Adult Swim Soyjak Cartoon refers to a hoax news headline announcing that Adult Swim, after losing syndication rights for Family Guy, will fill the timeslot with a Soyjak adult cartoon series. The fake headline appears to have first been uploaded to 4chan, spreading across the Internet over the course of mid-October. There is no Soyjak cartoon in production.

Origin

On October 13th, 2021, an anonymous user of 4chan's^[1] Comics & Cartoons (/co/) board posted, "Thoughts on the current state of adult animation?" along with a fake news headline announcing that Adult Swim sold the syndication rights for Family Guy to FX and would fill the timeslot with an adult Soyjak cartoon based on the meme. The screenshot includes an image of many Soyjaks together and the first paragraph of the fictional article, describing the series as a "surrealist, irreverent slow-burn comedy" (shown below).

Spread

On October 13th, Twitter^[2] user @Malthius4 posted the image, gaining over 280 likes and 40 retweets in two days. On the same day, Twitter^[3] user @ShareMyMemesPls replied to the post with a photoshop adding the two Soyjaks pointing over the headline, gaining over 180 likes in a comparable span of time (shown below). On the same day, Instagram^[5] page wojakarchive posted the meme, gaining over 7,000 likes in a day.

Instagram^[6] user bwap_2 posted a version of the headline with a tweet photoshop on top reading "You wait long enough and it becomes clear that all culture is downstream from reactionary incels," gaining over 1,500 likes in two days (shown below). On October 14th, Twitter^[4] user @JohnSwanYT posted the fake headline and said "What is happening," gaining over 820 likes and 60 retweets in a day.
