Ivan's right. I tried out the Huntsman on it, and it did a bunch of damage. Too bad almost everyone else on the server were other classes and were shooting each other instead of the giant green wizard.

I want to play the Event MvM, but the last time I tried I couldn't connect to the server. With ACIII coming out tonight, I probably won't be playing TF2 for awhile, too. Hopefully I can reach a server after dinner.

Holy shit, on one server while I was playing TF2 at the time, me and a couple of other players got everyone to stop killing each other and stop capping the point so that we can farm Merasmus just for fun. It was the best server I've been on for a long time.

Also, the prices of a Voodoo-Cursed object is ONE SCRAP EACH.
Imagine being on the Halloween servers with the map (I think it was called "Lakeside") getting gifts while everyone hangs out to farm Merasmus AND the private gifts. That would be the greatest way to be rich in 10 seconds flat (and no, I am not making that joke, it's a small amount of time to trade and get easy scrap from other players wanting to get Voodoo-Cursed objects).
Oh yeah, did I mention one Cursed Soul is worth one Refined? It was worth the value of that one Pyro hat I had.

The Ozzy Furocity servers (search for tag "ozfur") have a plugin that disables pvp whenever Merasmus is around. We got to kill him 3 times in about an hour. Bad news is, it has a ping limit of 250 ms, so players form some regions might have trouble with that.

I'm really enjoying the halloween map. It's a shame no-one cooperates when Merasmus is out, though. Haven't killed him once. However, the map is really well set up, and it's also really good for a lot of classes – I've been really good with Soldier (best part: "DAMN YOU MERASMUS, YOU ARE THE WORST ROOMMATE" when falling down the pit), which I'm usually average with, and I just got out of an excellent full round where I played Sniper, Pyro, and Scout, and got almost 50 points total and first place. Most maps I would have only done any good while I was playing Pyro. It's especially odd that I'm any good with scout; as a rule, any of my good Scout play is exclusively on MvM.

The TF2 zombies are the best. Zombie scout is like those fast zombies in 28 Days Later.

Thanks to [mod] and [mod], and some people that traded, I have Scout, Medic, Demo, Engie and Soldier Souls.

Still selling all these damned spells. No one seems to want them.

I finally beat Merasmus last night! I got matched onto a Skial server that had PVP off during boss appearances, and we took him out without even all going huntsman sniper. I still did, he's good against Merasmus. We almost beat level 2 Merasmus, too, but he left literally as the bar was empty.

Any of you got them, I got a haunted Crone's Dome and a haunted Master Mind for trade, and a haunted Tiara if that means anything to anyone

How'd everyone's halloween go? I got a sniper soul and a pyro soul, a couple masks, the arms for the soldier's robot costume, and a bunch of items due to drop farming for the voodoo items. Now I'm training myself in rocket jumper/manntreads/market gardener, purely for the heck of it.

>Play Borderlands 2 nonstop
>beat the game and finally get back to TF2 in time for Halloween
>still in Borderlands mode
>forget TF2 has no sprint button
>crouch jump right into the bottomless pit in attempt to sprint and jump it
>Merasmus has mystically removed all the spaghetti from my pockets

New update was pretty cool. Merasmus didn't go down that easy, but the fight was fun, and the new lines made this update absolutely hilarious. I think I liked Wave 666 more, though. Starting out with so much cash was awesome! It sucked getting that much cash before on modded servers, because the difficulty wasn't scaled up. But with this, you get to experience the fun of being overpowered while still facing a good challenge!

I scored a scout, pyro, as well as two sniper souls. I also bought some Spooky Sleeves off someone, and got another hat drop, finally! It's just another Soldier hat, though. Why is it always a Soldier hat? If anyone wants a Salty Dog, I'll trade it for 1.33 ref or another craft hat (maybe even a dirty one if it's something I want). Also, got a sticky jumper in a drop, but I bought one ages ago so I have a spare. Does anybody here lack a sticky jumper, but really would like one?

Oh by the code of valve, I got so lucky. Yesterday I checked my backpack because I got a new drop, it was a All-Father, level 15.
MFW I saw it sitting there in my backpack:

Well now I probably will never get this lucky again, but it is awesome that it happened.

That's insanely lucky, man. I just went ahead and bought the mutton chops for my Trolldier the other day. Used my Deep Commitment to Purple can (that I seriously got in a drop, come at me bro) on it, and paired it with a purchased Honcho's Headgear. Looks freakin' awesome.

