Overview

Norme's Solitary Confinement Livestream refers to a viral stream in which YouTuber and Kick streamer Norme attempts to break the world record for the longest time in “solitary confinement with no lights” for a whole month. The stream started in mid-October 2024 on YouTube and is expected to finish on November 15th, which spawned discussions and memes on social media about Norme's mental state while doing the challenge, as the creator had previously attempted a No-Sleep World Record Livestream in August of the same year.

Background

On October 15th, 2024, the Australian YouTuber[1] and Kick streamer Norme started a livestream as a "1 Month in Solitary Confinement, No Light" world record challenge on his YouTube channel "to test if I go insane,” as he mentioned in the stream (seen below). The first video of the challenge amassed over 11,000 views and 210 likes in a month.[1]



As of November 8th, 2024, Norme has been in solitary confinement for 573 hours.[4]

Online Reactions

On November 6th, 2024, Norme's "1 Month in Solitary Confinement, No Light" livestream gained viral attention after X users started to share a video of him freaking out inside the room at 458 hours since he initiated the challenge.

X[2] user @yoxics posted the earliest viral mention of the stream on November 6th, writing that the YouTuber "has been in there for 3 weeks and is starting to go insane." The video (seen below) garnered over 16 million views and 88,000 likes in two days.


On October 28th, 2024, Redditor[3] u/-Appleaday- posted a screenshot of Norme's livestream to the subreddit /r/youtube (seen below), writing, "First he livestreamed himself not sleeping for 12 days and now this?" The post received roughly 6,600 likes and 270 reposts in a week.



On November 7th, 2024, TikTok[5] user @clipxinternjr posted a clip from Norme's stream showing the creator supposedly eating drywall (seen below), which received over 22,000 plays and 240 likes in a day.
