The Bugs Bunny Challenge or Bugs Bunny Trend is a participatory challenge on TikTok set to the song "Gucci" by Timati in which you lie on your stomach then raise your feet above your head, positioning them like bunny ears and moving them as the lyrics "Bugs Bunny" are sung. Additionally, some users raise their butt into the air following this. The trend began in early March 2021.

Origin

On May 22nd, 2018, Russian musician Timati released the song and music video for "Gucci" to YouTube, garnering over 84 million views in three years (shown below).

On August 5th, 2020, Russian TikToker[1] @gerda.doberman posted a video of her dog set to the song, garnering over 24 million views in nine months. On March 4th, TikTokers[2][3] @AnyaIschuk and @egorkreed posted videos set to the sound in which they lie on their stomachs while filming themselves from a selfie view, then lift their feet above their heads to look like rabbit ears (shown below, left and right respectively). The videos went viral, gaining over 2.9 million likes and 1.1 million likes in two months. It's unknown who first started the challenge.

The sound for @gerda.doberman's video went viral along with the trend, resulting in over 446,000 videos using it in nine months (examples shown below, left and right). On March 8th, Distractify[6] published an article describing the trend.

Compilations and reuploads of the videos have also found significant success on YouTube. On March 9th, 2021, YouTuber[5] Salsa Sauce uploaded a compilation, garnering over 1.2 million views in two months (shown below, left).

On March 25th, Facebook[4] page Plaasnaar TV posted a compilation of the trend, garnering over 12,000 reactions and 2,700 shares in a month. On April 22nd, YouTuber[4] Trend N Dance posted a video of a TikToker performing the trend, garnering over 1.6 million views in two weeks.
