Actually it turns out I DO have a Widowmaker. I didn't remember it because I got it for free from the Mannco store for spending over 20 dollars.

I'm trying to get a fancy dress uniform. From what I understand, it's 4 refined right?

Damn, it hasn't went down in price at all :(

I tried the Gunslinger/Frontier Justice a bit more the other day. It doesn't work quite as well if you're fighting more armed enemies rather than melee, but still works decent if you add another building defense perk. Also, I tried putting perks into my pistol instead of my Frontier Justice. It's great for saving up your crits for tanks/giants, but I think the Frontier Justice might actually have a revenge crit cap. I don't think I've ever gotten over 35.

@phoenix
I looked through tf2tp, and you can get it for 3.66 if you look through the offers. If you wait, someone might post a dirty one for much cheaper.

I actually went on the TF2 Wiki when this subject came up, because I couldn't remember the name of the Frontier Justice. Yes, it has a cap of 35, no matter what mode you play.

Had another great game with Phoneix on his Australian based server.

I'm getting better at looking out for that cash

I tried out a new strategy in one game. I decided to be a sniper and focus my upgrades on Jarate, the bushwacka and resitances.

Failed miserably. The sniper simply cannot get in close to the action.

I tried again using the Huntstman instead of the Bushwacka. That worked out much better. I was able to maintain a constant stream of piss on the machines while our heavies finished them off. The huntsman allows me to get within Jarate range while still being able to do damage. The robots die incredibly fast when jarated and under heavy fire.

I have to say I underestimated the huntsman, it's more versatile than I thought.

Just to prove BSoD is getting good with collecting the cash money:

I found the Frontier Justice/Wrangler combo to be awesome for Engy. Add in projectile penetration and sometimes I just let my Sentry die to get all dem revenge crits.

So, since I never really got used to the Shortstop, I thought I would try it out. Since I got my ass kicked a few days back by a scout using scattergun with the Atomizer, I thought I would practice with that bat, too. I used those two together with the mad milk, and I swear, my scout game instantly improved. As long as the milk hits, I can triple jump all I want without any drawbacks. People hit me less often when I triple jump. And on top of all that, the shortstop's tight spread makes it a bit more effective than the scattergun from a little further off, so I take less damage when I do get hit due to damage drop-off. Anyone else tried this load-out? I know a few of you main Scout, so you should really give it a shot!

Also, Halloween is closing in! I can't wait to see what the Halloween updates will bring! They're always my favorite. Don't forget to vote your favorite Halloween themed items in the workshop guys! :]

I use the shortstop quite loyally. It's definitely the most versatile scout weapon, even if it is the least powerful.

This mainly comes down to its firing speed, reload speed and its longer range which makes it good for all purposes. The scattergun is more situational than the shortstop (delivering a maximum amount of damage at cost of a long reload time.).

Mad milk is also insanely useful (extinguishing, revealing spies, healing) so I carry that too. But I stick with my Sandman. The Atomizer is great for reaching high, distant ledges but I cannot get over the awesomeness that is stunning people with a baseball.

Does anyone here use anything other than Sandman or the fish? I've got some good use out of the fan, atomizer, and even the wrap assassin (which a lot of people sell short). In particular, has anyone else tried teaming up with a pyro using the sun-on-a-stick? I've never had a chance to.

Nope sorry. Only time I've used the wrap assassin was in combination with the baby face. The bleed damage give you a full boost really quickly.

That and for spawn killing people through bulletproof glass (The ol' whack-ball-through-window trick)

I have, it's somewhat situational, but it does have quite a few uses.

I find the Fish hilarious so I keep it on my scout. Sandman in regular TF play is not very useful and I don't play scout in MvM.

Me and BSoD tried an experiment. How would Six heavies fair on each of the non-advanced maps. Here are the results

I would rank them like this:

Mannworks: Easy as piss, the only reason we didn't get A+ was because I was dicking around with the KGB

Decoy: Hardest map out of the three. The large size, multiple routes and sheer number of scouts means you will die a lot and miss money.

Coaltown: Almost as easy as Mannworks, as long as you keep the bots contained at the beginning of the level.

Hell, I would guess with 5 Heavies+1 scout we would have gotten A+ on all of em.

We also tried going with 6 huntsman snipers which failed miserably. Then we had a team with 4 Bison soldiers.

The bison soldier thing was pretty hilarious. We marveled at the PEW PEW lasers flying in all directions.

I only got one screenshot unfortunately

Have we tried a full engie team?

I was playing the other day on Dustbowl on BLU as Medic, cause he's one of my better classes and there were already 2 pyros/no medics, and we make it through the first 2 mini-rounds no problem. Now we're on the third round, specifically the second point, i.e. the one that take forever to even get partially captured. I actually do really good here as medic: I like to sit just behind the bend and heal the soldiers and heavies that pop out and shoot, as well as overhealing the snipers, and it's really easy for me to cover the whole team by myself. By this point, we've been trying to get the point for about 3 minutes, when I notice another medic passing by, pocket medicing a heavy. I think "OK, if he's just going to pocket medic I guess that's fine, I'll just get everyone else." Then I realize another medic just showed up. That's when I decided to check my team class balance: including me, we had four medics. About half of our team was medic, and only one or two of the others were worth pocketing by this point. Honestly, four medics is even more useless than three snipers. That's when I switched to Engie.

