I admit I got the idea for this thread from somewhere else, though I honestly can't recall where.
Anyway for me it's naps. As a kid I hated the idea of sleeping during the daytime, feeling that sleeping is what you do at the end of a day, not in the middle of it. Plus my bedtime when I was a kid was like 9 PM so I needed all the time I had after getting home from school to do the things I actually wanted to do once homework was done (that is if I didn't finish homework at school, because I hated the idea of "school work at home" so much I tried to always finish it before leaving school). Now I'm an adult who can choose when to go to bed whenever I want, and sometimes it's just nice to get extra sleep in whenever I can. Helps me feel more recharged and eliminate some stress for a time.
Also as a kid I didn't really like turn based RPGs that much outside of Pokemon. though that game likely helped me learn to better appreciate that style of RPG (alongside Paper Mario). I think it's because at the time I was more used to games that didn't feel like they restricted a player's actions in a combat scenario. Like when I played Final Fantasy on my cousin's NES for the first time I thought it'd play like Zelda since it had the same top down view, but monsters being random encounter and you couldn't just walk up to them and hit them on the battle screen irked me, it just made me want to go right back to Zelda. While I admit to still having a bit more of a preference towards action RPGs like Kingdom Hearts or Bloodborne, turned based RPGs like classic Final Fantasy, most Mario RPGs, or ones that are still "turn based" but offer a different take on the genre like Fire Emblem are now some of my favorites thanks to me getting better acquainted with how these sorts of games work.
