I read this somewhere
If you went back in time to your childhood and someone told you that Transformors would suck and ponies would be all the rage. What would you say?

To be honest, I never was big on Transformers to begin with, my stuff was, not to surprisingly, the Real Ghostbusters, so I can't say anything about that.

I'll just copy my response to this question from the main page:

I would have thought they were mad, and probably would have laughed at them for suggesting something so stupid. I would have laughed even harder if they told me I’d read fanfiction of said ponies or talked on forums about them but those things happened too. Funny how quickly things can change.

I would actually be puzzled as to how that show would be popular and why I would become a fan of it. I would also watch the show to see why it is popular. I have a feeling many of us felt this way before they became bronies. Which leads me to how I became a brony…

Several months ago, I saw some MLP: FiM pictures in a sports forum (not kidding, BTW). After finding out where the pictures came from, I did a little research about it and realized how popular it was. I watched a few episodes of it and thought it was interesting. I watched more episodes the other day, but I could not stop watching more and more episodes for some reason. By the time I reached episode 5, I became committed to watching the whole series. I later found myself looking up on MLP fanarts, websites, and watching some MLP clips.

Hay, did you take that form the rage comic I made? XD

To answer Bean's question, I would think I was dealing with a troll posing as a time traveler, considering what the show used to be like and what the ponies used to look like, and go back to playing Timesplitters 2. Before Gen 4 came out and I noticed how cute the ponies suddenly were, that's what I used to spend most of my time doing.

I actually though about this myself the other day and had a good lol, it's funny how things turn out sometimes.

I really don't know what could've happened.

While I probably would've laughed at first, there is the factor that I'm very open minded. I might've just shrugged it off and said "We'll see". Afterall, I like music from Dimmu Borgir to Vocaloid, and videogames from Pokemon to Gears of War. Also cuteness has never been a problem, since I have eight years of anime behind my back.

I actually had kind of a 'meh' attitude towards the first three episodes, but Applebuck Season kept my hopes up for more good episodes, and finally Dragonshy, Bridle Gossip, and Swarm of The Sentury sealed the deal. After that, I started drawing pony fanart, and this is where it ended up. Drawing magical ponies from a girls' cartoon…



But the only part that REALLY surprised me, was that I noticed I was enjoying fanfiction…

No I read it in the comments somewhere in the beginning. When the pony page first started.

Ugh, roughly ten minutes between each post. This is depressing.

What? Am I the only one who thinks it's really not that bad?

You might find yourself waiting hours for a response on here,10 minutes is snappy.

If all the activity transfers here instead of on the main page, where we're obviously not wanted, the post might pick up.

Besides, the main page is not always as active, I've noticed it takes a few minutes for post to sometimes show up there as well.

Between the two of us, yes.

What pisses me off is how incredibly trivial this whole thing is, neither side is suffering more then I minor inconvenience but we're both acting like it's the fate of the world. (and, well our side is suffering a slightly greater inconvenience, but I'm sure that's what they think too.)

And what's worse is how nobody's offering to have a rational discussion. We TRIED that last night with DPF, but he literally made one comment and bolted, then suddenly the room was FULL of trolls derailing the discussion. This isn't about the damn comments anymore, I just want some answers.

Also, Drpepperfan has a lot to do. In case you hadn't noticed, he's a mod, which means that he has more to worry about than whether you should discuss on the page or in the forums. Just decide already. It's not such a big deal.

I don’t want to seem like I’m running away or being an irresponsible mod, but I don’t have the time to look at this entire mess.

Honestly, whatever happens to this entry or the forums is not something that can be solved today. Because of what’s been happening lately on KYM, and the arguments happening today, the higher admins will discuss the future of MLP on KYM, and hopefully provide reasons why. Because of that, it seems hardly important to have users and moderators argue about the issue right now, immediately.

All I request is that you guys just calm down a bit; and if you have some sort of input about this so the admins can hear it, to for now- send it here to the admins under Serious Business. I also request that all of you don’t directly antagonize other users right now, implicitly or explicitly, because it is just something that nobody wants to deal with if its completely unnecessary. I’m not going to lock the comments or anything, or ban any users, but I just request that such a controversial discussion not overshadow the usually polite discussion that occurs not only on the MLP page, but on all KYM pages. Please.

Going to bed, so PM me (and I’ll forward to one of the higher admins) or PM one of the higher admins directly if you need further clarification.

I should also mention that as far as I know, the admins are probably rather undecided on the future on MLP on KYM, and therefore any mods or users opinions don’t necessarily reflect our own, since we all have different opinions on it.

Again, I just please request that we let this issue for now die down because again, it’s not something that can be solved right now, immediately; it will likely involve a discussion and difficult decision between the admins, and so arguing with or antagonizing other users is, in my opinion, largely unnecessary.

It ISN'T that big of a deal, which is why I wanna know why it's so hard for everyone to just talk about it without image spamming or condescending other users. What are we waiting for? A staff member to step in and sort everything out?

While it is definitely trivial, Dr. Pepperfan did have a point. I have been following the situation, but it takes a while before I interfere.

The comment section is ideal for news, questions, and the quick conversation regarding the two. We need the comment section for that.

The more complicated conversation on the other hand, should be brought here on the Forum. Even though the forum could definitely use a facelift. It's just nowhere near as good as the comment section. But we could still put the Forum to a better use than just a place for image wars.

I don't like the "useless" comments any more than DPFan, but I deal with them. The only time I REALLY have a problem with comment section, is when people start commenting in order to force the FiM entry to stay on top of the treanding bar. No! Just NO! The forced commenting is what causes them to look down on us.

Since we have proved our worth by moderating the images, it shouldn't be too difficult to clean our act a bit on the amount of comments too. Now that things have finally calmed down again, there shouldn't be another storm, unless we go and cause it ourselves…

I sense someone implying my name as hard as they can… If I am ever to appear condescending to you, it is not by intention, but incidental, as what I assume could be considered condescending of me by others is usually just me trying to point out why they probably haven't thought everything through completely. My intention isn't to make people angry or feel stupid, but to elucidate them as to why they should have thought on the subject a little while longer before saying anything. I myself have upon occasion said things without having thought as much as I should have, and rather wish I had had explanation as to why my thoughts were so readily disregarded, and that is why I try my best to explain to people why I disagree.

It's escalating because you have been particularly unjustifiably self righteous. Calm down and think about what you are saying next time you want post here. Sure, Vazquez may not be saying it in the nicest way possible, but he's right. Try to change your tone to one more acceptable to those who might be listening.

You two seem to draw ire from each others presence but I have to ask that you both keep calm and refrain from personal attacks. I'm not saying any one party is more to blame than the other. I just think we should let the bitterness die out between you two, atleast for a while.

I have stated for a long time, all the different reasons why the comments should not be used for conversations. I'm not saying I wasn't at fault, I'm a big enough man to admit I get carried away when stuff like this goes down. But I only ever treat people with the same level of respect they treat me.

That's the problem then. Treat them better than they treat you and there will be no problem.

I probably wouldn't have been surprised. I've been a fan of moe shows for a few years now – Azumanga Daioh and Lucky Star first among them – and FIM isn't all that different. I certainly wouldn't be expecting it, but I don't think that I would have seen it as being outside the realm of possibility.

Whatever happened to Love and Tolerance? I skimmed the war back on the main page, and it was just stupid. We had fans of the show attacking each other. This whole argument has seriously made me cringe. Fighting the trolls is bad enough, now we're attacking each other.
