Buffsuki

About

Buffsuki is the name of a fanart/fan edit rendition of the character Natsuki from the visual novel Doki Doki Literature Club with an extremely muscular body. Her body is based off of a piece of Kingdom Hearts Fanart known as Buff Riku.

Origin

On October 25th, 2017, Twitter user @Asko_V^[5] uploaded an edit of Buffsuki, gaining 94 retweets and 164 likes (shown below).

Spread

On October 29th, 2017, Twitter user @desperosolace^[1] posted a Buffsuki edit on October 29th 2017 (shown below). The drawing gained 36 retweets and over 120 likes. The finished image was later posted on @desperosolace^[2] Twitter feed on November 6th (shown below, right).

Around this time, other edits of the character began appearing. For example, on November 3rd, Tumblr user aku-no-homu^[3] uploaded an edit that gained over 3,200 notes (shown below, left). The finished image has been used in various photoshops, as well as receiving fan art of the image itself. For example, on December 11th, Redditor MrMutlu^[4] uploaded an edit to the /r/DDLC subreddit that gained over 360 upvotes (shown below, right).

Other popular edits of the character include an Ideal GF edit posted to /r/DDLC on November 16th^[6] which gained over 230 upvotes (shown below, left) and a photoshop posted December 17th^[7] of Buff Natsuki visiting a McDonald's labeled "GYM" which gained 416 upvotes (shown below, right).

On November 7th, 2017, YouTuber Xue posted a parody of the character which gained over 287,000 views (shown below).

A common joke associated with the character is a Pewdiepie quote, "Square Up Thot." Several images have been created with the phrase, including a mural drawn by artist Lushux. On December 23rd, they tweeted to Pewdiepie a video of his mural of Buffsuki saying "Square Up Thot," gaining 770 retweets and 3,500 likes (shown below).
