The poster was originally posted by Tumblr user mylittlepony4u in February 2013 and spread among the fandom throughout the 2020s, inspiring redraws and original memes referencing the poster. In June 2026, X / Twitter user @Onipensai started a spin-off of the meme in which an artist tells Bluey not to swear, inspiring a wave of redraws, many of which feature VTubers.

Origin

On February 26th, 2013, Tumblr^[1] user mylittlepony4u made a now-deleted post sharing a poster with the text "Don't Swear" written across the top. Underneath is a depiction of the My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic character Pinkie Pie telling Rainbow Dash, "What the heck Rainbow Dash don't swear," as Rainbow Dash swears, his censored speech bubble crossed out in red. The post claimed that the poster was made for a poster design competition at their school.

The post was archived on Derpibooru^[2] that day, gaining nearly 100 upvotes in 13 years.

Spread

The poster became the subject of memes, including redraws and referential memes, in the 2020s.

On May 3rd, 2022, X^[3] user @swirlseypop posted a meme based on the poster, garnering over 9,300 likes and 1,500 reposts in four years.

On June 2nd, 2024, Redditor shneezuz720 posted a badly drawn recreation of the meme, where Rainbow Dash is shown saying the word "penis," to the /r/MyLittleMemes^[4] subreddit, garnering over 250 upvotes in two years.

On January 12th, 2026, Instagram^[5] user ghostiiiy posted a version of the meme depicting the scene with Devil May Cry characters, gaining over 5,400 likes in five months.

Don't Say Bad Words Kiddo

On June 22nd, 2026, X^[6] user @Onipensai posted a meme inspired by the "Rainbow Dash" memes showing a character telling Bluey, "Don't swear kiddo," and Bluey saying, "puta," garnering over 60,000 likes in four days. Many commenters made references to streamer Chibidoki, who is associated with the word "puta."

The post inspired numerous redraws, many of which feature depictions of VTubers. For example, on June 24th, X^[7] user @yoclesh posted a redraw of the meme with the VTuber Yoclesh, garnering over 4,000 likes in two days.
