"14/F/Cali" is a shorthand for identifying oneself as a 14-year-old girl from California, which is used in response to the initialism "a/s/l" requesting someone's age, sex and location. 14/F/Cali is often associated with adult men masquerading as teenage girls in online chatrooms, based off the tongue-in-cheek adage "there are no girls on the Internet".

Origin

On November 22nd, 2003, the Tribe Forums^[1] user cdub uploaded a photograph of a shirtless, overweight man with the caption "14/f/cali" (shown below).

Spread

On December 19th, 2007, a YTMND page titled "14/F/Cali" was created, featuring a picture of a man wrapped in cellophane with the caption "you fell for the trap" (shown below).

On March 1st, 2010, Urban Dictionary^[5] user Jack Hoes submitted an entry for "13/f/cali," defining it as a chatspeak phrase used by older men pretending to be young women on the Internet. On April 16th, 2011, a page for "14/f/Cali" was created on Encyclopedia Dramatica.^[8] On January 30th, 2012, the 14-f-cali Reddit^[6] account was created. On March 26th, 2013, League of Legends Forums^[7] member Zeno666 submitted a thread titled "13/f/cali Looking to learn league of legends from a strong man." On May 24th, Gixxer Forums^[9] user SVS posted an image macro of an elderly man using a laptop in a grassy field with the caption "14/f/cali" (shown below).
