Dude With Sign is an image series of a man holding up a cardboard sign calling for people to stop doing specific everyday annoying things. The photo series, which began on Instagram in October 2019 sparked various parodies, edits and parody accounts on Instagram and Reddit.

Origin

On October 3rd, 2019, The Instagram account @DudeWithSign^[1] posted their first image of the man holding up a sign which read "Stop 'Replying-All' to Company Wide Emails" (shown below). The post gained over 153,200 likes in four months. The Instagram account accumulated over 5.4 million followers in four months.

Spread

On December 15th, 2019, Redditor iabzeet reposted a DudeWithSign post with adding the caption "This dude for president 2020" to r/pics^[3] (shown below, left). The post garnered over 50,000 points (85% upvoted) in two months. On December 22nd, Redditor techyolofam reposted a DudeWithSign post to r/memes^[4] which received 227 points (99% upvoted) in two months (shown below, right).

On December 23rd, 2019, Redditor EpicGains posted a video of the man to r/humansbeingbros with the caption "Dudewithsign handing out $20 bills to everyone he finds for the Christmas spirit" (shown below). The video gained over 250 points (97% upvoted).

On January 10th, 2020, Redditor air_volek07 posted an edited DudeWithSign picture to r/nflmemes^[5] and received over 380 points (98% upvoted) (shown below, left). On January 29th, DudeWithSign started a Facebook^[2] page and has gained over 11,600 followers in a month. On February 4th, Redditor ajayshinde74 posted a DudeWithSign parody to r/India^[6] and garnered 500 points (96% upvoted) in two months (shown below, right).

On February 18th, DogWithSign^[7] parody account uploaded a picture of a dog with a sign which reads "All Dogs Are Good Dogs" which accumulated over 22,700 likes in a week (shown below). Forbes^[8] and BoredPanda^[9] both published articles on the DudeWithSign account.
