So, games going to Cale now? Sending my turn in now. Hope I'm not too late. I only just stopped at a location with internet access.

Might pay to send a message to other players to notify them of the change

@Serious

How do you ā€œwinā€ a RP?

If any of the last NatRP's are anything to go by; you just convert your nation into a rampaging sentient hive-minded fungal disease that destroys all life on the planet and forces all the other nations to flee to Space Australia

Or, failing that, you end the world in a nuclear apocalypse

Send in your turns or I'll cut you.

Turn 12
Spring 2154

Map
-
Global News:

-The kind and good President of Angmar dies and is replaced by a grumpy older man. This is obviously important.
-The Infinitus state collapses and merges with other the Indian Coalition to form one big Indian state. Overseas holdings collapse.
-The Suez Canal reaches completion. Yay.

The Wastelands
The Plague Doctor
Government: Republic
Military: Average
Economy: Good
Tech: Imperial Age ==> Industrial Age

-Experiments delve into sticking guns and bombs on Aircraft and studies are made into bombing. In principal, this means that a reasonable asset of biplane bombers enter the Wasteland's Force.
-The Wastelands grow and continue to rank as the biggest Wasteland in history.
-Construction of prototype ships to ferry planes across the seas are made. They fall short, due in part to the lack of sufficient Boating technology.

Eggman Empire
Dr. Ivo Robotnik
Government: Monarchy
Military: Great
Economy: Good
Tech: Industrial Age

-Morussania refuses annexation and feels slightly insulted at this, being large and doing well for itself.
-The Empire invests in constructing it's own Airforce, and soon biplanes and air bases are cropping up in every military installation.
-Electricity becomes more and more the norm as electric grids innovating Alternating Current are set up, and the electric business booms, promoting powered industry.

Leninland
Crouching Sloth
Government: Socialist Democratic Republic
Military: Good
Economy: Good
Tech: Industrial Age

-A program to update the Leninland Military goes underway, including a series of fortifications on Leninland holdings, a more strict training regime, the introduction of the Rifle, and prototypes of Armored Vehicles.
-Leninland grows an electric grid across its holdings. The result is powered industry, and that results in an industrial boom.
-Off shore Fishing is subsidized. It has no outstanding result, but serves to reduce food-related imports.

Kƶnigsberg
Vlad
Government: Representative Republic
Military: Great, "Sky Navy"
Economy: Good
Tech: Industrial Age ==> Diesel Punk Age?

-New devices are experimented with in Kƶnigsberg. They're large and confusing, and are referred to as "Mechanical Computers"
-Developments occur in the realm of Zepplins. Exotic new designs result in sturdy "Air Ships" fit for war and trans-continental trade.
-Military Industries continue to grow, and metal Monoplanes and Armored Tanks begin to form the Back-Bone of the Kƶnigsberg Military. It should be noted that the economy is beginning to grow dependent on Military Industry.

NERV
Fridge Logic
Government: ā€œDemocraticā€ Military Oligarchy
Military: Good, Once-Glorious Navy
Economy: Basic
Tech: Imperial Age ==> Industrial Age

-An invasion of the Otak Empire occurs. The NERV of these guys.
-A series of bombing runs are made against Otak cities. While they have no major effects, it proves the use of bombers in war.
-Flyers are dropped over Otak prisons. They say a lot of words that are probably inspirational, save for the fact that a significant number of prisoners and citizens can't read.
-The actual invasion is made entirely by Infantry. They have good success in the East, but are hung up by terrain in the West. Moderate Casualties
-A blockade is attempted, but the end result is a series of skirmishes between the Otak and NERV navies, in NERV's favor. Significant Casualties
-A war-time economy is set in place. Until the war is over at least, the NERV economy drops dramatically.

Cattonia
madcat
Government: Socialist Democratic Republic
Military: Good
Economy: Good
Tech: Imperial Age ==> Industrial Age

-A state to the south-east is taken. Forcefully.
-Bombers begin to enter the Cattonian Force, followed shortly by experimental Submersibles.
-Subsidiaries to specific business result in a growth of electric appliances available. This slightly promoted independent Electric Business, but mostly ends up sold to foreigners with larger Electric Industries.
-The rifle becomes standard Cattonia Equipment. Also cool ones with scopes that shoot really far.
-Rudimentary Tanks are put into regular production. Which is slow with the state of the age.

