About

"Do You See This Shit?" is an exploitable screencap from the 1967 Spider-Man cartoon series. The scene became an exploitable template in the 2010s, as memers added different characters to the scene and added the caption, "Do you see this shit, X?"

Origin

The screencap originated from the second part of the first episode of the 1967 Spider-Man cartoon titled "Sub-Zero for Spidey," which first aired on September 9th, 1967.[1] The scene involves Spider-Man trying to find the ice creature that had attacked Dr. Smartyr, and then finds the culprit not long after climbing up a building and looking down from its rooftop.

A screencap of Spider-Man looking down from the rooftop was created when the series was released on DVD in 2004.

Spread

The earliest known use of the meme was on MLPForums, in a thread titled "Spiderman and Batman picture captions ONLY [Bad Language]". On January 27th, 2012, MLPForums user D1SC0RD posted the screencap, but added My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic character Applejack looking down from the rooftop with Spider-Man along with the caption "do you see this shit applejack?".[2]
