About
Cara Pensando No Ônibus, also known as Guy Thinking On The Bus, is an exploitable image macro created by Sako Asko's Illustration depicting a man thinking about food on a bus, then work while eating, then sleeping while working and finally the bus or commute while in bed. The webcomic strip started to be edited to create memes around January 2017, being shared mostly on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
Origin
On January 17th, 2017, Colombian artist sakoasko[1] uploaded a strip on his Instagram page showcasing a worker lost in his needs, always wanting and worrying about what will come next. The post (shown below) amassed over 1,079 likes in six years.
Spread
The strip became a prominent image macro template around 2019, with the images of the original drawing being replaced by overlay texts or other figures. For example, on August 8th, 2019, the Facebook[2] meme page @menesdeesquerda posted a version of the image featuring a picture of former Brazil president Jair Bolsonaro (shown below, left), which garnered over 680 likes and 100 shares in four years.
On October 25th, 2021, the Twitter[3] page @MeuTimao posted a version of the image with a football game score overlayed in the speech bubbles. The post (shown below, right) received over 5,500 likes and 830 retweets in two years.
