Family "Act My Age" Dance refers to a remix video from Vine of a family doing a choreographed dance to the One Direction song "Act My Age." The video has since been used as a reaction video, expressing feelings of celebration among three people.

Origin

The original video was posted on Vine by Aspect Za’Vier. While the original video has since been deleted, it's likely, based on timeframe, description and engagement, the video was posted on October 9th, 2014, receiving more than 200,000 likes, 140,000 revines and 18 million loops (mirror below).[1] In the original video, the family, which is comprised of Aspect Za’Vier, his brother Dexter and their mother, professional choreographer Willona, can be seen dancing to the song “Drop” by Freco and Merlo.[2][3] Willona choreographed the music video for "Drop," as well.[4]

On November 10th, 2017, Twitter [5] user @hozierlesbian tweeted the video with the soundtrack replaced by the song "Act My Age" by One Direction. The post received more than 6,800 retweets, 15,000 likes and 40 million views in less than two years (shown below).




On February 9th, 2019, Twitter[6] user @tomlinsoncurIs tweeted the video with the caption "if you don’t go this hard to act my age r u really ok." The tweet received more than 24,000 retweets and 80,000 likes in two weeks (screenshot below, left). Days later, on February 13th, Twitter[7] user @smitcantread tweeted the video with the caption "small mammals after the dinosaurs got wiped out." The post received more than 66,000 retweets and 214,000 likes in five days (screenshot below, center).

On February 16th, Twitter[8] user @undocusci tweeted, "Bacteria when you don’t finish your antibiotic prescription all the way thru." Within three days, the tweet received more than 79,000 retweets and 230,000 likes (screenshot below, right).

Several media outlets reported on the video, including The Daily Dot, [2] BuzzFeed [4] and more.
