About

Caught You In 4K, also known as These Niggas Ain't Gone Believe This, refers to a reaction image showing a Black man holding a digital camera from the Adult Swim animated series The Boondocks. The still image surfaced online on Imgflip in January 2021, paired with the text caught you in 4K," and later in 2024 gained viral usage as a reaction meme on X / Twitter under a new catchphrase, usually shared in content that users judge as absurd or unbelievable.

Origin

On October 15th, 2007, the episode "Tom, Sarah and Usher" from the Adult Swim series, The Boondocks aired on TV.[1] In a particular scene, a waiter takes a picture of Sarah with the singer Usher (seen below).



On January 31st, 2021, Imgflip[2] user @Jx3 posted a still image of the scene, adding the text, "Caught you in 4K," which amassed more than 20,000 views in four years.

The still image of the waiter holding a digital camera grew as a reaction meme on X / Twitter, Reddit and Instagram over the next few years. For instance, on August 25th, 2024, X[3] user @Health00810 reacted to a post about a Detroit man "charged by the Feds after going live on social media with a glock," which amassed more than 144,000 views and 2,600 likes in six months.

On January 23rd, 2025, Instagram[4] user @overdosekenjii posted a screenshot of a tweet using the caught you in 4K meme paired with the text, "go ahead and unlock the phone let we see them deleted messages." The post (seen below) received roughly 155,000 likes in two weeks.
