Brohoof to you, too. =)
@beans
Just seeing the epicosity of this new page makes me think we may not all be sent to the moon. Perhaps the message of love, tolerance and awesomenosity can be spread :D
Now, I haven't been active on the site in a while but the tension surprisingly going on in this thread of all threads is just ridiculous.
Sorry if you don't like having multiple images in a thread, but these two images really sum up my feelings:
So, if you can all just relax and take a deep breath or three, hopefully we can all get back to the tranquility and joy of technicolor cartoon pony magic.
Also, for those of you who don't like the "you must be on the last page to post" feature of the forums, I can sympathize with your concern, but the reason it was implemented that way was to encourage users to read the entire thread. The reason for this was because a lot of users back then often posted in a thread regarding a topic that had already been covered elsewhere in the thread. They didn't know about it because that topic was on a separate page and the users were discouraged to at least skim through the thread. With the "last page" upgrade, this was significantly lessened and it was kept. Of course, it takes some getting used to, but in the end, you'll learn to accept it for what it is and hopefully it will be of no annoyance anymore.
Its not multipule images that bug me. Its when a full blown image war happens on these forums when I start to get irritated.
And I see several images already…I hope that you guys limit yourselves, mainly cause I myself would hate to have to go back ro the main page and get b*tched out again.
Aww. Guys, I just wanna take this opportunity to say that I'm touched by how welcoming this community truly is. I'm active for less than a day and I'm already getting all sorts of epic brohooves and whatnot. This is why the bronies are awesome. Keep on loving and tolerating, everypony.
Chaos has ended? Good, now I can FINALLY get back to work. Stay classy bronynet!
Hey, Beans. Here's something for you.
That being said, lets see if I can start up teh discussion and drum up some activity. Trixie, was she really boasting or was she using her magic to the best of her abilities, and if she did not "boast" as it was, would she suffar cutie mark failure syndrome?
Sigh, and so my suggestion about limiting images in the forums goes unheeded.
Stand back, I'm about to do SCIENCE.
Mrw I ask politly to tone the images down and it's promptly ignored.
Okay guys. Since this forum is obviuosly never going to lose the pictures, I am going to take a break from it for awhile. Shame it's come to this.
Needs more derpy!
I demand more derpy!
More Derpy?
Â
To be honest, I'd like it if Derpy wasn't used too much, derped-eyes or otherwise, in Season 2.
I always liked the effect of never hearing parents actually (speak) in Charlie Brown cartoons or seeing Mr. Wilson on Home Improvement. Less would be more in my opinion.
Â
…
To keep the "discussion" going, @Dr. Stantz, I think the writers had it in their mind that Trixie was just a braggart. I'd also like to think that the writers generally see all characters as being not totally bad with no insecurities. (e.g., Prince Blueblood is just too self-absorbed but doesn't mean any harm, and Gilda is a bully but she was obviously hurt by Rainbow Dash sticking up for Ponyville when Gilda got mean.)
Â
I think Trixie didn't have any real reason to be in Ponyville but to boost her ego, because it's not like she was selling services or a product for money. But I do feel a little bad for her, because I think she is simply a little immature in where she gets her self-esteem.
Â
(also, I suggest that if a discussion topic dies off for a few hours (like with the image dump topics did at times,) then start a new one. I forget that I'm a part of the thread as well, albeit a somewhat quiet one, but I can point things in a certain direction. People can ignore it or listen, and either way is alright.)
Also, I'm sorry about all the text. If I talk, I never feel like I make a decent point without actually using a bunch of words.
Â
Anyway, please keep discussing Derpy (in whichever way you'd like)…
…Or discuss whether you think Trixie is simply a braggart or if she was just doing her job
Â
Oh, dear Lord, aquamarine hurts my eyes…
Now here is my question about season 2. How do you guys think the writers will respond to all of the shipping that this fandom has produced? Will they ignore it? Will they add a few nods here and there? Or will they take care not to put in any scenes that might be read as a ship tease? What do you guys think?
Thank you guys. My phones about to die, so I'll answer when I can, and guys please, please PLEASE tone down the image post.

I think that based on the more popular background pony shipping pairs the writers might put the same pairs in the background or conversing with each other if at a social gathering.

The HMS Subtle… She is a steady ship that rides smoothly and doesn't upset the passengers.
Â
My gut feeling is that any popular ships with main characters or background ponies will be avoided altogether. There will be no explicit ships. (and by explicit, I mean, obvious romantic interest, not anything obscene.) Any ships would be:
a.) accidental, because every background pony has been shipped with everyone other pony somewhere, and statistically, the pairing is likely to occur at some point, or
b.) subtle, so that the only person able to find it was looking for it.
Â
But on the whole, I say they avoid it. Any ships will be more like best friends than anything else.

Depends really. If we're talking strictly straight shipping, then it might show up occasionally (in a light-hearted manner, like what we see currently with Spike and Rarity). I doubt there will be any reference whatsoever to the usual female-female shipping that this community seems to love, since we unfortunately live in a society where some people think that non-straight relationships are 'inappropriate' or even 'sinful'. Can you imagine some of the complaints the producers would receive for including even the slightest hint of lesbianism in a children's cartoon?
I guess if they were extra careful they could slip in a reference so sneaky that only those in the brony community would see it, such as showing Vinyl Scratch and Octavia hanging out together, but I doubt they'd do anything beyond that.

Even if they managed to slip something in, it would still be pretty awesome. I would have a massive amount of respect for Hasbro if they did that.

