Ethical Cain Vinnel, also spelled Ethical Caine Vinyl, is a comment trend and TikTok sound that parodies the name and aesthetics of indie singer Ethel Cain. The catchphrase first went viral due to a screen recording of a person reading a comment on their TikTok live that said, "Are you wearing that sweater in an ethical cain vinyl way or a republican way."

Ethel Cain is an American singer-songwriter known for her ambient, alternative rock and folk music that touches on Christianity, American nationalism and nostalgic Southern Gothic themes. On March 22, 2023, TikToker[1] @strawb3rryfields4ever posted a video of them asking another TikToker if they were "wearing that sweater in an ethical cain vinyl way or a republican way." The post gathered over 2.4 million views and 360,000 likes in a week (seen below).
