Origin
On February 12th, 2020, @garlicfather tweeted,[1] "Damn, you thick as hell, what are your pronouns" garnering over 86,600 likes and 21,000 retweets in just under a year. Although not the same phrasing as the viral DMs, the format is nearly identical and gained significant interaction, possibly inspiring the "Damn Ya Ass Fat" DM.
On June 26th, 2020, @replyguys_txt tweeted[2] a screenshot from an anonymous person's DMs consisting of two back-to-back messages reading, "Damn ya ass fat," and, "What's ya pronouns?" garnering over 142,000 likes and 19,100 retweets in 7 months (shown below). Many users in the comments praised the screenshot, calling the sender of the DMs a "king" and appreciating his respectfulness as a reply guy.
Spread
The "Damn Ya Ass Fat" DMs spread across social media through various high-interaction reposts.[3][4][8] The phrase soon took off on its own, referenced on sites like Twitter where relevant (examples shown below).
On July 8th, /u//cool-bugfacts posted a Cool Bug Facts meme referencing the DMs to /r/CoolBugFacts, garnering over 1,700 upvotes in 5 months (shown below).
On September 26th, producer Christopher Miller, the voice of JFK in the television series Clone High, read the "Damn Ya Ass Fat" Dms in JFK's voice and posted it to Twitter,[5] garnering over 2,600 likes and 1,200 retweets in 4 months (shown below).

On October 19th, u/Untalented-Show posted[9] a meme referencing the DMs and CallMeCarson to /r/CallMeCarson, garnering over 5,600 upvotes in 3 months (shown below, left).
On October 19th, On November 25th, Lit Memes posted a meme referencing the DMs to Facebook,[6] garnering over 115 reactions in 2 months (shown below, right). The image was reposted to Facebook page Eric's Creamy Memes,[7] garnering over 2,100 reactions and 2,000 shares.