I think they will just continue doing what they had done, creating awesome stories of six awesome ponies with a great friendship, that sometimes bronies take it to a whole new level.

I think that's a great point. They didn't even create most of the first season with us in mind, and we made fanon out of it. So we'll probably end up doing the same thing: making fanon out of what is actually nothing.
Â
But with the obvious Derpy inclusion in Episode 15 (still one of my favorites, actually,) and nods elsewhere like in Episode 16, I can't help but think that maybe something intentional will be thrown in.
Â
Just…subtle, if anything.
I for one hope they don't overdo it with shipping and/or brony shoutouts. I feel like that would detract from the reasons that we bronies starting watching in the first place. Sure, placing Lyra and Bon Bon together in the background is great and all, but anything more than that would seem over the top (at least to me). Remember that the show is still targeted primarily for younger girls and children in general.
While I was a fan of Derpy's appearance in Feeling Pinkie Keen, (dropping the objects on Twilight) I think that it should be a one time thing that shows the creators recognize the fandom's obsession with the character and nothing more. I think it would be a fun idea if they kept her derp-eyed in various background shots, as a "Where's Waldo"-type game for we bronies to obsess about.
In short, I think that season one handled these issues beautifully and that season two should do the same. :)

I agree with you, the way they treat it in season one was perfect, with only some little references here and there.
In season 2, I still hope that they make some little references, but mainly I just hope for one thing only, an episode based on a story about Luna, I would like to see how the writers treat that character.

Maybe she was a traveling entertainer, nothing was said about her, at least I don't think, it would explain why she was traveling with that kinda equipment, but maybe that's just me.
As for the shipping, I don't think they'll overdue it. Remember, the target audience for this is young girls after all.
If they do ship, it'll be subtle, and with probably the pairings that the fandom made….maybe.
Also, sorry about how long it took me to reply, my phone was dead (that's how I made those few post) and I'm just now back on my desktop.
In response to Platus's question, I believe that they will not reference a lot of stuff in the brony culture so much. Rather than referencing old things and/or things in the fandom, I believe they will create new things to expand the cartoon and the fandom.
Long story short, I think the creators of the show will come up with new and creative characters, ideas, and storylines to keep the old bronies interested and to expand the fandom.

I can't believe you guys actually think they'll ship anyone. It's a kids' show, they're not going to do anything in that area. You could argue that the only time any "shipping" went on was with Rarity and the Prince, but this was done only to show the girls that the show is marketed to that fantasies are stupid and will never come true, which was the entire point of "The Best Night Ever."
Well, we also didn't think they'd acknowledge the demographic that they have, but they did, so quite frankly, IMO anyways, I could see it happening, but as I said, if they do, it'd be subtle.
@Vulcan
From Platus:

Â
When I read that, I think it was implied that direct, obvious shipping wouldn't occur. I think the responses followed that implication, because I don't think anyone participating currently believes Lyra and Bon Bon will start necking in the background or anything.
Â
Â
Â
You did bring up a thought though. I don't think that was the message for Episode 26. I felt like it would either be "Friends can make an otherwise bust of a night fun" or "Things aren't always as peachy as they seem like they are." Something like "Fantasies are stupid and they don't come true" is true, more often than not, but I think the writers stay away from cynical truths like that.
I doubt there'll be anything that could be adequately described as "shipping" in the official canon, but on the other hoof common pair-ups like Lyra and Bon Bon that have been embraced by the community (in non-shipping ways) will most certainly make a return in some manner, maybe even to more of an extent.
But Vinyl and Octavia? That's a stretch, they don't really have much in common beyond their fan depiction.

That's what I was referring to actually, not sure how I should've put it, but yeah, that's the kinda thing I'd expect to see.
Though yeah, Vinyl and Octavia is just stretching it a bit.

I could see them having a rivalry. Maybe they live close together and like to play different music, so they always fight over their aesthetics. That might work.

That would work, guess all we can do is wait and see come Season 2 huh?
Okay, had to delete my post cause the image in the quote was kinda big, but that is awesome!
@♫DJ Xelus, Scratch Master♫
This seems appropriate:
Well, comedic shipping can be very lulzful, but that's where we should draw the line I think. Sure, shipping can exist in fan work, but in the actual show? Never gonna happen.

Again, you never know, but it wouldn't be anything serious. As it was pointed out, they'd probably just put the background ponies together more often then not, and that'd be about it.
Hey, here's a random question for any South Park fans out there: do you think there will be a future South Park episode about Bronies? I feel like it's the kind of subject matter they like to poke fun at. If there is, what do you think it'll be like? will Bronies be portrayed in a positive or negative manner? Any thoughts?

I used to watch that, but I wouldn't be to surprised. They've referenced most everything else. As for a negative or positive light though, that, I cannot say.
Fine, I'll post here for now… I liked the KYM page better though…
@SinisterSnuggles: Just for the love of Celestia, don't get carried away with it.

Thank you, I already posted one deal about that, and got down rated 2 karma for it and I don't want to lose anymore (well, besides what the trolls have already down rated me.)
@Connor: Anyways, I saw your post on the main page, and yes, I do think that there should be more male ponies, will there be though? Only time, and Season 2 will tell.

ooh I've actually though about this myself. I'm sure there would be a few jokes at our expense, but I would get such a kick out of just seeing a Brony episode being made that I'd probably overlook most of them.

Where'd you get the license? Is there a template or something?
So, hum, just to get things known: From now on, discussions are restricted to the forum, is that it?

Yes there is. Ok for everyone who wants to make a license i will post the blank templates on the pic section.
