra with her genderbent Rule 63 self, is she a narcissist? (No, some Bronies just really like "selfcest") And is "filly" a real word or a made-up MLP term? (The former, to my great surprise at the time)
That would've been it but I ended up getting drawn back in. It probably didn't hurt that I was banned from said Fire Emblem forum and was looking for a new "internet home" at the time, I eventually ended up picking this place, everyone was nice to me (unlike the FE forum, where everyone pretty much treated me like shit, admittedly some of it was my fault but not all of it was and ultimately that didn't make it feel any better) and I felt at home here (unlike the Jagged Alliance forum I joined shortly beforehand, where people were generally decent to me but I never really managed to properly "join in" and a few others where it was the same story).
Eventually I started to transition from "venomous MLP hater" to "bewildered outsider" and my attitude and behavior changed to match. I even started to browse Derpibooru too!
I was always afraid to actually watch the show though, for fear of "going full Brony", as some of that Pony hater attitude hadn't really left me. Eventually I gave in though, wanting to try it, wanting to join in better and kinda realizing that MLP haters don't gleefully and somewhat obsessively browse the KYM Pony Gallery and Derpibooru.
So that's how I got where I am now! Sorry for such a long story and hope I didn't miss out anything of importance.

If I may speak of hate for a second, I have a confession… My Princess Luna hatred seems to be relapsing, maybe my Vinyl Scratch hate too…

On a sidenote, Spike Theft Auto!

And Derpy doesn't really understand "bunny suit"…

The last time I posted in here a few months ago, I had some pony club chalkings and a new plushie to show you. But this time, I have a new plushie and pony club chalkings to show you.
But first the chalk things:

The base vector for that spitfire picture originally had her in her flight suit, but we didn't have the right color of blue, so everyone finally took my suggestion and we drew her naked.

A dead parrot once told me "The plush train never stops!"
…he was right.

The creator was Littlestplushshoppe on Etsy. It was relatively cheap, as are most of her creations.

Some guy with a PhD in space stuff told me to get it, because having spiffer is better than having money. And that's great, because I have no money anymore.

Comedy always comes from tragedy. That's why I loved this title so much (and voted for it). Not saying you have to like the joke, but saying it's depressing because of recent fandom events is kinda missing the point of the joke if you ask me.

I don't get it, is the thread mascot supposed to be a number? If that's the case, I fully support the number 1. In other words, you should change the numeric field to a text one.

@Other things
Well, this season went by fast. I'm quite surprised that we are back in yet another hiatus. The good thing is that the fandom hardly stops producing and there will be plenty of pone to enjoy, or so I hope.

@Kez

That's so cool! I love the detail on it and the fluffy looking mane. Now I want one of these too as well as the one I asked from DP (BTW DP, let me know if you still need anything)

@XTR09

I vote 2 for our mascot. He's clearly better than 1

Personally, I really don't like the new thread title, and not just because it beat out my sexy Beatles reference. I don't understand where the funny is exactly. How are we one pony away from a cease and desist? Is there something about the number 9 which seems to attract C&Ds or something?

Is the joke just in the fact that we're making a reference to C&Ds? People say comedy=tragedy+time, but I'm pretty sure wit has to factor in there somewhere…

Because can you imagine Hasbro trying to crack down on pony threads? That would be ridiculous and (to me at least) that's what makes it funny.

@Verbose:
Is there really all that much drama? Like, some people said they don't like the winning title and why they don't like it while others have defended the winning title, with maybe one negative karma given out this whole time. Is that not to be expected any time there is a thread election? There's no demand for a re-vote (or a vote about the re-vote), there's no poll rigging, and there's no legitimate reason for why the winning title doesn't deserve winning title. I fail to see where all this drama is.

C&D Joke Title:
Maybe, but there are a couple issues here:
1) This is a case of Too Soon since we've had some very recent sore spots with this, like Jan. Not nearly enough time for the wound to heal.
2) There also needs some humor in this humor, what's really the joke here? 'Cause there needs to be something more than "Look, a highly unpleasant thing that's caused much misery to this fandom in the past! HAHA!". Honestly, put that way it sounds like what you might get if you called upon Aaron Seltzer and Jason Friedberg to write for 4chan trolls… I could easily be wrong, so if I am, could someone explain what the joke is? Basically, what Fifths said too.

