Overview

Charlotte Fosgate "It's a Pretty View" Tweet and Suicide refers to the May 2025 purported suicide of 17-year-old Charlotte Fosgate, known as @burntfishie on Twitter / X. On May 2nd, Fosgate tweeted a photo from a bridge at night, captioned, "It's a pretty view." Weeks later, close friends claimed that her body was found near the bridge, before an official statement from the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office in Oregon was released. Charlotte Fosgate was notably transgender (male to female) and in the fallout of her tweet and purported suicide, many transphobic X users flooded her "It's a pretty view" tweet with hateful comments and remarks. Notably, webcomic artist StoneToss posted a comic in the tweet's replies, which amassed viral backlash. Overall, numerous people expressed shock at the hateful comments, fueling discourse about some right-wing users lacking empathy and human decency, especially for LGBTQ+ people.
