Amirite is a portmanteau of the words "am I right?", which is typically used online as a tongue-in-cheek way of seeking approval or recognition for a cheesy joke or statement.

On December 7th, 2003, the domain for the site amirite.com was registered, which allows users can submit various opinions and vote on their accuracy (shown below).
On February 24th, 2004, the first Urban Dictionary[1] entry for the term was submitted (shown below).
On March 21st, 2011 an entry for "Am I Right?" was submitted to TV Tropes,[4] which lists "Amirite" as an alternate title for the entry. On April 16th, an entry for the term was submitted to Encyclopedia Dramatica.[2] On October 6th, 2011, YouTuber thankscomputer uploaded a video titled "Amirite?", in which a young man throws food on a woman singing karaoke and says "am I right?" (shown below).
On March 14th, 2012, the PronunciationDigest YouTube channel uploaded a video titled "How to Pronounce Amirite," in which a voice can be heard chuckling after saying "am I right?" (shown below).
Bad Joke Eel
Bad Joke Eel is an advice animal image macro series featuring a close-up photograph of a Moray eel with various captions delivering unfunny puns and jokes, very similar to Lame Pun Coon. Many variations of the image macro have used "Amirite" in the captioned text.