Because can you imagine Hasbro trying to crack down on pony threads? That would be ridiculous and (to me at least) that’s what makes it funny.

Honestly, I don't really see how that's ridiculous or goofy, doesn't seem any different than C&Ding videos, games, fanfics and the like.

Anyway, with that out of the way I was on the train today so I downloaded and watched some episodes! I think this might be my biggest report yet, would've done more but some of the files were mysteriously not working…

Okay, first things first, the Rarity and Sweetie Belle argument at the start. Gotta say it hit pretty close to home since I've been on both sides of this conflict (not with siblings since I'm an only child, but with parents and friends) so I know exactly how it feels… I do wonder something though: Why didn't Rarity just send Sweetie to another room? That's what I would've done.
Next, I'm actually kinda bothered by how they just mention the stare and don't explain it. I initially thought they were gonna do it later on, but the explanation never came… Not too big a deal for me since I already knew about it before watching and it's not massively hard to figure out anyway but not everyone's coming in with the same scenario. It wouldn't even require "as you know" crap, it would be perfectly reasonable if Sweetie Belle didn't know and asked her.
Also, I'll admit I got quite annoyed by the "Cutie Mark Crusaders X! YAY!" running gag, but the rest of the humor from this point on was pretty good.
As for Fluttershy, for the most part I actually sympathized with her, I've had to take care of kids and really struggled with it too, and her takedown versus the Cockatrice (sp?) was pretty cool. Though I was irritated by her not properly explaining the threats to the CMCs, particularly with the Cockatrice, making it sound silly and then waiting to explain what it actually did until they were running off, rather than spitting it all out at once (didn't even have to change the plot, she could tell them about the stoning and them not believe her or something instead).
Speaking of that, I remember Mr Enter's review had him air his grievances that the turning to stone was trivialized and not as permanent as he felt it should be. I gotta say I don't really see a problem here.
Overall, this is another one whose raw ingredients didn't seem that interesting but it held me pretty well nonetheless. It felt very smooth and fast-paced, and was quite a good watch.
On a sidenote, I'm guessing this is where the "Scootaloo is a chicken" joke came from? I find it amusing that her reaction to it here is the one that the fandom in general seems to have nowadays.

Gotta say, coming in I wasn't expecting much since I don't tend to like kidnapping stories and similar.
Now, I'll admit that I tend be one of those with the "Ponies are white/asian people, Zebras are black people" headcanon (though I require horned/winged Zebras, otherwise it's one-sided ability-wise and seems racist because of it) so you might think Sapphire Shores might bother me. Nope, not really. Not particularly bothered either way actually, it'd be a rather silly thing to be upset over. She could just sound different, and even if she didn't line up with this idea, it'd be nothing to rage over.
Onto the actual episode, hard to go point-by-point so I'll just boil it down. Most of what I have to say regards the Diamond Dogs, not terribly good antagonists. First off they metaphorically kick everyone's ass, fighting off the non-Rarity "Mane Six" kinda unbelievably well and then suddenly they fall to Rarity whingeing?

It's like they weren't even the same characters. I mean, I wasn't hoping they were going to respond to her whining by gagging her or slicing out her tongue or something (the main reason I'm bringing this up is because I had this thoughts of how this episode would go if it were realistic, which kinda disturbed me) but surely they could've made it less contrived? Though on a more neutral note about them, were their voices inspired by Gollum? Kinda sounds like a reference to that.
Also, Twilight can replicate Rarity's spell?! She can duplicate her entire talent in addition to everything else? Sounds like a bit of a raw deal for Rarity… I suppose it balances out if Rarity does it a lot easier and/or better than Twi, but still…
All in all, kind of an "eh" episode for me. Not horrible, but didn't really grab me either and seemed like a bit of an iffy story to be honest.

