Hey, member that old thread post I made talking shut about know your meme? That was my mistake. I didn't know anybody and I didn't have enough internet premise to write that down. I just wanted to say sorry for the dumb shit I did and promise never to do it again.

But first, I have several questions to ask you.

there are photoshop contests every once in a while where you’re encouraged to contribute your own memes, as well as an official discord where many users go to hang out in real time, because truth be told these forums are somewhat empty compared to everything else on KYM.

you can avoid being downvoted by just being amicable, though you should note that someone is almost always going to disagree with you so some downvotes are inevitable. But then again, upvotes/downvotes barely mean anything around here other than how hard people agree with you, so it’s not worth caring about all that much to be honest.

You can up your rep by just being involved, get out there are start contributing images, writing articles, commenting on images and arguing on the forums, possibly not in that order. The only important tip I can give while doing it is to have a sense of humor about it all

All I do is post stuff about monster girls and boys (and I just use gimp and clip paint studio)

I've used GIMP for all of my images i've made, it's a perfectly fine program to use provided you don't mind learning it.
posting about monster boys and girls is fine, hell there's an entire audience for it on this site, but it isn't very hard to pick up other posting habits. Just finding something that made you laugh and bringing it here to share with others is already a meaningful contribution.

How can I get more involved in the community?

You can shitpost in the forums and comments like everyone else. If you want to do something productive, you can upload media to the various galleries under the guise of "research" (when it's really just posting funny or interesting pictures to the appropriate gallery) or you can help create or edit article entries--although make sure you know what you're doing first). Generally, people upload stuff to galleries that interest them.

And if you really, really want to get involved, you can scour the site for duplicate images or images which violate site rules and report them. Or help find spambots. And if you upload 100 images, you gain the ability to edit all images on the site, allowing you to add image sources and tags to older images that may not have any.

How can I avoid not getting my self downvoted?

Generally, by not being an asshole. But in truth, the sooner you ignore karma, the better. It's completely meaningless and users award it based on their own arbitrary reasons, meaning it's impossible to accurately determine why the content of your post was downvoted.

Again, generally by not being an asshole and not breaking or bending site rules, for instance by uploading useless images or entries or spamming the forums with meaningless posts.

1. Identify entry about controversy

2. Determine which side the comments section has decided is wrong

3. Begin your comment with a reaction image or short reaction video

4. First paragraph would be a single sentence and needs to sum up your feelings on the matter. Rhetorical questions are highly encouraged; "seriously?", "what the fuck?", and "how low can X sink?" are all viable options depending on the severity of the wrongness.

5. Second paragraph should go into more detail and be 2-4 sentences long. Feel free to continue to make use of flamboyant rhetorical questions: "how on earth did X think this would be a good idea?", for example. If you don't have anything original to add, it is considered good form and highly encouraged to lift your opinions wholesale from earlier comments made by other users.

6. Closing paragraph should also be one sentence long and must convey a feeling of jadedness, weariness, or exasperation. Consider "just when I thought 2018 couldn't get any worse" or "but sadly this will be forgotten by next week", or if you're feeling particularly edgy, "I hate this world" or a negative remark about your faith in humanity.

1: Post more in photoshop contests, the forums and site wide challenges/events.
2: Just don’t be an asshole and don’t try to push site wide jihad against something you don’t like. .
3: Best way to restore/get good reputation is to just be active and just be good to people.
