About

twomad was a Canadian YouTuber and streamer who is known for his gaming meme montages, commentary videos and other various streaming content. He created the Goodnight, Girl, I'll See You Tomorrow meme, re-popularized the Baba Booey sound effect, and helped to facilitate the rise of 21st-Century Humor videos with his YLYL (You Laugh You Lose) livestreams. In February 2024, Twomad was found dead at his home in a suspected drug overdose. Twomad's death generated mass discourse and memes.

Online History

Twomad created his first YouTube[1] channel, twomad 360, on April 2nd, 2016. It later become the channel he uses for streaming. As of October 2021, it has over 2.3 million subscribers and 240 million total views. His main YouTube[2] channel, twomad, was created on August 21st, 2017 and has more than 2.2 million subscribers and 190 million total views. In June 2016, twomad created his Twitter[3] account @twomad. It has over 840,000 followers. On Reddit,[4] the subreddit /r/twomad was created on January 4th, 2017 and has more than 30,000 members. Twomad's Facebook[5] page was created on October 22, 2018.

Gaming Meme Montages

On September 18th, 2016 Twomad's uploaded his first video[6] to YouTube, an Overwatch parody that referenced a Dragon Ball video[7] called "Stereo Saiyan 3D" (shown below, left). It received over 427,000 views, 12,000 likes and 420 comments. On October 4th, 2016, he posted his second YouTube[8] video, an Overwatch gaming meme montage (shown below, right). It gained over 700,000 views, 16,000 likes and 200 comments.



Twomad continued to upload gaming content and meme montages before uploading one of his most popular videos, "Nerf Lucio," to YouTube[9] on May 4th, 2017 (shown below). In four years, the gaming meme montage gained over eight million views.



Twitch Streaming and Ban

Twomad began streaming to Twitch[10] on March 26th, 2017. After garnering nearly one million followers on his channel, he was temporarily banned numerous times on the platform before receiving a permanent ban on April 23rd, 2019. He addressed the ban on Twitter[11] later that day (shown below). According to streamer news site Dexerto,[12] "Exactly why he got banned is still unknown but several users on Twitter thought it could be because twomad went onto video chat site Omegle while streaming." After his ban, twomad shifted his streams over to his YouTube channel, twomad 360.



Zoombombing

During the coronavirus pandemic when students participated in classes via Zoom video calls, twomad was included in a BBC segment on Zoombombing, which he later discussed in a video. On April 11th, 2020, he uploaded the clip to his YouTube[13] channel (shown below), receiving over 5 million views, 300,000 likes and 16,000 comments.



K-pop Stan Feud

Goodnight, Girl, I'll See You Tomorrow

Goodnight, Girl, I'll See You Tomorrow refers to a viral video of twomad talking to a camera and falling (shown below). The footage gained popularity in edits on Instagram after being featured by twomad in one of his compilation videos.



Baba Booey and 21st Century Humor Videos

On March 2nd, 2020, twomad[14] began using the Baba Booey sound effect from The Howard Stern Show as a bleep censor in his YouTube videos to avoid demonetization (shown below, left). After twomad began his YLYL challenge livestreams, the noise was used in numerous 21st century humor videos (shown below, right).

Twomad was born on December 17th, 2000 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. His real name is unknown.