Sagarmatha
Brucker
Government: Anarcho-communist Peopleā€™s Republic
Military: Average
Economy: Good
Tech: Imperial Age ==> Industrial Age

-Border security is increased as a result of enclosing nations. This helps to reduce the influence of outsiders, and reduces the tensions in Bangladesh.
-A breakthrough in greenhouse and hydroponics allows Sagarmatha Farmers to raise large houses of crops even in the deeper parts of the Central Asian Ice-Sheet. The extensive labor and materials required results in large farming communities coming together in vast Farmhouses across the Sheet.
-A "Program" results in the Construction and habitation of New Buddhist Temples along the Sagarmatha borders. It is made public that Sagarmatha wishes to conquer the world. The keyword "Conquer" sets the new Indian state on edge, and now refers to Sagarmatha as a nation of bubble-butts and doodoo-heads.

Vascony
MDFification
Government: Federal Republic
Military: Average
Economy: Good
Tech: Imperial Age ==> Industrial Age

-A contract is made to Colonize Australia. After some expert boating, they land somewhere that is probably Australia.
-A series of advanced ideas are proposed and pondered. While they all prove theoretically feasible, the state of the Age has no room for reasonable advances those areas.
-A policy is made in which Tariffs are removed for non-subsidizing Countries, and are made more expensive for subsidizing ones. The result is a large curbing of imports to Vascony, while mildly promoting exports.
-A propoganda campaing encourages union with Vascony. With no city states to hear the message, and the African Union refusing again, it has next to no effect.

Sastrei
Carnotaur in spaaace
Government: Enlightened Socialist Republic
Military: Average, Battleship Focus
Economy: Good
Tech: Imperial Age ==> Industrial Age

-A pitbull saves two children from drowing while on a family outing to the beach. It makes national news and sparks some controversy over the usual image of pitbulls as aggressive and dangerous.

Not Soviet Russia
404 user not found
Government: Socialist Democratic Republic
Military: Average
Economy: Good
Tech: Imperial Age ==> Industrial Age

-Finland takes back most of its territory. Then decides it doesn't really want to war anymore.

United Pacifica
Serious Business
Government: Elective Chiefdom
Military: Average, Navy Headed
Economy: Good
Tech: Imperial Age ==> Industrial Age

-The free-trade zones are maintained. You may exchange whatever and whenever here, underneath Pacifica's benevolent gaze.
-The power of Steam is utilized in ships. They find their way quickly into the Military and Tourism business.
-Tourism is promoted. Again. About everyone on the planet want to visit a Pacifica island for their vacations.

Otak Economic Union
Sir Crona Orunitia Equire
Government: Corporate Republic
Military: Average, Guerrilla Warfare
Economy: Imploded
Tech: Imperial Age ==> Industrial Age

-Budgets for Prison Camps are curbed in favor of investing into private industry. This is moot as a NERV invasion has curbed trade and taken two major population centers.
-Expansion attempts to the North-east have good and bad news. The good news is it manages to fend off what would otherwise be a fatal NERV attack. The bad news is that everyone involved is dead or captured.
-Invasions in the West are curbed, thanks in part to heavy terrain and the rest in trained Otak Guerrillas, who know the land like the back of their hand.
-New projects in aerodynamics and engines result in planes entering Otak use. They are quickly converted for warfare.
-A new law is put into effect, by which citizens can create a petition which becomes public mandate. The first petitions started include "Fight Back" and "Surrender". Luckily there's a clause for that!

Syserror
Blue Screen (of Death)
Government: Constitutional Democratic Republic
Military: Good
Economy: Good
Tech: Industrial Age

-New Strategies lead Syserror forces to push towards Iberia and CBR to cut off Switzerland. They have reasonable success, save for Iberia preparing to lend a hand, and counterattacks from the Alps hampering Southern efforts.
-Extensive military updates are made, including moving on to Rifles, improving Training Regimes, and the expansion of the fleet. This has a positive effect on the war efforts and the Military's strenght.
-Resource mining is subsidized, particularly in the rich eastern areas, granting a significant resource independence to Syserror.
-Reconstruction efforts begin in Italy. They guess this isn't so bad.