For the most part, a weird but pretty fun episode. The Wild West setting was pretty neat too. Only got a few things to comment on:
1) Horse-drawn carriages and trains just seem weird, daft and unfitting in MLP. Steam engines wouldn't be horribly out of place for the trains, and carriages could probably be sorted too.
2) Pinkie was a bit of a dippy, useless numbskull, per usual. Seriously, getting Dash spotted? STARTING A WAR?! This sort of thing is part of why I don't like her honestly.
3) The conflict seemed rather forced at times, not too far off from getting it right, but polishing this a little would've helped.
Also, might as well mention it here, I quite like envisioning Braeburn as straight, pretty much mostly to give the middle finger to stereotypes.

Not too much to say here, as not too much actually happened.
First off, I actually think Angel was fine here, locking Fluttershy out was somewhat questionable, but it seemed like a tough-love "getting her to do something she wants/needs to do but is kind of unwilling to" thing, rather than the domestic abuse he's become hated for. I'm still bothered that he's a sapient like the Ponies are but doesn't speak. Doesn't really add up with the setting, to be honest…
Next, I'll admit that I'm slightly bothered by the "not mentioning it's a Phoenix" issue like most are, but at least they explained it at the end. I will say I find it odd that Twilight and Fluttershy didn't know about such a major mythological creature, since they're a scholar and an animal-lover respectively… But that's probably a nitpick.
The chase scene worked better than the one in The Ticket Master, but it still seems a tad odd to play Yakety Sax without undercranking the scene, which made it feel a little "off" for me. Though that's only a minor thing, honestly.
Overall, I suppose it was okay but didn't really make an impact on me.

There we go! I'll "fill in the gaps" tomorrow and maybe get some others too since I've got the same train ride in the other direction after my exam.

I fail to see where all this drama is.

Now hold on now, lady. Don't put words in my mo'. I have rights.

  • First, "all of this drama" has implications of something I never said nor implied. Any sizeable complaint beyond "Aww, shucks," for a thread title is probably unreasonable. The fact that more than 2 people have made moderately sized posts calling for a different thread title after the vote is done is something. Not a shitstorm, but there are people being dramatic considering it's a thread title that isn't controversial.
  • Second, as noted in my reaction image, this is basically just annoying. If there were serious drama, it would be stopped immediately.

You can't play a player. Don't even play.

Been a while since I've actually contributed to the actual conversation hasn't it?

@Origin
I WAS BOOOOORN ON A TUESDAY…

But really, my origin is just that I noticed that "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" had been hanging out on the top bar for a long-ass time, so I clicked it. Eventually I learned about Derpy, and I just thought it was cool that a fan character could just be created and accepted like that.

Say what you will about pandering, but I've always found fan nods in shows to be really awesome, so long as they don't distract too much from the story. Adding things like popular background characters has always been a big draw for me… and developing them into fully fledged characters has always been fine with me too. Because why not? They're already in the show, people like them, might as well just make them a character rather than just making a new one for one episode and ditching them.

Butt break, because the butt fairy tells me to

@Title
I voted for the winning title from start to end. One reason was because it was a relevant but subtle criticism of Hasbro's habit of C&Ding things (and no, I don't think Jan's takedown was such a major traumatizing event that it would prompt this title to be "Too soon"). The other reason is that it is sorta funny to me… the idea that the thread will be blasted with C&Ds after one single pony is posted is just a funny idea. Plus the fact that we would declare something like that in the thread title is also just a funny concept (I vote we add a "!" to the end of the title to hammer that idea home). Sure it would get old quick, but they all do, don't they? I think Electric Scootaloo is the only one that I still find funny, and that's just because Scootaloo is a funny word.

By the way, Fifths, this is the 8th thread's title we're talking about, not the 9th thread's title. So because you made a mistake, that proves that you don't know what you're talking about and that your argument is made completely invalid. That's how debating works, right?

