Overview

Saudi Arabia vs. Mexico (2022 World Cup) was a football match in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar in which Mexico defeated Saudi Arabia by a 2-1 score. The win, however, did not qualify Mexico for the knock-out phase, leaving fans to share memes about the game on social media.

The Match

On November 30th, 2022, Saudi Arabia lost to Mexico by a 2-1[1] score in the first group stage match of the 2022 Qatar World Cup. Despite its win, the game resulted in the elimination of both countries, as Mexico was unable to qualify for round 16 because the team failed to secure enough points.

Mexican football fans went to social media to express their emotions about the country's tragic elimination at the World Cup. For example, on November 30th, 2022, @ElChocoflan[2] posted a montage of The Office show characters to represent Group C fighting to secure a spot in round 16 of the 2022 World Cup.
