Overview

Cyberpunk 2077 Glitches refers to the numerous technical bugs in CD Projekt Red's much-hyped open-world RPG game, Cyberpunk 2077. After the game's release, social media users noticed myriad technical issues with the game, particularly on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, leading to a severe backlash against the game as well as multiple humorous clips of the game's bugs being shared on social media.

Background

Cyberpunk 2077 released on December 10th, 2020. Talk of the game's numerous bugs followed soon after, including a glitch that caused players' custom character to have their penis hang out of their pants. Multiple other bugs were showcased on social media that day as well, particularly from the last-gen console versions of the game (examples shown below).

Developments

Conversation about the game's bugs and technical difficulties continued to dominate online discussion over the following week, prompting CD Projekt Red to offer refunds to last-gen console players just days after the game released, while promising major patches would fix the bugs in the following months.[1] Sony pulled the game from the PlayStation store[2] days later and offered refunds to all players who bought the title there.

Meanwhile, glitches continued to be shared on social media. On December 19th, Twitter user @ChronoKatie shared a glitch that gained over 138,000 likes and 19,000 retweets (shown below).

On December 20th, Redditor Szynite posted a glitch to /r/Cyberpunk that gained over 25,000 points (shown below).
