About
Eeveelution Chart, also known as Eevee Evolution Chart Parodies, is an exploitable image macro meme format that uses the Pokemon Eevee and the different evolutions it has as a way to show various offshoots of the same singular beginning in meme form. The meme format often uses official Pokemon material in the form of a chart made to best show the full line-up of evolutions possible using an Eevee, often with custom text captions under each image.
Origin
The current iteration of the Eevee chart was first made back in 2013 as part of the lead-up to Pokemon X and Y, which is when Fairy-types were first added to the game. The new Eeveelution, named Sylveon, was added to the chart as speculation grew about trying to figure out what type it is. On February 14th, 2013, Twitter user @nick_mauricio95[1] was one of the first to upload the new Eeveelution chart online, while incorrectly guessing that it meant Sylveon would be a Flying-type (shown below).
On May 30th, 2019, the Twitter account @haitiantonys_95[2] uploaded a picture in which he claims he found a Billie Eilish Eeveelution chart, which had Billie in the middle as the normal type, and various other famous girls with different colored hair to match the Eeveelutions were added on the sides (shown below).
Spread
On June 23rd, 2019, Twitter[4] user @kiriyaaoi posted a version using the Eeveelution chart as a meme template with the character Seiji from the card-based mobile game THE iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls, receiving over 30 likes and 20 retweets in three years (shown below).
The Eevee evolution chart parodies remained sparse after 2019 before starting to pick up steam in mid-2022 again with different variations of the chart coming out in a short time. One of the highest engagement examples of these charts was tweeted by @andykreed[3] on September 18th, 2022, and features the middle Eevee as a "Tech Worker" while all the surrounding Eeveelutions were the various hobbies that tech workers often have, making the Eeveelution chart work more like a mix between stereotype and starter packs, and earning over 15,300 likes in three days (shown below).
