Overview

Jeffrey Epstein Client List, also known as Jeffrey Epstein Flight List or Jeffrey Epstein Documents Release, refers to the official document showing who allegedly used the services of Jeffrey Epstein. Since Epstein's arrest in mid-2019, a list was suspected to exist and its release has been speculated about for years. On December 18th, 2023, a federal judge declared that the list would be released to the public in January 2024, leading to intense speculation as to whether it would finally be released and whose names would be on it. The announcement of the list's release garnered considerable media coverage, as well as spawning memes and discussions referencing it online in early 2024.

Background

Ever since Jeffrey Epstein's arrest on July 6th, 2019, rumors persisted online that a list of his clients was obtained and held in evidence, with the hope that after the trial it could be released.[7] After the initial trial, and the later arrest and trial of Ghislaine Maxwell in late 2021, the belief that the list would never be released began to spread online.

For example, on July 10th, 2022, an early meme about the list being locked away was posted to the website Memedroid,[1] featuring the warehouse from Indiana Jones with the caption stating that the list is being hidden away forever (shown below).

2023 Resurgence and Release Order

Talk about the client list began to grow slowly over the following years,[8] with mid-2023 providing a spike in interest after the 2023 UFO Military Retrieval Program Whistleblower Report in which a whistleblower within the U.S. Government released documents confirming that the U.S. Air Force has programs in place for retrieving and studying UFOs.

This report brought hope that a similar action would be taken regarding the Epstein "Client List." For example, on July 28th, 2023, Memedroid[2] user CWP1985[2] uploaded an American Psycho Business Card meme in which they ask to see the client list (shown below).

The renewed interest in the Epstein Client List continued for the rest of 2023, with a sharp resurgence on December 18th after U.S. Judge Loretta Preska declared that the client list would be released to the public at the start of January.[9]

This news was quickly picked up and went viral on TikTok (among other platforms), where talk of Epstein had grown substantially. For example, on December 20th, 2023, the official TikTok account for CBSmornings[3] uploaded its coverage of the judge's decision, earning over 25,000 likes in one week (shown below).

Prior to the release of the client list, speculation began to spread as to who would be named on it. On December 28th, 2023, the YouTuber[4] MoistCr1tikal on stream looked up a betting pool for people to be named on the client list, talking publicly with his chat over suspected people that would be good to bet on, with the streamed moment being clipped and uploaded to YouTube (shown below).

January 2024 Release

For the first two days of January 2024, talk of the list, speculation of who is on it and the hopeful reveal were trending on various social media outlets, as well as garnering significant media coverage.[10] On January 1st, 2024, it was leaked that one of the names on the client list, Bill Clinton, was reportedly confirmed after being previously known under the pseudonym "Doe 36."[11]

That same day, TikToker thefalloutcases[5] went over the information that was leaked, as well as helped to point out various fake leaks that had been spread over the previous year relating to the Epstein client list, earning over 10,000 likes in one day (shown below).

Further leaks that came out on January 1st and 2nd, 2024, show that Bill Gates reportedly had a lot of email correspondence with Epstein after Epstein's arrest and conviction for underage child solicitation.[12]

This subsequently led to various memes being created that aimed at Gates, as seen in the TikTok by msbaby1999[6] uploaded on January 2nd, 2023 (shown below).

Online Reactions

Following the increase in rumors, leaks and media coverage surrounding the client list in early January 2024, the topic rapidly began trending online as it spawned discourse and memes, particularly on sites like X / Twitter.[13]

Several podcasts and talk shows also began discussing the list and various rumors leading up to its release. For example, the PBD Podcast uploaded a video to its Valuetainment YouTube channel on January 2nd, 2024, receiving over 454,000 views and 18,000 likes in roughly 24 hours (seen below, left). Also that day, the Popcorned Planet YouTube channel uploaded a video discussing Epstein's client list, receiving over 123,000 views and 5,900 likes in a similar timeframe (seen below, right).