Sure, I can loan you several squadrons for your war as long as I get a chunk of Northern Switzerland so I can expand into Iberia.

@NERV
I can guarantee you that you will lose this war. Here are my demands.
1. I want compensation for damages within five years of a cease fire being designed.
2. I want every piece of land you took from us back.
3. TBD, I'll up the ante the longer you go without a ceasefire since I'm certain you won't surrender yet.
In exchange, I promise this to you:
1. We will help you in the event you go to war with another nation, but ONLY after you meet all of our demands.
2. We will pay for two thirds of the damages that any Otaku offensive brings within five years after official cease fire.
@Wastelands
If you support the OEU in this war, we'll make it worth your while.

There's a war going on? I really should start to read the turn updates more thoroughly.
@Vlad
I would also like to buy some blimps if that's all right with you.

Weird. Nothing much happened for me this turn, so I'm not sure what to send in for a turn this time. Do I just keep doing what I've been doing, or is it a good time to invade Aeriya? As I said several turns back, I'd rather do it in coalition with Syserror and Not Soviet Russia, but they're still the only country Sagarmatha shares a border with that we seriously don't like.

@Brucker

It was Cale who opposed your invasion of Aeriya because we already made a pact that guaranteed that space for Angmar later in the game

But now that Angmar is an NPC, I guess that arrangement has been cancelled and Aeriya is up for grabs.

But I wouldn't be surprised if Cale makes Aeriya a really tough nut to crack

Turn 13
Aeriya, Angmar, Zyergonia, and India super-combine into Mughal-Angmar.
--

To be frank, War as a whole is a lot more difficult now, less "Steam-Rolling" and a bit more foresight involved.

Also a thing might happen. A lot of things actually.

EDIT: Also starting tomorrow, turns are coming in daily. I won't boot players (probably), but if you don't get a turn in that's 2 bad 4 u.

ISHYGDDT.

In my defense, I only made my prisons into labor camps to profit off of Otak's scum, but because I made the dumb idea of introducing democracy, my damn colleagues took it too far.
Since I know know you have a reason for invading, I'll strike down the compensation to 1/2 of damages. Considering I'm paying you 2/3, it's more than fair.

Turn 13
Summer 2154

Map

Global News:

-Vascony contacts Space. See Vascony for Details.
-An International "Commission" forms in Europe, made up of Iberia, Finland, Scandinavian Union, North African Union, and Angmar, in response to growing continental conflict. The Commission has condemned the wars of Kƶnigsberg and Syserror, and though they can do little to stop the war at this point, are looking to expand their will with new members around the globe.

The Wastelands
The Plague Doctor
Government: Republic
Military: Average
Economy: Good
Tech: Imperial Age ==> Industrial Age

- Projects in Aircraft Carriers continue. They still fail.
- Attempts are made at creating "Stealth" Bombers. The end result is bombers painted sky blue.
- Airports are established in the East. Though they lack the power to contribute to trade, they do ferry the well-to-do to and fro.
- Scientists delve into some of the darker arts, as they create a chemical much like Mustard Gas in design and function.

Eggman Empire
Dr. Ivo Robotnik
Government: Monarchy
Military: Great
Economy: Good
Tech: Industrial Age

Leninland
Crouching Sloth
Government: Socialist Democratic Republic
Military: Good
Economy: Good
Tech: Industrial Age

- Additional funding is put into Navy and Airforce, adding flexibility to the Military with more equilateral branches.
- With new research in BOATING, Leninland has designed and fielded prototype Submersibles.
- Universities are created, with a special focus on SCIENCE. Because knowledge is POWER.
- The Glacier Trading Community refuses Annexation.
- Mining is subsidized, and Leninland's independence in Copper and Coal grows.

Kƶnigsberg
Vlad
Government: Representative Republic
Military: Great, "Sky Navy"
Economy: Good
Tech: Industrial Age ==> Diesel Punk Age?

