#DisabledSnark is hashtag used on Twitter to be paired with expressed instances of snark being used by disabled people after being asked a prying question.

Origin

On April 13th, 2019, Twitter user @belovedbless^[1] tweeted, "I think we will should have a new hashtag called #DisabledSnark" (shown below, left) and then tweeted later that day "🚨 Disabled people, what is the snarkiest thing you have ever said to an ablelist person? Hastag it #DisabledSnark and RT. We could all use good comebacks!🚨" (shown below, right). The tweet gained over 130 retweets and 300 likes in three days.

Spread

On April 13th, 2019, Twitter user @criprights^[2] responsed with a tweet saying, "Every strange man who comes up to me, apropos of nothing, and says 'why are you in a wheelchair' gets asked if they are circumcised. Because I figure we're clearly at that stage in our relationship where we can trade private medical details #DisabledSnark" (shown below, left). The tweet garnered 400 likes in three days. Many more Twitter users responded over the next few days with their own stories. On April 14th, @TeviTweets^[3] wrote out a dialogue they had had with a hearing person who asked if they could read lips (shown below, right). the tweet gained 419 likes in two days.
