I know you, you know admins can't be messed with. They can ban you and not even bat an eyelash while doing it. They are tough cookies.

But mods, they are a different story to you. You know these guys well enough that there is no way they could mess with you. You know their strengths and their weaknesses. After all, they were users just like you once.

Well, I'm here to show you that you don't know shit.

Over the coming days, months, whatever I will be interviewing the (still relatively new) mod recruits with 10 brilliant questions.

The first interviewee is everyone's favourite creepy, perverted, angry, all-around disgusting Frenchman, Tomberry

Note: these interviews are only for fun. Take everything said with a grain of salt

So without any further ado…

Captain Blubber : Question number 1: Why did you join Know Your Meme?

Tomberry : Answer number 1:

I can’t remember exactly when I first saw the Know Your Meme web-series but I remember immediately loving it because it was one of the first “videos” to be made about memes, something that I was enjoying for a very long time.

I then wanted to get closer to Molly when she first came up as the next lovely RocketBoom host because, like a lot of people, I think she’s unbelievably cute and I wanted to pick her up.
After the disappointment of the huge freaking distance saparating the two of us, I then realized my fateful mistake when I found out she’s more affiliated to Rocketboom than KnowYourMeme itself, depstire her “mememolly” username.
But it was too late, I already signed up on the website.

Resigning myself, I thought that, actually, you were pretty serious on your job in analyzing Internet memes, from a sociological standpoint without being too dull and letting the fun go away.
So I decided to add my experience of a lonesome basement dweller addicted to the Internet and its beautiful (ahem) world. It was also the occasion, for me, to discover new memes I wasn’t even aware of.

CB : Question 2: Upon receiving entry moderator status, what was your immediate reaction?

T : Answer 2: I had not “unusual” reaction. I didn’t really cheer up. I’ve just smiled a little maybe. It didn’t change greatly my way of coming to this site and participating.

The only difference is that I can deadpool entries now.
Even if it can be perceived as an achievement (and it IS an achievement in a way), I’ve never truely expected to be rewarded for my contributions.

In the end, that’s cool.

CB : Question 3: What was your favourite experience you’ve had relating to Know Your Meme?

T : Answer 3: My favorite experience ?
I would say that from the beginning to now is a favorite experience. It’s the first time that I keep getting interest in something close to “working” for 9 month without fading a little.

If I had to chose on peculiar moment…
I’d say since the birth of the IRC, because we then could have fun in real time together.

CB : Question 4: You’ve done research for a lot of memes.

Were you ever surprised about what you found? Did anything ever arise that made you rethink memes, how memes spread or even the internet in general?

T : Answer 4: “You’ve done research for a lot of memes.” And I’m not done yet !

I’m always suprised by what Internet can give birth to. Well, not THAT suprised since I’ve travelled through many “underground” and “dark” places but it’s what I like about Internet: Its capacity of creation.

Actually, to be fair, I’ve more learnt about memes with my “failed” entries, entries that I wrote but that eventually turn out not to be Internet memes.

It’s because of them that I can tell the difference between different kind of memes and it has improved the way I’m researching them.

But one of the greatest “turning points” in my views about memes come from the “Crank That” article and video that ensued, so not from one of my entries.
It’s one of the first instance that really changed the way I could perceive memes, even if many people still refuse to see it as an Internet meme.

CB : Question 5: What would you consider as your most important contribution to the site?

T : Answer 5:

Tough question…
Hmmm, what is the criterion of a “most important contribution” ?

If it’s about the fun I got in researching it, I’d say I have 3 answers:
- The invisible Pink Unicorn
- Carol’s Safety Goggles
- Zombie Tools/Zombie Survival Sheet

If it’s about the most important in picture uploads, then it would be Polandball

But, in the end, I think that, above all, the one I liked the most was my Slender Man entry. Because it’s my first entry to be featured as well, it’s the most important contribution I made to this website.

CB : Don’t worry, your answer is fine.

Now for some silly questions.

Question 6: If you ran Know Your Meme for one day, what would you do?

T : Answer 6:

Because I’m an old dirty perv Frenchman, I would ban/fire everyone one except the ladies. They, then, will be my personal slaves, Molly above all !

Haaa, That would be so great…

CB : Question 7: If you were a superhero, what would your powers be and what would be your superhero name?

T : Answer 7:
That’s a very good question.

Well, to be honest, I’ve never thought about it. Like many other children at that time, I had some dreams of super powers, karate knowledge and things like that but never to the extend of becoming a superhero. I stil have no idea, even if I would take some time to think about it.

I think what could be closer to superpowers that I always dreamed to have is those of an heoric-fantasy wizard or something like that, maybe a mix between World of Warcraft and Discworld.

Concerning a name, I will keep mine. Tomberry would be good here, even if it’s already copyrighted.

CB : Question 8: What is the biggest animal you think you could beat in a fight?

T : Answer 8:

Captain Blubber.
It’s easy to beat you with a peculiar video involving steamrollers, men with wigs and wrestlers. (the video in question)

CB : Do you really have to bring that up every time?

Question 9: If you had a religion that idolized you, what would it be called?

T :Answer 9:

The cult of Tomberry, of course.
Everyone here would play Final fantasy with their foot will giving hugs to Tonberry Teddy bears.

Also, everyone would paint their face in green and bring lanterns and knifes to pray for me.

CB : Wonderful.

Final question: Is there any words of wisdom you would like to share with the users and really the KYM community in general?

T : Last answer:

Despite the fact I hate them all ?

Hmmm. Well, for those who really want to participate to the website, feel free to ask anything.

For those who are already greatly participating, keep up the good work !

And, for those who hésitate in joining this giant memeship, come in, we don’t bite that much and it’s a wonderful journey to experiment.

CB : Thank you for your time.

Excellent Idea to give an interview to the new moderation of KYM.

It's fun to get to know more information about the Moderators.

Hmm, this kind of gives an idea of adding a more promoted News Feature instead of the blog.

Hmm, answer number six.. would it be better to be banned or a slave .. ?
I guess I'm stuck with being a slave if all our base belonged to Tomberry.

Hahaha! Clever ruse, Blubber. Your Tomberry impersonation is quite excellent, top-notch, almost as if it was really him that answered those questions even though we all know that it is never likely for a pervy Frenchman to answer any questions that don't involve France and being pervy.

Also, nice follow-up, Tomberry, for going along with the Captain's joke.

Haha! I kid. I can't wait to see the other mods' questions/answers. (That is, of course, if the questions differ between mods)
