Overview

Amouranth's Husband Abuse Allegations refers to the alleged abuse of Twitch streamer and content creator Amouranth (real name Kaitlyn Siragusa) by her husband (Nick Lee) that was originally revealed during a livestream on October 15th, 2022, during which she stated not only that she had a husband (previously unknown to her audience) but that he was purportedly controlling, manipulative, emotionally abusive and had threatened to kill her dogs and empty her bank accounts. The allegations also included that her husband told her to keep their marriage secret in order to appeal to fans, as well as pushing her to do more NSFW content for money such as OnlyFans. The stream was deleted shortly after Amouranth's upload but subsequently sparked widespread media coverage and discussions online, including an outpouring of support on social media from fans and fellow streamers.

Background

Amouranth, whose real name is Kaitlyn Siragusa, is a Twitch streamer based in Texas. As of October 2022, she had nearly 6 million followers on Twitch and over a million likes on her OnlyFans page. She initially began posting in 2016 with her content ranging from ASMR and "Just Chatting" streams to cosplay material and hot tub streams. In recent years, Amouranth's content has somewhat shifted towards more NSFW material.[7]

It was revealed in 2018 by YouTuber L OF THE DAY that Amouranth had a husband, based on publicly available information on Facebook.[8] She demanded the video be taken down and pushed back against those who were upset by the news, making fun of people who believe "Every female on the internet is eligible to be dated by people who see her."[9]

October 2022 Abuse Revelations

During an October 15th, 2022, livestream, Amouranth shared text conversations and a phone call with her husband, reportedly named Nick Lee,[11] as well as describing their relationship. She told her audience that her husband was allegedly abusive, controlling the logins to her bank accounts and social media. She then shared texts where he purportedly berated and harassed her, threatening to take her money and kill her dogs. Weeping on camera, Amouranth also shared that he instructed her to keep their relationship from subscribers and made her do more risqué and NSFW content In order to make more money.

While the original stream was deleted, clips of it circulated on Twitter and other websites, such as the thread from user GUARD Hunter[10] on October 16th that went viral shortly after, receiving over 164,000 likes and 22,000 retweets in less than 24 hours (shown below).

In the wake of the livestream's spread online, it was unclear how Amouranth was doing or if she was connected to help and support. Fellow streamer Alinity shared in an October 17th livestream that her attempts to contact Amouranth and learn about her status from the police had been inconclusive (YouTube reupload seen below).[1]

Police Visits And Aftermath

Amouranth started a stream on October 17th, ending a period of silence following the revelation of her husband's abuse.[12] During the video, she seemed stressed and tired, and shared that her husband was seeking help, Amouranth had access to all of her accounts and her dogs were alive and well. She was thankful for the help and support offered by people. She shared that she feared "it would be messy" but that keeping it hidden had also been messy. Her dog was featured in the stream (seen below).

According to reporting from Dexerto and the testimony of other streamers, Amouranth had been visited by the police several times and was alive and well.[13] She retweeted a take on the situation from @TheJuancho, summing up the drama of the past few days and her position on it (seen below).[14]

a Juan Arauz @TheJuancho Putting it simply: Amouranth needs help from her husband. Amouranth's husband is a p------------ for threatening her dogs & her livelihood. M----------- probably doesn't have to do a hard day's work thanks to her. Keemstar has BEEN a p------------. Online Reactions

As the stream spread over the following days, several other female streamers, influencers and internet-famous people more broadly rallied to Amouranth's support. For example, YouTube and Twitch streamer Valkyrie posted a tweet (seen below, left) on October 16th, 2022, earning almost 200,000 likes in a day.[2] Ethan Klein of h3h3 productions also sent his support (seen below, right) on October 16th, 2022, earning just over 57,000 likes in a similar timeframe.[3]

RAE @Valkyrae It's disgusting seeing the internet continue to invalidate and dehumanize victims of abuse. What Amouranth has been trapped in is very real.. especially having joint accounts, married, dealing with threats, etc. I hope she gets the freedom and relief any human in abuse deserves. 8:35 PM Oct 16, 2022 Twitter for iPhone : 11.7K Retweets 164 Quote Tweets 192K Likes Ethan Klein @h3h3productions Im scared & disturbed by whats happening to Amouranth. It seemed like she was winning at life & in total control. But she was, the whole time, living under tremendous abuse. Makes me wonder how many others are living outwardly normal lives but suffering so badly at home > 11:59 PM Oct 16, 2022 Twitter for iPhone . : 2,025 Retweets 106 Quote Tweets 57.2K Likes

Many of the expressions of support also took time to push back against a minority that had been upset over Amouranth's efforts to keep her private life private or claimed that the controversy might be staged. Numerous creators pushed back hard on these claims, including streamer PrismaticKitsune (BabyyKistunee) who posted on October 16th, earning over 70,000 likes in less than 24 hours.[4] That same day, Twitch streamer Jake Lucky (JakeSucky) then called out Keemstar for accusing Amouranth of "scamming" (seen below, right) earning 70,000 likes in a similar timeframe.[5] Keemstar went on to delete the thread against Amouranth according to later tweets from his account.[6]

LIVE NOW @ twitch.tv/Prismatic Kitsune @BabyyKitsunee : Amouranth has been careful about her personal life for years. Last night, revealed she was married to an abuser as he screamed down the phone & threatened her. This s--- ain't fake, it's a cry for help. If you are more offended she's married than being abused, get help. 11:36 AM . She showed the text. But KEEM @KEEMSTAR Amouranth herself has scammed so many guys online claiming she was single for years. These twitch streamers dont care about their viewers. They all just use you & your low IQs to fill their pockets. 8:27 AM - Oct 16, 2022. Twitter for iPhone 38 Retweets 110 Quote Tweets 1,418 Likes 1,464 4,210 67.6K

The mental gymnastics some people are going through to call this staged or deserved are disappointing, but not surprising. In what world does a woman with an OnlyFans revealing that she has not just a boyfriend, but a husband, constitute a "marketing stunt to get more money"..? Are you even listening to yourself..? She also stopped streaming ever since this happened, which is even more money not being earned as we speak. Under no circumstances will she end up getting more money from this than if she just kept streaming as usual, even accounting for a potential comeback stream with 500.000 views.

Just maybe, the husband is a sociopathic asshole. Not everything is an Alex Jones script.