@Crash on pony race

I'm sure this is a topic we must have covered before, but here's my take on it… ponies don't really come under any races like white or black. Sort of a pathetic answer, but they already have Earth ponies, Unicorns and Pegasusususes, plus all the other sentient hooved creatures, so trying to add another "race" has always felt redundant to me. The only in-universe purpose it would show is an episode on racism, but Zecora has got that front covered. So I suppose it makes sense in that logic that zebras would be the black people of Equestria, but if I really had to make the distinction, I would just say that the characters are just whatever their voice actor is.

Tune in next time for another episode of "Stunthead tries to ruin the fun of head-canon."

I think it's "text field," meaning you type in the character you want (Twilight, Lyra, etc). I say we pick a totally random background pony that has no fanon and only appeared for a few seconds so we can mold the pony into a horrifying creature of our own fanon. I nominate Blue Belle.

She appeared for several seconds during the Grand Galloping Gala. She has a similar color palette to KYM's (dark blue). She has no fanon. Her cutie mark's obscured, so we can craft our own. She's perfect mascot material.

It's time for Blue Screen to be slowly driven insane!

Fifths said:

The humor lies in a combination of biting the hand (making fun of Hasbro's trigger happy behavior), and a little black comedy/defeatism (we're powerless to stop Hasbro from doing what it wants). It's sort of like Russian humor except instead of making fun of the dreary conditions of communism, we're making fun of the dreary conditions of US Copyright law.

If we're criticizing humor, I think the Lyra one was terrible. It made an obscure reference only Beatles fans will get, used a cliche background pony that fanon's rammed into the ground, and wasn't even really a joke anyway.

What was he expecting? Twilight to be trapped screaming silently for help for the rest of the series?

You would be correct that that's where the "Scootachicken" joke originated from.

Also, Twilight can replicate Rarity’s spell?! She can duplicate her entire talent in addition to everything else?

When the 1000+ year old alicorn who's seen Star Swirl, Sombra, and countless others says she's never seen someone with Twilight's raw abilities before, she means it.

1) That was Faust's attempt to subvert Hasbro (Friendship Express Train Playset!). It didn't make any sense whatsoever and was probably one of her weaker moments. "Let's build an incredibly heavy train and then pull it manually." Fanon dictates that the train was broke and a "manual backup" is employed by the railroad in case the steam engine malfunctions. Later uses of the train drop the stallions, which helps to reinforce this fanon.

2) And /mlp/ says Pinkie only got ruined in S3. The nostalgia glasses are strong there.

3) Can't have it too realistic. It's a shame "pony expansion causes severe friction/Andrew Jackson shit" isn't addressed more often in fanfics, since the show's hamstring by its target audience.

I’ll admit that I’m slightly bothered by the “not mentioning it’s a Phoenix” issue like most are

Why do you think this episode was the trigger for Trollestia? Coincidentally, it also bolstered Tyrantlestia. After all, why would everyone--including her personal student--be so scared about banishment/imprisonment if there wasn't some semblance of credibility to their claims? That's the logic, anyway.

I don’t get it, is the thread mascot supposed to be a number? If that’s the case, I fully support the number 1. In other words, you should change the numeric field to a text one.

Is the joke just in the fact that we’re making a reference to C&Ds?

The humor lies in a combination of biting the hand (making fun of Hasbro's trigger happy behavior), and a little black comedy/defeatism (we're powerless to stop Hasbro from doing what it wants). It's sort of like Russian humor except instead of making fun of the dreary conditions of communism, we're making fun of the dreary conditions of US Copyright law.

If we're criticizing humor, I think the Lyra one was terrible. It made an obscure reference only Beatles fans will get, used a cliche background pony that fanon's rammed into the ground, and wasn't even really a joke anyway.

Speaking of that, I remember Mr Enter’s review had him air his grievances that the turning to stone was trivialized and not as permanent as he felt it should be.

You want to hear my favorite Russian joke? Here goes

Two skeletons of men who had died in the famine last winter run into each other on the street. The first one walks up and says "Dmitri, what happened?!"

Dmitri says "Oh Alexey, somebody stole my good cloak, and now I have to walk naked down the street."

