I've considered writing several, but I've never been keen to settle for just plain text. I'd rather make a comic, but that requires quite a bit more time and effort. :/

How many fanfictions have I read?
 
Actually, a few more than a couple of users here, surprisingly.

• Bittersweet (twice)
• Bubbles
• A couple of other Derpy Hooves fics, but I can't remember them well-enough
• Past Sins (all of it)
• Vinyl Scratch Tapes

On the whole, I still don't like reading fanfiction. I normally read from the social sciences and very little "professional" fiction, so my fandom preferences mirror my out-of-fandom tendencies.

Son…I am proud. I don't think anyone has used the word "artifice" on these boards. At all.
It seems as if you already have a couple of theories on the matter. I immediately explain it as a matter of recognition. It may appear weird to human viewers for items to be shaped for ponies with human-level intelligence. You could ask the same question about doors. None of them should have knobs to close them. It would be simpler to pull them with a bar placed within an indention.

Going along with either of your potential in-universe options, I'd lean towards the former hypothesis. Perhaps some being such as bipedal dragons had such a cultural impact upon ponydom, that architecture and commonly-used items still resemble the items used by the revered creature.

Well I have over the summer lost enough sleep reading epic lengthed fics +15 chapters strong. I would say If I gave a numuber of how many I read it would be just under the three digit range.

Well that's even LESS subtle.

I have only ever read one. It was called "Dear Idiot," and was basically a letter from Celestia to Blue Blood where she completely tears him apart for being such a jerk to Rarity. It was funny.

Lol, I can tell SOMEONE was a bit peeved after the season finale. Did that guy literally just write a fanfiction as an excuse to call Blue Blood a prick? It sounds entertaining though.

There are three kinds of fanfictions I can get behind:

+ I'm okay with ones that are pretty much just jokes, like that one you mentioned.

+ I like one's with an all FC cast, assuming the writer is at least decent at making characters.

+ And of corse there's the illusive "actually does the show justice" story, where the writer doesn't f**k around with the canon or go for a completely inappropriate tone for their own amusement. But I've yet to actually SEE one.

Ok, so am i the only one that sorta wishes proto-pinkie/g4 styled suprise would get at least some screen time, even if it would only be as a background character?

I think it would be cool. But only as a background character. I wouldn't put it beyond the crew since they've added Twilight's prototype (or something like that) as her mother.

I don't recall but I've read several, at least 15 but possibly more.

Usually I read crossover fics with fandoms I like (The Stargate and Mechwarrior crossovers were very well done as is the Metal Gear Solid one) as well as "episode style" fanfics.

I also take a guilty pleasure and read "Human in Equestria" stories. I love those. STOP LOOKING AT ME LIKE THAT! DON'T JUDGE ME!

I stay the hell away from grimdark and sad stories though.

Wow. I just finished reading a fanfic that I started reading this afternoon, and I gotta say, it hooked onto me like a fish to a fishing rod. It's well-written and portrays most of the characters perfectly. I got some laughs out of the story, though it was kinda disturbing in some parts. (It was rated "M")

I don't think the phrases "portrays most of the characters perfectly" and "it was kinda disturbing" really go together that well. O.o

I PM'ed you the title of the fanfic I read. I'm too embarassed to say it out loud in front of other bronies on this thread.

I had to read it to try to get rid of the images I got after watching some scary clips from MLP fan games.

The ones I've read have been pretty good. I'm still confused that they're by far some of the rarest fics out there but shipping, grimdark and sad fanfics are a dime a dozen.

My favourite episode style fic has got to be Ah Ain't Got no Ack-Cent! Now I could be biased since I'm an AJ fan but it is rated 6 stars on EqD so a lot of people agree with me.

Out of curiosity, I tried counting all of the fics I'd read on Equestria Daily. The final count: 83. Even though a lot of them were really short fics you could read in about 10 minutes or less, that's still a ridiculously high number. I really need to find better ways to fill my free time.

Sounds tough dude, and I can relate to that a little. But remember that YouTube is full of obnoxious idiots, and people who hate everything different. I seriously doubt they have any idea about how things work here on the internets, and about the memetic status of FiM. They're just ignorant.

I don't think my mind will be able to contain the awesomeness though. We'll have to wait and see.

I'd assume so. Wouldn't make much sense if it didn't. But I'm going to be watching it on youtube anyway so it doesn't matter to me all that much.

Same here, and I didn't even finish it. Heck, I'd rather watch an entire movie based on "Cupcakes" then ever relive the small percentage of SAM that I did read.

I read sweet apple massacre. I thought Big mac's motivation for what he did didn't make much sense, it would make more sense to me if he was just a psychopath. But it didn't make me feel sick at all. maybe i just have little empathy for the cutie mark crusaders.