- Computers grow more technical, as vacuum tubes and electricity swell the size and power of the devices.
- The Sky Navy continues to grow. Kƶnigsbergers now look down and laugh at those silly ants with their water-borne born craft.
- An emphasis is placed on trade rather than inside military complex. This is ironic given the demands for a more expansive Sky Navy and:
- Invasion of Switzerland. The Sky Navy proves not only effective but terrifying, as the seizure of the northern Cities results in Swiss troops holing up in the Alps.
- Scouts in the air around Scandinavia are forced down and taken prisoner, then returned after two weeks of questioning.

NERV
Fridge Logic
Government: ā€œDemocraticā€ Military Oligarchy
Military: Average
Economy: Good
Tech: Imperial Age ==> Industrial Age

- Armor and Vehicles begin to supplement the Infantry in Otak. They prove the bane of guerrillas in most skirmishes.
- The invasion funnels itself into a single front in the West, and continues to push into Otak heartlands.
- Eastern invasions fall into confusion as Otak sleeper agents perform a myriad of assassinations, sabotages, and killing sprees.
- Fire-Bombers begin raids on Otak Factories and Supply lines. On the way, they see Otak planes doing the same thing.
- With the Navies of both sides crumped, NERV begins to rebuild their Glorious Navy. This puts a notable strain on the resources of newly acquired Western territories.

Cattonia
madcat
Government: Socialist Democratic Republic
Military: Good
Economy: Good
Tech: Imperial Age ==> Industrial Age

Sagarmatha
Brucker
Government: Anarcho-communist Peopleā€™s Republic
Military: Average
Economy: Good
Tech: Imperial Age ==> Industrial Age

Vascony
MDFification
Government: Federal Republic
Military: Average
Economy: Good
Tech: Industrial Age

- Someone decides to try and radio-contact the moon. After some arguments and a concession on the grounds that "it'll be funny", messages are sent from the tallest Vascony building to the general sky direction one night. Against all odds and radio-science, contact is established with an unknown party. Scientists naturally flip their shit and beg for advanced space technology. The other-side only expresses surprise at the existence of humans on Earth before going silent.
- The last African City-State refuses annexation on the grounds that their application to join the African Union has not been accepted or denied.
- A level up in boating. Diesel and Propellers enter popular (and economical) use, propelling Vascony into an age of Industry. The downside is the need for imports of otherwise uncommon petroleum.

Sastrei

Government: Socialist Democratic Republic

United Pacifica
Serious Business
Government: Elective Chiefdom
Military: Average, Navy Headed
Economy: Good
Tech: Industrial Age

- A federal University is founded, based on theoretical and functional Sciences. Pacifica's widespread territory proves useful in bringing in the sharp minds of those in foreign lands otherwise unable to utilize their talent
- A new program provides temporary subsidiaries to successful investors, promoting a growth in Small business and competition.
- Infrastructure receives a bolstered fund. This proves effective in expanding electric grids and roads in all of the isles

Otak Economic Union
Sir Crona Orunitia Equire
Government: Corporate Republic
Military: Average, Guerrilla Warfare
Economy: Imploded
Tech: Imperial Age ==> Industrial Age

- War is declared on NERV and a recruiting campaign is made, as well as advertising freedom to prisoners who serve. The vast majority refuse.
- Fire-Bombers begin raids on NERV Factories and Cities. On the way, they see NERV planes doing the same thing.
- A counter-invasion falls short as Armor swells the ranks of Invading NERV forces. The mountains remain as a firm defense in the West.
- Sleeper Agents are given secret command codes to start their work. The east explodes into chaos as agents break lines of command and sabotage supply. As their numbers drop rapidly, they resume their sleeper state.

Syserror
Blue Screen (of Death)
Government: Constitutional Democratic Republic
Military: Average
Economy: Good
Tech: Industrial Age

- Angmar and Finland refuse to give aid, now under the affluence of the Commission.
- Battlegroups are brought back to hold and bolster Milan. They encounter only a few light raids, a distraction while Swiss and Iberian forces retake a portion of the south-east.
- Advances in the North are cut off by Kƶnigsberg forces. Syserror troops, not wanting to offend their Ally's claims, resume their front against the Alps.
- Radio networks are established across the nation. They also prove handy in coordinating war efforts.
- Ancient Oil drilling and Uranium mining sites are recovered and reconstructed. Why one would want radioactive material is beyond anyone's understanding.

