CD Projekt Red has apologized for the poor performance of Cyberpunk 2077 on last-gen consoles and is offering a refund.

If you've been on the internet the past week, you know that the launch of CD Projekt Red's ambitious open-world game Cyberpunk 2077 has been a hot mess. Players have reported bugs galore and textures on PS4s and Xbox Ones take ages to load in--if they ever load at all. Yesterday, the team behind the game posted an apology on their trademark update card, saying "We should have paid more attention to making it play better on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One."

The team promised two major patches for January and February that they say will fix the issues on last-gen consoles, but if players are unhappy and don't want to wait for the updates, they can get a refund for the game. They're offering this deal until December 21st.

Responses to the announcement were mixed: while some gamers appreciated CD Projekt Red's transparency, others were furious that such a step had to be taken in the first place and others still were upset about the extra crunch the team at CD Projekt Red were sure to undertake after the crunch of getting the game out before the holidays.

Among the game's most prominent Twitter critics was Elon Musk, who yet again struck the cringe-y chord of being insanely rich and a wannabe edgelord in the post's replies.

So far, the Cyberpunk 2077 release is shaping up to be a disaster for CD Projekt Red and for gamers--unless you play on PC, where the game is apparently living up to all the hype.
