CaseOh Showing Trans Pride Flag Mug is a redraw meme template based on an image of Twitch streamer CaseOh holding a mug to the camera with an image of his own face over a transgender pride flag printed on it. The clip comes from a January 2024 stream that went viral over in subsequent months. In May 2024, an X / Twitter user then uploaded a screenshot of CaseOh holding the mug, asking users to redraw it with their comfort characters, inspiring redraws over the following days.
Origin
On January 25th, 2024, a Twitch stream VOD was uploaded to the official CaseOh YouTube[1] channel titled "Opening Fan Mail 😵" in which CaseOh opens fan mail. Around the 08:48 timestamp, CaseOh opens and shows off a mug with his name printed on one side and an image of his face over a trans pride flag on the other side (shown below). The video gained over 1.5 million views in four months.
Spread
The clip gained viral spread over the following months. For example, on January 31st, 2024, it was uploaded by TikToker[2] @caseoh_daily, garnering over 200,000 views in four months.
On May 10th, 2024, X[3] user @H3LL000_BR34D posted a screenshot of CaseOh holding the mug to the camera, writing, "We should draw our comfort characters like this," garnering over 103,000 likes and 11,000 reposts in three days (shown below).
The format became increasingly popularized on X and Tumblr[4][5] over the following days. For example, on May 12th, X[6] user @kiimmyko posted a Sonic the Hedgehog redraw that gained over 6,400 likes in a day (shown below, left).
Later that day, X[7] user @_kaijukrew_ posted a Godzilla redraw that gained over 18,000 likes in a day (shown below, right).