I've actually started playing sniper more lately; I get a pretty decent amount of kill with him on defend. I do OK as a huntsman, too, but I could probably do better. Which reminds me: Connor, I'd take your extra Sydney Sleeper.

Big MvM update. Thoughts? Comments? Nerfs you don't like?

Just noticed marked for death has been nerfed in MvM. I kind of want to see if it makes a big difference. Anyone want to try different loadouts in MvM with me? Just PM my steam.

  • Explosive Headshots

    • damage is now 150 regardless of upgrade level
    • damage is done in one tick instead of the previous six
    • added a slowing effect based on upgrade level (50%-80% slow, 2-4 second duration)
    • radius still scales with upgrade level (unchanged)
  • Marked For Death duration reduced to 7 seconds from 15 seconds when the target is a giant robot
  • Reduced the "effect bar recharge rate increased" upgrade from 20% increments with an 80% cap to 15% increments with a 60% cap

So explosive headshots are less effective.

Scouts need to whack giants with the Fan more frequently to maintain the mark of death (but 7 seconds is still enough time to kill a giant)

And that last one, I am not too sure what it means but I think it means that the recharge rate upgrades on recharging items like jarate will give you a 15% buff per upgrade instead of a 20% buff

I played a stock sniper + Bushwacka on MvM yesterday. Heavy, 2 Pyros, Soldier, and Scout allies, no Engies, on Decoy. Maxed out explosive headshots, reload speed and penetration and put a lot into Charge and Damage, all on my Rifle, plus some clip size and total ammo on my SMG. It worked really well. The great part about the sniper rifle is that Giants go down in a few shots if you aim right; I took down some medicked Giant Heavies by having the pyros airblast away the medics and take 5 or 6 semi-charged headshots at the Heavy. The sniper's also really good against the robot snipers (being bots, they don't do much to dodge). However, it's still just as difficult to hit all of those scouts as in Multiplayer.

I want to try out some other builds and classes sometime. I think I'll demoknight tonight.

I-I-I just finished Gear Grinder Gasps For Air i am telling you,its HELL,HELL.The first-FIRST wave is the final wave in Steel Trap. You Start with 400 dollars….400 DOLLARS,NOT A PENNY MORE.

@Max: whoa. That sounds insane. I'm 2 into my first run on Steel Trap, and I can't imagine doing that.

Speaking of Steel Trap, I did either Ctrl+Alt+Destruction or CPU Slaughter a couple of days ago (I don't know which one, since they're both Coaltown missions and the only ones I've done). It was insane. I engied, which I usually do if there is none, especially on Coaltown, whose engie virtues I have extolled in the past. We died a couple of times, but other than that, we just dominated. It helped that we had some voice communication going on, and everyone knew how to run their class on MvM (except the scout, to an extent, but we sorted him out). We never let the bomb make it to the alarm zone on the final wave (I got an achievement for that). I even found a bucket of paint midway through one of the waves, my first, and it was A Deep Commitment to Purple (purple just so happens to be my university's main color). So yeah, awesome match overall. Better than the Decoy one I'd been in before where no-one knew what they were doing and they all were arguing in the middle of waves over text (and therefore stopping a bunch).

Yeah, candy cane is really fuckin' good due to the lack of health packs in MvM.

I love the Manniversary
I haven't been able to find anyone to trade for a Last Breath, so I finally caved at its reduced price and got it
This is my Pyro loadout as of today:

All I need is Pyrobotics Pack and my loadout will be complete
A Pyro with a diesel exhaust pipe and a skull-shaped gas mask will scare the crap outta anyone
If any of you get your hands on one, I'll see if I can buy or trade for it

Guys, I just got back from Mann vs Machine. I've gotta tell you- wave 5 of Mannslaughter is abso-f*cking-lutely bananas.

If anyone has any kind of tips it would be much appreciated.

@Pyro
I have the pyrobotics pack if you are interested.

@WinDigo

So you have completed it aswell,I have 2/3 completed,I need another ticket.
I only have to finish coaltown!

Anyone wanna play a game when i get a ticket?

Aaron A. Aaronson's face when:

But really, the next big halloween update is looking great. I'm looking forward to seeing the halloween themed items that I've voted for get added into the game. Also, what do you guys think of the new system for finding haunted gifts?

Merasmus is pretty spooky to defeat, but if you can get the whole server cooperating and using only the Huntsman (1080 damage for a full shot) he goes down stupidly fast.

"…get the whole server cooperating…"

Good luck with that.