Here's some of my favorite loadouts, while I'm at it, including my trolldier.

Well, I sold all my haunted items and Souls, since I din't like them. Beat Merasmus a couple of times in Ozzy Furocity servers (with truce plugin that disables pvp when the boss is around), but didn't make it to loot island :( And I got a Sandvich Safe from random drop, wooh! Also traded a lot, made my backpack go from 38 to 55 dollars in 20 days (according to backpack.tf)

That wouldn't be a sentry, but building some kind of automaton to do your dirty work does sound like a good idea.

Don't attack head on. That's the best advice, jump around the map, take paths that aren't well travelled, move as much as possible, attack from behind, and sandman the heavies.

Scout: Use your jump to escape large groups. A lot of times, you can use it to get onto scout- and soldier- only paths, like the top of the 2fort bridge. Mad Milk is good in a pinch; throw it then shoot your enemy to heal. If you know how to use it, use the sandman, but personally, I love running around as a Mackerel scout for the humiliation factor. If you're good at dodging, that's an awesome way to play, running around enemies and beating them with a fish.

Soldier: Use the blast radius to your advantage. There's a reason I broke down my Direct Hit for scrap, direct hits are really hard to hit. The buff banner is useful; even if you only get the assist, you get rage, so you don't have to aim for kills if there's a lot of your team around (that can be really helpful if you're not too good at soldier kills.)

Demo: Use rebounds off of walls. A lot of my kills have been by bouncing bombs around corners to surprise enemies who thought they'd avoided me. Consider running demoknight; the health and damage bonus for kills is really useful.

Pyro: Now this is mine. Personally, I use a Strange vanilla Flamethrower. It's got good damage and no airblast cost penalty. At close ranges, this is what you want to use; another option is to go Degreaser/Axetinguisher within melee range. The only disadvantage with that is that airblasts take a huge amount of ammo. If you get in trouble against non-pyro enemies, just run; often the burn will kill them. Airblast against soldiers, demos, and (less known) huntsman snipers; if I remember right, hits with reflected projectiles are mini-crits, too. I use the Flare Gun for a secondary. After a while, the funky arc is easy to project, you just need to use it enough to figure it out. If you can lead your target, it's one of the most deadly weapons out there. Definitely one of the most underrated weapons out there. The damage isn't great, but the burn is long, and it crits burning enemies. I've helped hold the second point on the 2nd stage of Dustbowl (and been one of the best players on my team) by having a dispenser on one side of the bridge-thing and just popping out, taking quick aim, and hitting enemies coming out of the tunnels, then hiding back at the dispenser, going to the right and looking up occasionally. As for melee weapons, I haven't really experimented with them, because I usually use my flamethrower at melee range.

For a rapist Pyro, I got you covered.
The Degreaser will decrease your switch time by 65%, allowing you to quickly get your secondary out in case you can't use your prim to its full effectiveness. I suggest the Reserve Shooter as a secondary, its decreased switch time stacks with the degreaser's almost doubling the bonus. It also helps against enemy pyros, where your primary and flares are practically useless, not to mention the minicrit from airborne enemies. Use that to catch scouts who are jumping, Demos and soldiers explosive jumping, or enemies who are dropping levels in the map because they're too lazy to take the stairs. For a melee, I suggest the Powerjack or Axtinguisher/Pummeler. The Powerjack is good if you need a speed boost, equipping it with an Attendent and a Degreaser will increase your speed by 10%, allowing you to outrun every class but scout, at the cost of bullets n shit doing 10% more damage (which is hardly noticeable, IMO).
But the key for being a good Pyro isn't confined to just loadouts, there's also how you play the class
Use alternate routes, catch enemies off guard, airblast, spycheck, all that stuff
Best way is to memorize the map you're playing on, take paths you know others don't and won't expect. The degreaser's faster switch is good if you need to react fast, and the Backburner if you're going to sneak up on enemies.
And Twilitlord, the Backburner has the increased airblast cost, not the Degreaser. Degreaser has a damage penalty in afterburn and direct damage

What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in the BLU Pyros, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret raids on RED, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in airblast warfare and I’m the top spychecker in the entire BLU mercenary force. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of Spies across New Mexico and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my flamethrower. Not only am I extensively trained in flame-based combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the BLU mercenary corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You’re fucking dead, kiddo.

