There are people on KYM who masturbate to Korra, too. Does that bother you?

A little bit, though there's a huge difference between a human and a horse.

First thing's first: How did Amon get through the fire without injuring himself? It looked a lot like he somehow bended it, which made me doubt Tarrlok's story, a nice double-twist. I also liked how the use of Tarrlok being Yakone's son was, at least for me, thought to be the only relevance of the flashback. Using it twice was tricky and unforseeable. I am not a huge fan of how Korra got her powers back, plus I wish it had looked better for being her first time in the Avatar State. A few flashes of bending just is kinda' lame. Hoping next season will utilize the Avatar State's powers a little more creatively. On to thoughts for the next season:
My guess is the first few episodes (Max of 3.) will be spent on post-Equalist Revolution Republic City. Tying up loose ends while giving some hints and forshadowing to the new threat. Then the enemy will appear. Most likely, they will be fairly opposite to Amon. More rash, brutish, less shadowy. I.E. More Ozai, less Long Feng.

Fire isn't a solid form; you can jump through it without being burned. It's because fire is based on the position of oxygen molecules in the air, and your movement disturbs the oxygen, allowing you to create a space to move through. Besides, fire doesn't automatically jump from one flammable substance to another. It has to have all the right circumstances to do that, and if clothing is cool enough, you can quickly pass without lighting yourself on fire.

Also, his clothing might be fireproof. If a third of all the people you'll be fighting can shoot flames out of their arms, wearing protective gear makes a lot of sense.

Fire isn't anything. It's just a simpler way of saying rapid oxidation.
Speaking of which, if you had to assign benders to periodic elements, I think it'd go something like this:
Water = Hydrogen (BAN DHMO)
Earth = Carbon (They can bend coal, right?)
Fire = Oxygen (While fire has no form, The flame in fire is several gases being exposed to large amounts of heat, the main one being Oxygen.)
Air = Nitrogen (Air is 78% Nitrogen)

Can they bend coal? CAN THEY BEND COAL!? An entire episode was dedicated to Earthbenders bending coal! And it was a great episode! And even if that is right, most people are gonna' say O2 should be Air, since when most people think of air they think of oxygen.

Well, I don't know who this "most people" guy is, but he doesn't sound very bright.

Hwy, you know what I just learned? Tenzin is also the name of the current Dalai Lama. That's actually pretty neat.

So is Gyatso.
EDIT: Just learned that he's a supporter of Marxism

Wow. The finale. Everyone else said it, but it was awesome. I'm glad Nick finally showed some balls for some scenes. And as the AVGN would said: "Now, that's some intense shit right there"

Oh yeah. I think I read on 4chan that they compare the Korra ending to Mass Effect 3, but whatever. O wait. Here it is: linkie

What's wrong with Marxism? Marxism would be the perfect form of economy if it weren't for the fact that humans are selfish and greedy.

GUISE GUISE GUISE

Marxism is one of those things that looks good on paper, but never really goes right. There's one major thing wrong with it: Humans ARE selfish and greedy. It's in our nature. Conflict, Evil, Greed, all that good stuff, it's our nature to be that way.

(Skip to 1:30 to get to the part that concerns the topic)

Humans don't work like ants or bees, we strive to better ourselves and be better than the rest. I see that as ambition, not greed( though it certainly can become greed). I prefer capitalism and it's private ownership and free market over socialism.

As for the ending being compared to ME3, that might be a bit too drastic of a comparison. You can obviously see that they didn't plan ahead in terms of future seasons, and the shipping was completely tertiary to the rest of the plot to feel real, but it's nowhere near as bad as Mass Effect 3, where people had to invent their own theories to sort out what the hell it all meant.

Please don't derail this to a thread of economics. Out of all the things, this is a touchy one that probably won't even be funny for anybody. Let's just skip it, 'k? No good will come of it and it is so far from LOK it hurts.

No economics? Then how about POLITICAL MOTHAFRACKING SCIENCE!

Specifically, I have always been confused as to Republic City's place in the larger world. It isn't part of the Earth Kingdom despite being on their land, so is it a city state? But then it also seems to function as a sort of United Nations for the three kingdoms. As a related question, what is Tenzin and his family's citizenship? The Air Nomads are gone, so that's out. Bumi is a high-ranking member of the Fire Nation's army, but I have no idea what sort of vetting process he had to go through. If Republic City is its own state, then Tenzin can be a citizen of that. Or perhaps, because of his lineage, he has been given "citizen of the world" status, and can just go wherever he wants.

He wasn't part of the fire nation navy. Remember how they had earth and water benders. He was part of the united forces.

Bad joke Amon, you will be missed….

Oh right, I forgot that part.

This actually supports my "Republic is the UN/Geneva" hypothesis. The city is a neutral meeting ground to discuss diplomacy (like Geneva), and its government serves to moderate disputes (like the UN).

I disagree on the "better than others" part, but that's not a conversation for this thread.

In my opinion, Republic City is basically the Vatican sans religion.

Which is another way of saying that it isn't like the Vatican at all.

If you were to take the religion out of the Vatican, it would just be a bunch of old people who dress weird and wave pikes and halberds at people.

How about Monaco then, it's a city state as well.

The council is made up of represenatives from the Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation, Northern&Southern Water Tribes and Air Nomads being in Tenzin's temple island. (There are 4 different places for them, but they're all gone, sadly.) I thought at first Tarrlok's plain clothing made him the non-bending represenative. And how is it The Vatican sans religion if there is a clear form of accepted spirituality that is proven to be real..?

I was just wondering where Tenzin and his family's place in the world was last night. I think he would still count as representing the Air Nomads, even though they currently do not have any homeland outside of Air Temple Island. They are obviously going to eventually regrow the population of airbenders and reclaim homeland and once again become the Air Nomads, so it would make sense to have a place for that in the council now so that the airbenders will already have a place in the city's government. As a side note, I like to think that Jinora will be the one to take her father's place in the council after he steps down. As for Tenzin's citizenship, I have no idea how citizenship works in the Avatar world, so I'm not even gonna try to guess xP

That's a good observation regarding their religion. These people have, in the avatar, living evidence of their faith constantly proving that the spirit world exists, and some people have even visited and spoken to these spirits. Furthermore, the avatar, once sufficiently trained, is even able to speak to all of her previous lives. The presence of such clear proof behind their spirituality means that we should treat religion in their world far differently than we do ours. For example, I consider myself a skeptic. But if I was able to sit down and, at any time, speak to a deceased version of myself and ask him for advice, then I would quite quickly become a very religious person.

Crimson Locks wrote:

I could be wrong, but i think there are some people in the Avatar world that don't believe in spirits. Just an observation that i could just be imagining.

Well, some people have little respect for the spirits, (ZHAO.) but I think it's fairly well established that they exist. Since not everyone is best buds with the Avatar, most people probably wouldn't see them, but Waterbending was given to people by lunar aliens the Moon Spirit, a town was obliterated by a berzerk panda monster, the whole Painted Lady thing, etc. I'm guessing not everyone likes the spirits, (Like that one Avatar with Koh.) just like not everyone likes the Avatar, but they recognize that the spirit world is real.

Kinda late with that news, but you're right. They also named monk Gyatso to him, because Tenzin Gyatso is his full name. yay more knowledge