Alexey's ribs clack together as he chuckles a rickity chuckle. "I meant your skin, Dmitri! What happened to your skin?!"

Dmitri looks down at himself. "Oh that. That seems to be happening to everyone lately. At least there's not so many people around anymore to see me without my cloak, thank God."

Suddenly comrade Alexey gets very serious. "You should not say 'thank God,' comrade. State doctrine tells us that there is no God. If anyone, you should be thanking comrade Stalin that no one can see you without your cloak."

Dmitri thinks about this. "But Alexey, what happens if comrade Stalin should die?"

"Then you can thank God!"

That joke was actually found in one of the letters confiscated and held on file in the NKVD, so we can pretty safely assume that the people involved in the correspondence where detained, tortured, and likely killed. Seeing as the person who wrote this letter was quite a very witty man, it seems likely he knew the risk he was taking including that joke in his letter. He took that risk because there was something of value in this humor to the soviet citizen in the 1930s which justified the risk of torture and death.

That is the Russian sense of humor, a sense of humor that comes out of a world where a joke might be worth dying terribly for. I have to be honest, I find it hard to even comprehend the kind of horrors a person has to live through to think like that. I also find it hard to understand the gestalt behind the humor in our impending tread title, but I don't think it's for the same reason. No these two kinds of humor are quite different things and escape my appreciation for very different reasons.

The point I'm trying to make, TSG, is that your analogy is terrible. In fact, it is quite possibly the worst analogy I have ever heard. It's like when a child complains that their chores are a kind of slave labor, except I don't think there's even so wide a gap between chores and slave labor as there is between the Russian situation and ours.

Please don't misunderstand me and think I'm calling you stupid, because I don't think you're stupid. A stupid person could not even begin to look at the problems and resulting humor of communist Russia and the problems and resulting humor of the pony fandom and see them in any way commensurable. No, I think it takes a special kind of intelligence to make that comparison, but it's not a good thing. In any case, please don't compare our jeers against Hasbro for keeping some of our toys away from us with the 'This and vodka are the only thing keeping me from killing myself' jokes of the soviet-era Russians.

If we’re criticizing humor, I think the Lyra one was terrible. It made an obscure reference only Beatles fans will get, used a cliche background pony that fanon’s rammed into the ground, and wasn’t even really a joke anyway.

Eh, it was wordplay. I liked that it was able to work in an astronomy nod as well.

But seeing as Dr. Harshwhinny didn't approve, I guess that doesn't mean much.

Don't call other users pretentious cunts, Caramel

Besides, xTSGx was being pretty pretentious too. It's kinda their shtick, they just post massive walls of text about asinine shit nobody actually cares about in efforts to out-pretentious each other.

Stop being a pretentious cunt, Fifths.

This makes me angry and want to post a wall of pretentious shit in response.

This makes me turn red in the face.

@xtro below

How the fuck did you do that? Hell, I wasn't planning to vote in this thing, but seeing as you've hacked the thread to include a poll…I vote Tom.

Nope.

It’s for 30 pages a thread, once a page at most, at the very end of a normal post. Don’t like it, skip over it.

30 pages is 15% of the thread. The joke got old last time there was a thread election. As for the "skip over it", we could say the same thing about every single controversial post on the forum. I put forward my opinion that the "joke" was getting old, that's all. If we look at everything through rose-colored glasses and ignore any sort of dissent, the threads would be really boring.

As for the title itself, it really doesn't fit all that well. The Hasbro Studios we think of and Hasbro Legal are two entirely different entities. From what we've seen from MKToon (VP of development and scripted entertainment for Hasbro Studios), they barely ever even communicate with each other. It was actually the Studios section that helped get Jan's stuff back on YouTube after Legal took it down.

Do I think it's a crappy title? Yeah, I really do. Do I think any of this bitching was warranted? Not particularly. It really shouldn't have gone beyond my initial post, if even that.

I've done so much stuff in the past few months that a lot of really obvious things have gone way over my head for no reason at all. Sorry. I do like the idea, but I couldn't think of it as anything other than Beatles music until you pointed it out.