But srsly I've never liked any of the other flamethrowers, so I mix them up sometimes.

The best reason to use the Degreaser is more for Axtinguishing people rather than Reserve Shooting. Axtinguishing will one hit kill anyone that's not overhealed or a heavy.

Now in regards to flamethrowers, I use the Backburner. I find the damage bonus + backshooting to be more necessary than airblasts, but you can still airblast. A good Pyro will camp in places where it's easily possible to sneak up on people and then use the Backburner to fuck them up.

My personal secondary is the Flare Gun. Pyros need a long range and Flare Guns crit at 90 damage, they allow Pyros to take on heavies and snipers without sneaking up on them. Detonator is mediocre, it does not get crits and you can only light one person with a detonation. If you're worried about other pyros, just backpedal, they'll die before you do.

As for melee, I advise either Axtinguisher or Homewrecker. The Axtinguisher finishes off enemies well, but I find myself not needing it often because I rely on my flamethrower and I never use the degreaser. Homewrecker is great because you're not going to melee much and it's an Engineer's best friend. Sometimes a Spy will kill an engineer and sap the buildings and this will keep their buildings safe until they get back. It also destroys buildings in about 2 hits, so bonus.

I've recently started using a strange Homewrecker instead of the Axetinguisher, especially when I'm playing with my Engie brother. Still love the flare gun; the accuracy is unreal once you figure out the drop on the projectiles, and sometimes you can use the drop to go horizontal on a platform above you. I've gotten many a hiding Sniper that way. And, as I said, I use a regular Strange Flamethrower; the disadvantages of the others just aren't worth it, especially since Pyroland just confuses me now and I like to use the Airblast to counter Soldiers and Demos (especially sticky-trapped points).

However, from someone on the other end of a Detonator, I can tell you it's pretty deadly in the right hands. It's especially deadly against Engies, as the blast can push you away from your buildings. I barely held on to an extremely defensive position practically against the back wall (to the point that I had to walk through a very specific path to get behind my sentry) of Point B, Leg 3 of Dustbowl, and a Detonator Pyro just launched me out of it. I barely held on to that position. Honestly, if he'd had some more cooperative teammates, that nest would have gone out in seconds. If you know how to use it, the Detonator is killer.

So I'm playing on this server right, and me and this dude get into an argument over what is considered F2P. He believed that if you didn't buy the game pre-freedom, you are automatically and forever a F2P. I then explained to him that TF2 is a BUY to WIN, and at the same time, a FREE to PLAY. He just laughed. So what do you guys think?

I think you are no longer F2P when you have a Mann Co. Cap and can get cosmetic drops. Yet I don't even want to call TF2 a "Pay to Win" game, since almost every weapon they've released is droppable to the general public, including F2P players. My brother got a Flying Guillotine in a drop today. I may have been jelly, but the fact that he can play without paying and still get weapons to even out the odds against veterans, let alone the fact that standard weapons and loadouts are still very competitive, makes me think that it's very much balanced to be fair to everyone. Remember, after all, all paid does is give you hats and miscs. You could play for awhile without paying, learn how to dominate with every class, be a feared player on every server you enter, and never pay a dime. All hypothetical, of course, since we all know that once you play enough you realize hats are near-mandatory, but from a gameplay standpoint, you don't need to be P2P.

@Engineer role in melee only

I'm humoring the idea of the engie getting a Necromancer wand for degroots keep that lets him build skeleton warriors instead of sentries

Catapults or ballista's sound awesome too, and sensible for the engie class but…how would hit anything with them?

@Calkarot

Frankly I think some people are just acting elitist over the fact that they bought the game. But neither buying it, nor getting it for free means anything to me

Recently Twilitord asked me for a strange sticky launcher since his uncrating yielded none. He noticed that I was doing trading on TF2 recently and asked for one (with some payment of course). 5 minutes later he's dominating me with said sticky.

So, if you ever need anything on TF2 that's not ridiculously hard to get (like a vintage Gentle Manne's Service Metal) just contact me. Hats, misc, weaps, stranges, anything. I trade more than play these days anyways.

In case you were wondering, I only spent the money for 1 key on the game. PimpAbra helped me a lot in getting to where I am now, but I plan on paying it back someday.
