Billie Eilish (full name Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O'Connell) is an American singer-songwriter best known for her singles "Ocean Eyes", "idontwannabeyouanymore" and "Lovely", with five of her songs certified Gold and Platinum. In memes, Eilish is sometimes mocked for her affinity for oversized clothing, while her appearances on Genius 'Verified' series have seen use in meme remixes.
Online History
Billie Eilish's breakthrough single, "Ocean Eyes", was written by her older brother for his band in October 2015.[1] The song, performed by Eilish, was posted to Soundcloud on November 19th, 2015, as a submission for her dance instructor.[2] The composition was quickly discovered by the Soundcloud community and became a hit, since gathering over 14.2 million streams on the website.
On March 24th, 2016, Eilish posted a music video for the song, which gained over 80 million views on YouTube in three years. On November 22nd, 2016, a dance video for the song followed, gaining an additional 17.2 million views in two and a half years.
On August 11th, 2017, Billies Eilish released her debut 8-song EP Don't Smile At Me which included her previously released singles "Ocean Eyes", "Bellyache", "Bored" and others.[3]
As of February 22nd, 2019, Eilish has five RIAA-rated singles,[1] including Platinum-rated "Ocean Eyes" and Gold-rated "Bellyache", "Idontwannabeyouanymore", "Lovely" and "Copycat", and one Gold-certified EP. Her debut album, titled When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, was released on March 29, 2019, with singles "You Should See Me in a Crown", "When the Party's Over" and "Bury a Friend" released in 2018 and 2019.
Through her music career, Billie Eilish gave interviews to a number of music magazines and mainstream media, including interviews with BBC[4], NME[5][6] and Vanity Fair[7].
On May 4th, 2019, Billie Eilish's official Instagram account transitioned from @wherearetheavocados to @billieeilish.[12]

Through her career, Billie Eilish made several appearances on Genius 'Verified' series, explaining the lyrics of her songs and performing them.
The videos gained popularity in Instagram community as a source for edits and remixes, with multiple notable examples created by users @succulentbeans[10] and @cursededits4u[11]. On January 12th, 2019, YouTube channel Your Internetional Meme Dealer posted a compilation of such edits.
Jah, I'm Serious
Jah, I'm Serious refers to a multi-panel image depicting an interaction between musician Billie Eilish and late rapper XXXTentacion, in which Eilish says "I'm Hungry" and XXXTentacion responds with a dad joke. Starting in February 2019, the image and its cropped version were circulated as exploitables.
"Bad Guy"
Bad Guy is a song by Billie Eilish, released on March 29th, 2019, together with her debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?. Following the release of the song, it has been parodied and remixed online, while the music video saw a significant spread in edits on Instagram starting in late April 2019.
Elon Musk Tweet
On February 25th, 2019, Redditor rabidspleen uploaded a picture to r/dankmemes[14] of Billie Eilish, young Elon Musk and an air conditioning pair coil featuring a version of Albers Einstein copypasta reading, "One day, Billie Eilish was walking outside and she saw a boy crying. She said to him 'Here kid, have a roll of Air Conditioning Pair Coil 1/4' x 3/8' 410A 20m Polyethylene UV protected insulated Copper heat resistant to 120C. You're destined to do great things That boy was Elon Musk" (shown below, left). The post gained over 73,400 points (84% upvoted) in three months. On May 16th, Elon Musk[13] tweeted the image saying "And I am forever grateful" (shown below, right). His tweet accumulated over 504,000 likes and 92,200 retweets in a day.
Nylon Germany Cover
In Late August 2019, Nylon Magazine in Germany posted an image of the the next issues cover to Instagram (shown below, left) which has since been deleted. Billie Eilish then commented on the post criticizing the publication for depicting her hairless and shirtless as she is only 17, noting the image is not a real photo of her. (shown below, center). Nylon then issued an explanation of the image without including an apology (shown below, right). Eilish's fans continued post negative comments until the post was deleted according to The Daily Mail.[15]
Personal Life
Billie Eilish was born on December 18th, 2001 in Los Angeles California in a family of actors and musicians Maggie Baird and Patrick O'Connell. She has an older brother Finneas, who wrote her breakthrough single "Ocean Eyes" and several other compositions, including "You Should See Me in a Crown".
Eilish was homeschooled, and joined the Los Angeles Children's Chorus at age eight. At age 11, she began writing and singing her own songs.