Know what we need!? A new topic!

We've seen a lot of mythology based things in the past few seasons – Tartarus/Cerberus, hydras, dragons, and most recently "centaurs".

Are there any mythological places and/or creatures that you'd like to see show up in the show over the next couple of seasons? Any mythos or pantheon will work. Detailed explanations of what you'd like to see earns brownie points (in the form of karma).

@Fifths
I disagree. While the thread title may not be anywhere near as dark as the situations which befell Russia, that doesn't mean that black comedy isn't employed. Black comedy is, at its root, "humor that makes light of otherwise serious subject matter." In the context of the fandom, Hasbro restricting fan works is incredibly serious--probably the most serious concern. People have been worrying about Hasbro's lawyers since the first fanmade merch.

Alrighty then, I guess I'll stop answering questions.

they just post massive walls of text

Total word count for the section relating to Fifths: 99. I didn't realize that was considered a wall of text now.

The rest of the post was in relation to other posts, primarily about Crash's experience with several episodes. If you want, I could dig around for the sauce on all of the trivia in those points. Unless that'll make me even more pretentious.

@Mythological creatures
I've always hoped that if they ever get around to world building the Griffon Empire/Kingdom/Duchy/Democratic Republic, they'll throw in some hippogriffs.

@Mythology

You know what I'd like to see but probably won't? A character based off Sweeney the Mad – a character from a medieval Irish epic poem. Check out the Wikipedia description:

After being cursed, Suibhne is terrified by the battle and he drops his weapons with much fear inside. He flees in the way that a bird would, with his feet rarely touching the ground. He settles on a spot in a yew tree that is far from the battlefield. There he was discovered by his kinsman Aongus the Fat, who was fleeing from the battle. Then Suibhne fled to Tir Canaill where he was perched on a tree near a church. Then he fled through Ireland to Glenn Bolcain, wandered seven years, and then returned to Glenn Bolcain. There Suibhne saw his kinsman, Loingsechan, who fell asleep while searching for Suibhne. Suibhne then returned to his wife who was living with another man. Eorann said she would rather be with Suibhne, but he tells her to stay with the man. Suibhne then settles in a yew tree at Ros Ercain. Loingsechan eventually finds Suibhne here and coaxes him out of the tree only after lying to him and saying that his entire family had died. Loingsechan tries to recuperate Suibhne but, while recuperating, a mill hag taunted him into a contest of leaping. As Suibhne leapt along after the hag, he again took flight and returned to madness. Suibhne visits Eorann again but refuses to go in the house for fear of confinement. Eorann then tells him to leave and never return. Eventually, after travels throughout Ireland and Western England, Suibhne was harboured by Bishop Moling. He lived, broken and old, with the bishop, and the bishop entrusted his care to a parish woman. Unfortunately, that woman's husband, a herder, grew jealous and killed Suibhne with a spear. On his death, Suibhne received the sacrament and died in reconciliation.

The story would need a few changes, but think about it: an insane bird creature and former royal suffering under a curse that forces him to jump from tree to tree reciting endless poetry. That's basically a Twilight episode.

Can't, I couldn't find any art on Derpibooru of them being hurt or abused… :(

Will respond to everything else later today, don't have the time now.

@Dr. Whooves

@Harshwinny

I imagine a fim-style behemoth would be pretty cool.

I've always enjoyed Final Fantasy's numerous renditions of it.

I'd like to see more creatures from the sea. Regardless of the kind of creatures that showed up here and here, the Leviathan is my main choice.

It is often depicted as a whale or a snake, but, why not use both? Considering its overwhelming appearance, this colossus could be pretty amusing.

Use Google Drive, then create and embed a poll to post it here. One of the best reasons to create a Google+ account next to spam "Bob's Revolution" on YouTube.

@CrashGordon
Deal with it. No one's soulless enough to draw Echo being raped, mangled or chopped into pieces and used for lawn mulch.

Not even 4chan.

You hate bat ponies, but I ain't mad at all: everyone has their different tastes and styles and must've hate mine. So no downvotes for you. Yet.

