The video was posted online in April 2023 and became the subject of memes over the following months.

Origin

On April 12th, 2023, TikToker^[1] @frumpybroom115 posted a video of himself looking at his phone with a disappointed look on his face then lip dubbing to an audio calling someone a piece of shit under the caption, "Me when I found out what jaidenanimation said about religion," garnering over 1.8 million views in two years. The video references a controversy with content creator Jaiden Animations after she made a joke criticizing Christianity, implying that God hid in heaven "like a little bitch."^[2]

On April 19th, u/wooper-de-doo posted a screenshot of the video to /r/196,^[3] garnering over 2,000 upvotes in the same span of time. This is the earliest known account to post the screenshot.

Spread

The screenshot garnered viral spread over the following months as a reaction image and the subject of memes. On June 21st, 2024, u/CATALIN-007 posted a redraw of the meme to /r/PizzaTower^[4] that gained over 460 upvotes in nine months.

On January 24th, 2025, u/The_eldritch_horror2 made a post to /r/ChangedFurry^[5] sharing a tweet by a user expressing concern over their 10-year-old sister having a Puro^[6] profile picture, followed by the meme as a reaction, garnering over 1,800 upvotes in two months.

On March 18th, X^[7] user @jadeladeljadel posted the original meme, writing, "this is still the stupidest screenshot ever why is he in full peppino cosplay," garnering over 116,000 likes and 5,900 reposts in six days. It was reposted by Instagram^[8] user nermalicious2 that day, garnering over 1,700 likes in six days.

That same day, X^[9] user @DOGWITHGUNXBOX posted an edit of the meme as a comment under @jadeladeljadel's post, in which they've altered the caption to reference Pizza Tower, garnering over 7,000 likes in six days. On March 19th, u/No-Rule-9129 posted the original meme to /r/PeterExplainsTheJoke,^[10] garnering over 2,600 upvotes in five days.

On March 20th, X^[11] user @countdownforsaw posted the original reaction meme as a response to a Dan Hentschel tweet in which he dresses like the devil, garnering over 1,400 likes in four days.
