Circlejerk Subreddits are communities on the website Reddit that are openly dedicated to mock circlejerking about a particular topic. It usually refers to a community that explicitly only promotes a single viewpoint or opinion on a topic, or one that parodies a more mainstream subreddit or other commonly held opinions. It can also indicate a community dedicated to memes and shitposts rather than serious discussion. Circlejerk subreddits are often an extension of an already-existing major subreddit, named by appending the word "circlejerk" to the original subreddit's name.

r/Gamingcirclejerk

r/Gamingcirclejerk is a subreddit dedicated to video games and gaming culture. Created on April 6th, 2011, it has 473,000 members as of June 2021, making it by far the biggest and most active circlejerk community on Reddit. Topically, the community is focused on parodying and mocking tropes and memes in gaming communities and culture; examples include sexualization of women, EA being an evil company and Todd Howard marketing Skyrim. The following examples were posted on June 11th, 2021 and February 8th, 2021, gaining 13,900 and 12,300 points respectively.

Further, they support inclusivity and diversity in video games, particularly that of women and LGBTQ people. They regard complaints about "politics" in gaming as being just an excuse for misogyny and bigotry. They defended The Last of Us Part II and mocked the controversy surrounding Aloy's appearance. The following examples were posted on May 10th, 2021 and May 31st, 2021, gaining 20,200 and 5,800 points respectively.

r/moviescirclejerk

r/moviescirclejerk is a subreddit dedicated to movies and the film fans' community. Created on January 24th, 2012, it has 167,000 members as of June 2021. Topically, the community is, much like r/Gamingcirclejerk, focused on parodying and mocking the rhetorics and opinions of the mainstream film community, especially the fandoms of Tenet, Joker and its meme derivatives, the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Snyder Cut of Justice League. They frequently regard the film community as elitist, overly focused on uniqueness, and obsessed with finding artistic meaning even if there is none. The following examples were posted on May 26th, 2020 and July 2021, gaining 7,500 and 6,300 points respectively.

Paddington photoshopping

A popular trope on r/moviescirclejerk is a post series by Reddit user u/JaytheChou, titled "I photoshop Paddington into another movie every day until I forget" wherein the anthropomorphic main character from the films Paddington and Paddington 2 is inserted into various film scenes. The series began on March 10th, 2021 and is still ongoing as on June 2021. The following examples were posted on April 17th, 2021 and April 6th, 2021, gaining 4,900 and 5,500 points respectively.

r/circlejerk

r/circlejerk is a community for general-purpose parodying of commonly repeated rhetoric and arguments, especially across Reddit itself. It is the oldest circlejerk subreddit by several years, being created on December 10th, 2008. The following are some miscellaneous examples.
