Early 2000s Makeover is a series of TikTok videos in which users apply makeup popular in the early 2000s and show off typical clothes from the period to the tune of "Oops!…I Did It Again" by Britney Spears.

Origin

On July 15th, 2019, TikTok user @chaseevers_ uploaded the first early 2000s makeover (shown below). The TikToker applies blue eyeshadow, lip gloss and puts butterfly hair clips in her hair. The video gained over 589,700 likes and 23,500 shares in a 11 days.

Spread

On July 19th, 2019, @rosathetiktokqueen uploaded their own variation on the early 2000s look. The video gained over 319,700 likes and 10,400 shares. Many comments either confirmed or disputed the accuracy of each makeover. Many people claimed butterfly clips became popular in the 90s and winged eye-liner became popular later. On July 22nd 2019, @vityusikk gained over 106,200 likes in three days for his variation while, two days later, @tracytracer's video gained over 279,700 likes in a day (shown below, right).
