Blinding Lights Challenge is a TikTok dance challenge set to the 2020 song "Blinding Lights" by The Weeknd.[2] The trend, which became popular in March 2020, typically involves three people dancing in a line to a set of choreographed moves involving a lot of jumping.

Origin

On March 3rd, 2020, TikToker @gregdahl7 uploaded a video of three people doing a choreographed dance to The Weeknd's "Blinding Lights" with the caption, "We got bored🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️" (shown below). The video gained over 394,600 likes in 21 days.

On March 17th, 2020, TikToker @bwarrrr uploaded another video of three people doing the same dance which garnered over 2.9 million likes in a week. That same day, Twitter user @TaylorLorenz[1] uploaded their video with the caption, "My last 3 brain cells in quarantine" which received over 2,600 likes and 350 retweets in a week. On March 22nd, TikToker and YouTuber @daviddobrik posted a "Blinding Lights Challenge" video which accumulated over 2.2 million likes in two days (shown below, center). On March 24th, TikToker family @the.mcfarlands uploaded another dance video that received over 702,300 likes that day (shown below, right).
