About
Am I Really Going To Defile This Grave For Money? Of Course I Am! is an exploitable meme template taken from SpongBbob SquarePants. The meme depicts Mr. Krabs supposedly hesitating on "defiling a grave" for profit before instantly deciding he'll do it. The template is often used to poke fun at companies that try to revive long-dead franchises, usually through means outside the franchise's original spirit.
Origin
The template comes from the SpongeBob SquarePants episode "One Krab's Trash," which first aired on February 22nd, 2002.[1] In the scene, Mr. Krabs goes to Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen's grave to retrieve a hat that Spongebob returned to the grave after learning of the hat's monetary value.
The earliest known usage of the scene as an exploitable meme is by Darth__Vader on Memedroid, which was posted on November 26th, 2017.[2] The image (shown below) is captioned, "Finding burial urns full of gold coins," with Mr. Krabs wearing the Dragonborn's helmet from The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim.