If this entire invasion is over my prisons, I've freed the majority of prisoners by the next turn. I think it would be beneficial to both states if a ceasefire were to be signed.

Wow, you really don't understand why I'm doing this, do you?

There will be no ceasefire, armistice, or other peace agreement. This war will end in only one way.

@Sloth: You are, and so is Pacifcia and Eggman. I'm not sure why the turn reads differently. If someone wants to edit that in I'd appreciate it.

@Fridge: A "Good" economy, an Electric Grid, a Major Industry to start the change, and a solid trade network. If you have these things and you're still Imperial, you're either at war or Resource deprived. On that note your Economy will never get better than "Good" in the Imperial Age.

Cale wrote:

The invasion funnels itself into a single front in the West, [my emphasis] and continues to push into Otak heartlands.

Pet peeve of mine: When you say "in the West" do you mean Otak's west, NERV's west, or (due to NERV's current shape) both? As I have pointed out to people, Boston is on North America's East Coast, but the western coast of the Atlantic. It's good to be clear on these things.

@thread/game:

Sagarmatha is going to make some sort of move on Aeriya; I'm guessing Syserror is too busy in Switzerland to help and N.S.R. is too far away, but if they feel otherwise, let me know. NOTE TO NEARBY NATIONS: Even though I am only going to actively pursue land in Aeriya, Neo-Buddhist missionaries that are not affiliated with the government will be moving abroad starting this turn. We're conquering the world with love and peace, people.

Cale is setting up a diplomatic challenge for me and Vlad. He wants me to really earn that alpine

So yea, this is probably going to keep me busy for a while. You are on your own with Aeriya

Wait, I'm in a coalition with Kƶnigsberg? I thought the friend of my friend is my enemy; isn't that how it goes? No, waitā€¦

Anyway, so long as I'm posting, I'd just like to point out that some guy with the nick Blue Screen (of Death) posted a link about a week and a half ago pointing out a number of stupid things Hitler had tried to do including invading Switzerland, which is apparently one of a handful of virtually uninvadable countries (another being Thailand), but I guess we all play the game way we think we need to.

Boy I hope I didn't screw this one up.

Turn 14
Autumn 2154

Map

Global News:

-Syserror, Cattonia, India, and the Eggman Empire join the Commission.

Morussania
Syndiquil
Government: Federal Republic
Military: Average
Economy: Good
Tech: Imperial Age ==> Industrial Age

- Taxes are lowered on Industrial Trusts and Corporations. Growth occurs in respective Industrial Sectors.
- A central Bank and Reserve is created, adding substantial stability to the economy.
- Someone finally claims the unclaimed territory. It would be Morussania, by the way.

The Wastelands
The Plague Doctor
Government: Republic
Military: Average, Scary
Economy: Good
Tech: Imperial Age ==> Industrial Age

- Attempts are made to construct larger aircraft. This is difficult given the pre-Industrial nature of the age.
- Gas becomes a major weapon in the Wastelands, as Gasmasks, chemical suits, chemical containers, and chemical bombs enter regular supply.
- Black becomes the predominate color for air-planes. In fact it becomes the most predominate in all branches. The sight of a Regiment of men in black suits obfuscating their faces and spraying gas everywhere proves to be a depressing sight.

Eggman Empire
Dr. Ivo Robotnik
Government: Monarchy
Military: Great
Economy: Good
Tech: Industrial Age

- The rifle becomes the arm of standard for Eggman troops.
- Radio towers spring up, and the radio itself enters official and civilian use.

Leninland
Crouching Sloth
Government: Socialist Democratic Republic
Military: Good
Economy: Good
Tech: Industrial Age

- Boating lessons are given in schools. This is a good thing? Probably.
- Cannons are being replaced by mortars and howitzers. Which are more effective, by the way.
- Sastrei is invaded. There are no spectacular battles yet.

