Aphantasia is the inability to voluntarily create mental images in one's mind, meaning that a person is unable to visualize objects in their "mind's eye." First becoming a subject of viral discussions on 4chan in September 2018 in connection to the NPC meme, the phenomenon has gone viral on social media multiple times since, spawning memes and discussions.