@Ze Poll
Apple Strudel?! Man, you guys really can reflect your sense of humor well, but there's a problem: I will have trouble making poses for good ol' gramps for the logo. So you guys actually okay with creating a OC? There's a reason why I wanted a conon character. Just ask Button Mash.

@thread title

Allllrightely dightely, people.

Now that we have a winner…and to the surprise of absolutely nobody whatsoever; this is where we decide that this is the perfect time to create drama and protest over a forum thread being titled in a certain way…or at least one person here decided that, anyway.

Major concerns being "But mine was so much better" and "I don't get it". It could be agreed that we democratically elected a winner fairly and objections could probably have been voiced a bit sooner …and it's just a name …but that's for people with dignity

So I'll take a moment to recap on what our plans were. Here's the discussion for reference

If it seems that by page 195, we can't all agree on a thread title peacefully, even after we already picked a winner now, then I'll take the liberty of choosing for you. And I've already decided on what to pick.

KYM Pony General 8: [RANDOM TITLE]

Yup. We'll be defaulting to this unless we all decide we're gonna deal with just one. But I'm not counting on that too much

If you recall the discussion on this particular title…which, judging from the rather positive responses it got; I don't think too many of you were offended by… this is how it's going to work:

Pages      Title
1-19 One Pony Away From a Cease and Desist
20-39 Lyra in the Sky with Diamonds
40-59 The Ride Never Ends
60-79 Beating a Dead Pony
80-99 I Accidentally the Whole Thread
100-119 Don’t Worry, We’ll Be Here Another Five Years
120-139 Pony General V + Pony General III
140-159 Weird Magic
160-179 What ISN’T Our Fetish?
180-200 Upgrade From the Comment Section

This queue is based upon your votes from highest to lower. But during the next thread we can change it later if we really want to. Either way, everyone wins, all choices you liked get a chance and we don't get stuck with anything we don't like for 200 pages. have your cake and eat it

Now I can't guarantee that everyone will still be happy from this decision either. but you know what? If you can't be happy about this, there's really nothing that can help you.

@Titles

I like this idea. I like that it includes the title I suggested. I like that it has spared us further bloodshed. +1 Pragmatism.

@DeadParrot

This comic makes me wonder why we don't see more Twilight/Luna shipping. I mean, they're both huge misfits, they're both impossibly adorable, and they've even got the whole mentor/student love-fest thing from the TwiLestia ship without the discomforting fact that Celestia is basically Twilight's mom for all intents and purposes.

Also, it's freaking adorable. At the very least, they should be fuck-buddies.

Do note that it took 398 days to get through this point in the thread, and were not done. And this was during a full season with very few breaks. At this rate, that's about a page every 2 days. With 10 pages left, this'll finish at about 420 days.

If we pass through the next thread at that rate somehow, and there are 10 thread titles to consider, you'd still have to look at each title for 42 days (and probably more with the break).

But at the core? This title process is a joke. This makes it a parody of itself. Might as well make fun of ourselves. However, you'll still have the same concern with the "What ISN'T Our Fetish?" title that supersedes "like" or "dislike" that we discussed.

You should just go with what was chosen and save yourself some trouble.

I think we should just go with what was chosen. I'm not just saying that because I like the title voted on, but discussion about titles basically ended yesterday and we've moved on to other topics, so in bringing this suggestion up we're just dragging the topic back and making it go on longer, which I don't think anyone wants. None of us were unhappy enough to demand another title or another vote, so I don't see the point in changing the plan. Not to mention changing the title every 20 pages seems a little tedious and unnecessary.

@Thread Title:
Yeah, I'm fine with the current choice. It's not a plurality like the last one. In fact, it took 2/3 of the votes. I voiced my disappointment, and that was that.

And this is coming from someone who put forward the idea of a shuffling thread subtext. If you just have it in a certain order, it kind of removes the fun of having different people do different fun titles. Leave it as is and let it go.

@DeadParrot
I love Heavenly Nostrils. Even more with my two favorite ponies crossed into it.
