"Communist Detected on American Soil" is a memorable quote uttered by the character Liberty Prime in the 2008 video game Fallout 3. Online, people use an image as a reaction for jokes about communism.
Origin
On October 28th, 2008, the video game Fallout 3 was released in the United States.[1] In the video game, the robot character Liberty Prime says, "Communist detected on American soil" (clip below).
On June 4th, 2018, Redditor [2] Skeraxis posted the earliest known version of the phrase in a captioned image macro. The post received more than 15,000 points (95% upvoted) and 170 comments in less than two years (shown below).

Later that day, Redditor[3] WilleBweendeuh shared a variation of the meme with the caption, "When you spot some kindergartners sharing a box of crayons." The post received more than 2,300 points (97% upvoted) in less than two years (shown below, left).
The format inspired other variations. On September 25th, Redditor[4] MercurySmoothie posted a Moth Lamp version of the meme, which received more tahn 727 points (93% upvoted) in less than two years (shown below, center).
On July 24th,2019 Redditor[5] VAPORWAVE_2 shared a version in which the caption reads, "When you catch your little brother saying 'sharing is caring' to his kindergarten friend." The post received more than 22,000 points (94% upvoted) in less than one year (shown below, right).
