On April 3rd, 2019, 8 unlikely strangers met up in an NYC park for a fashion meetup organized on 4Chan's fashion board /fa/. With nothing in common but their eccentric styles, they all awkwardly gathered close for a group picture while a group member set his camera up to take a remote picture. The pictures were posted the same day by a street photographer who revealed themselves as "Schiolense" The resulting image was relentlessly photoshopped and parodied across Reddit, 4Chan, Twitter, and Instagram.
When Anthony Fantano (@theneedledrop) reposted this image on his twitter account, it resurged in viral attention, as his fanbase assigned band names to the members.