Kƶnigsberg
Vlad
Government: Representative Republic
Military: Great, "Sky Navy"
Economy: Good
Tech: Industrial Diesel Punk Age

- Work continues on the wondrous computer. It's getting there, probably.
- Attacks continue on the Swiss. There is little resistance with most forces on the Syserror front.
- A wing of ARMORED AVIAN BATTLE DREADNOUGHTS are put to the temporary command of Syserror. They're welcome.
- Dedication to the Flying Boat continues, as they Ferry Armor and Infantry about as well.
- An experiment delves into creating floating cities. Though individual buildings are set on air, entire cities prove impossible to raise as of yet, and tend to move around a bit much for comfort.

NERV
Fridge Logic
Government: ā€œDemocraticā€ Military Oligarchy
Military: Average
Economy: Basic
Tech: Imperial Age ==> Industrial Age

- Unknown parties begin to spread hard evidence of a false republic in NERV, ruled by an elite, fixed few. There is widespread doubt until an executive power confirms the information. Results include light rioting, widespread protest, strikes, and Draft Card and Bra burning.
- Moving along the Coast, NERVous forces land-lock Otak, and cripple what little naval remnants were out there.
- The West force moves to the Capital. In fact they're on the doorstep right now. Knock knock motherfuckers.
- NERV Air Forces begin to make their runs against Otak Strips. This saves quite a number of Armored units.
- Experiments with rockets results inā€¦ well rockets. Trucks laden with Rocket tubes enter service.

Cattonia
madcat
Government: Socialist Democratic Republic
Military: Good
Economy: Great
Tech: Imperial Age ==> Industrial Age

- Cattonia now Controls like half of Africa. The Union isn't cool with this.

Sagarmatha
Brucker
Government: Anarcho-communist Peopleā€™s Republic
Military: Average
Economy: Good
Tech: Imperial Age ==> Industrial Age

- An "annexation" is attempted in Aeriya. Which really involved a series of good-wills and establishment of Temples. The large Muslim majority wasn't protesting until the construction of said Temples, and remain loyal to Aeriya. Or as loyal as one can be to a nation formerly bent on genocide.
- Further missions are established in NERV, Not Soviet Russia, and India. The Western NERVs flock, happy for any respite from the war. The Russians also engage in regular practice, far removed from their cultural centers and churches. Indians, however, gather in the greatest numbers. To burn the temples. Indian nationalists are not pleased, and call out for aggression.

- The Pacifican University and National Library have a historical pow-wow, as they bring to light all kinds of neat things, like "Hawaii", and "Pizza", and "Mutually Assured Destruction".
- Diesel is the fuel of choice for Pacifica boats. The downside is the lack of widely available petroleum.

Otak
Sir Crona Orunitia Equire
Government: Warlord Despotism
Military: Average, Guerrilla Warfare
Economy: Imploded
Tech: Imperial Age ==> Industrial Age

- With utter economical collapse, the Corporate Oligarchy has fallen. In their place come Military leaders and War Directors.
- Prisons are freed of those not charged with Felonies. Most of them are handed a gun and a helmet.
- Bombers fitted with anti-armor due a number on the Vehicles of NERV. Before their strips are blown to hell and half the force is gone in a week, that is.
- The remaining sleeper cells, particularly those in positions of power, expose the NERV oligarchy. It's probably ruining life at home there.

Syserror
Blue Screen (of Death)
Government: Constitutional Democratic Republic
Military: Good
Economy: Good
Tech: Industrial Age ==> Atomic Age

- The Commission refuses to recognize Syserror's claim to Swiss lands, but are willing for a Territorial Compromise to preserve the Swiss state.
- Reinforcements move to the Swiss front. Use of Bunkers and Mines create a fairly static front of Trenches and No-Man's Lands, occasionally broken and reshaped by an Armored charge.
- Scientists in Syserror delve into Atomic Physics, striving to figure out how to capture the power between those chaotic nuclear bonds.
- Petroleum enters widespread Industrial use, as plastics and vehicles become prevalent and practical.
- Radio coverages is mandated for the whole nation. But mandates are against the Constitution and nothing happens as a result.
