Biden x Trump Shipping refers to memes, art and jokes that ironically "ship" or wish for a romance between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. Memes shipping the two political rivals began gaining traction ahead of the 2024 Presidential Election and saw a rise in virality after news emerged that Biden had called Trump after the failed assassination attempt at a Republican rally in July 2024. Fanfiction and fan art depicting Biden and Trump in love also began making the rounds soon after.
Origin
Stories shipping Joe Biden with Donald Trump have been viewed and shared on Wattpad since October 2020 when the two politicians last butted heads in the 2020 Presidential Election.
Wattpad users @crodie_b,[1] @jjclovegood[2] and @Stikck[3] posted Biden x Trump fanfiction in October and November 2020, gathering over 38,000, 25,000 and 14,000 views, respectively, in roughly four years (seen below).

Memes shipping Joe Biden and Donald Trump began to gain significant traction online in the days following the failed assassination attempt on Trump at a July 13th, 2024, rally in Pennsylvania.
For example, on July 13th, X[4] user @TouGotStrangeld posted a video showing Biden in tears upon learning about Trump being shot. The video used audio from the webseries Helluva Boss in which the character Bitzo says, "He can get hurt?" The post gathered over 4,000 likes in two days (seen below).

Also on July 13th, 2024, X[5] user @cyverx3 posted a Biden x Trump shipping video, gathering over 50,000 likes in two days (seen below).

On July 14th, TikToker[6] @iguanacheese posted a Biden x Trump fancam edit that gathered over 3 million plays and 900,000 likes in a day (seen below, left). A similar video by TikToker @satosuguenthusiast[7] posted on July 15th gathered over 500,000 plays and 90,000 likes in a day (seen below, right).
